Fentayl/neurontin

For various reasons I suffer from Spinal Stenosis, Herniated Disc in Cervical area of spine, also suffered a broken tailbone. I suffer from terrible nerve pain in my pelvic area, neck, down my legs and spine. My dr. has recently put me on 50mg fentayl patch. I also take Gabapintin. These still are only controling about 59% of my pain and if I do something to aggravate my injuries I sometimes get screaming pain. A friend recommended Methadone in conjunction with what I'm taking. I have taken Oxycontin, Oxycodone in high doses so my tolerance is very high. Can anyone tell me if adding Methodone to my other meds would help and if it could be risky--as far as overdosing etc..?

I doubt that Methadone will help you, since the Fentanyl that you are already using is far stronger than Methadone.

Just as an example, to equal 10mgs of Methadone, only requires 0.12mgs of Fentanyl.

Have you talked to your doctor about this?

The only option left for you may be a pain pump.
