Need Help Finding A Doctor To Prescribe Xanax In Wa

Good regular patient needs loving home. Have been on 3mgs qhs of Alprazolam for nearly 20 years. Consistently stable with recent improvements (panic/anixety/depression). Clinic became anti-benzo and wouldn't help find another provider. In serious withdrawal for days now w/SI. No history of EoTH or anything else. Just need to get back to living. Not opposed to tapering once re-stabilized. Not opposed to a yearly UDT. Please help! My skin feels like it's on fire. :(

Hi, Tess! I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. Most clinics in WA have stopped prescribing benzodiazepines and narcotics, because they are very risky and it is very hard for the doctors at a busy clinic to monitor the patients.

However, it is odd that they wouldn't refer you to someone else, as most of them usually do.

I'm not sure where in WA you are, so I can't really suggest a doctor for you, however, if you have a large hospital nearby, I'd suggest contacting them to see if they have a social work department. They are usually great about keeping lists of resources and doctors that they can refer people to, when they are in situations such as this.

The answer is clear. If you are going through a Xanax withdrawal after taking 3 mgs for 20 years and now have none, get to the Emergency Room as soon as possible. I almost dies after stopping 3 mg's and you can too!

Post #123 is mine but you should read the stories first at BenzoBuddies before you decide to get on a benzo. Withdrawal is absolutely worse than trying to get off H and I still can't find a doctor willing to give me back my full dose just a partial. Also now have Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome for life. Good luck with that.
