Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 17)

Updated

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

I am a epileptic with chronic pain that wakes me at night and keeps me up alot. The stress and fatigue are causing alot of seizures bad ones and I need a compassionate Dr that will write for percocet 10, preferably cause I was almost seizure free when I was on it before with my seizure medicine. I am in Kentucky and alot of the clinics here do mind and body or force the injections on you whether you have had them before or not. Please help.

Fox News has had several doctors say that in New York the rule will be no opiates prescribed unless a person has cancer and is in great pain because of it. The papers are filled with articles about deaths from opiates. I am in shock over this. Pain patients are being left to suffer. There is a move to stop prescribing opiates even codeine.

I would bet the information is on line about this. I know every state has their own laws but in CA the talk is the same.

Jasmine, what you are talking about are not new laws, they are Guidelines and Recommendations. I have put two links below that go into details about these new recommendations and guidelines.

CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain — United States, 2016-
cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/65/rr/rr6501e1.htm

Hi BL

I am not talking about new laws but the doctors prescribing are being told to limit opiates for two weeks and then quit. I appreciate your links. They do talk about the pressure on doctors. I know my sister in Wisconsin was given a two week prescription and she was told she cannot get another one. She has had surgery, too many epidurals to count ,and nerve ablation, yet they want her on steroids and nsaids and not on opiates. She asked for another back surgery and they said her bones were too fragile. She is in pain every day.
What bothers me is the papers and t.v channels seem to be too focused on this.

I also had an orthopedic physician say to me no more opiates even though I never ran out and I saw him monthly. He was upset by the pressure of prescribing and just quit . I am fortunate my PCP helps me out but that Dr may change his mind too.

Jasmine, how long a patient should take opioids after surgery, for acute pain and for chronic pain are all different. Has your sister gone to a Pain Management Dr for pain management with her chronic pain ? A lot also depends on how much she is taking.

My sister has been to a pain management and has had therapy and they have only given her small amounts of Vicodin 5 mg She was given Meloxicam, I may have misspelled that but she was bleeding into her stomach so they had to take her off that pill. She gets about 15 pills for the month and the family doctor won't write opiates. She also has seen an orthopedist and a rheumatologist but none have helped her pain. She never wanted to take opiates but right now there is nothing else left. She is in her 70's and otherwise healthy except for her spine. She must use a cane and hang on to a shopping cart to shop. She is a widow and it makes me so angry that she is treated so badly. She had a cadaver bone placed in her spine when she had surgery but that has not taken the pain away.

I hear similar stories all of the time. She has always been very cautious with her meds and has never been addicted to anything .

christina I am so sorry. I wish I had an answer. I think if you try to look at doctors in your area and then read Yelp especially near your address you may get an idea about how patients are treated.

Maybe you could ask a pharmacist if they could refer or know of a physician who will help you. I had a woman approach me at the pharmacy when she saw me pick up my Norco and she asked for the name of my doctor. Her doctor decided not to prescribe opiates any more. My pharmacists have been very kind. I switched to Walgreen's. They know me and my issues. I see my family doctor every month and he is kind and he treats me with respect. I hope you find that too.

christina, you may need to see a Neurologist for your headaches. If your taking pain meds for your other issues, what do you take for your headaches that the dr won't prescribe ? Have you seen a dr to schedule the surgery that you need ?

Hopefully by saying you live in central you mean the San Jose Bay Area because I used to go dr. Jadali in Santa Clara California and he is a fantastic PAIN Management Doc. I moved to South Dakota, that is why I no longer see him. Here is his number 408-395-7246.

I take fiorinal with codeine for my headaches for the last 25 years. It is the only thing that I have found that always helps my headaches. All the other pain meds like oxycodone vicodin even a fentanyl patch do not touch my headaches. So I need to find a doctor in Southern California that will prescribe me fiorinal with codeine along with Percocet for the neck and the back and the shoulder and the wrist pain. I was brutally attacked when I was 26 by the way I'm 55 now I was stabbed three times raped beat choked almost to death xcetera xcetera. Thank you for any help you can give me

I think tramadol is worse cause they give that crap to animals for pain and it is a different type of opiate and the withdrawals are just as bad is norco etc. When I have taken it I twitch and can't seem to remember where I am, and I come to wondering what the hell just happened. Sometimes I twitch and I've noticed I was on the floor and that's when I stopped taking it, it does help with pain med withdrawls but it doesn't - cause after you're done with tramadol the real opiate withdrawals start so it pointless. Anyways if you're in real pain methadone clinic is where you need to be cause you're not going to find a Dr these days that will give that to you and if you took 20 of 10 mg Norcos I know it won't help. I kicked 100 mg of methadone.

I agree that if you don't know what the doctors prescribe then it would be a complete waste of time to go to them in the first place. How many doctors would you have to go to to actually find one that prescribes what works for you? Most of them could care less and I am in North Carolina so I think it is even harder in this state to find someone if I am not mistaken. Is there anyone near North Carolina about 40 to 50 miles out from Charlotte who knows of the compassionate pain doctor who may be willing to write out effective pain medicine and which I have been on Hydromorphone 4 milligrams up to eight times a day which is 32 milligrams a day? I can also handle oxy 30 milligrams but most doctors are scared to death to write that and the doctor I am with now got an attitude when I mentioned oxy 30s so he moved me from oxy 15s to the hydromorphone plus I have been with him for 2 years. I have to leave him and find another pain doctor because after two years of riding out this level of pain medicine and no one that I was on benzos he had said nothing about going off of the benzos until my last visit so he is instructing me to go off of the benzos or he will cut down my level of pain medicine which is not going to work. I thought it was very unprofessional the way he did it and he doesn't really seem to care if I deal with chronic anxiety or not plus the doctor that writes it out needs to see me but I'm not sure if he will be able to come up with anything that is going to work in place of the benzos because I cannot handle antidepressants. This really sucks because my anxiety plus my pain have been handled for two years and now this doctor wants to pull at least one or both of them out from underneath me so I feel like the only thing I can do is try to find me another pain doctor who may understand he's staying on benzos plus I need the pain medicine as well due to herniated disc in my back which caused a lot of burning pain and sometimes it feels like scraping in my back. I need help from anyone who is 40 to 50 miles away from Charlotte North Carolina they may have some suggestions for a great pain doctor who does not judge and may be willing to prescribe something like Hydromorphone or oxycodone for my pain and I also take Tramadol for breakthrough pain which is basically a week medicine but it is better than nothing. This is urgent because of the benzos and the fact that I can have seizures if I suddenly stop them, plus I have to have a weaning off process and then it has to have time to get out of my body before my next visit with another pain doctor if I don't find one to replace him. But I don't know how long it takes for benzos to get out of your body, so does anyone know how long it takes Klonopin to be out of your body for a drug panel after the last dose? I believe this is very wrong for him to put me in this position and if he wants me off of these benzos then he should be giving me more time like up to six months because of the fact that I have to find a replacement drug for the benzos and it does take time for that replacement drug to work and I am limited on what I can take but it would have been better if he would have just asked me to reduce the benzos rather than just stop taking them all together but he is an ass which it took me all this time to get that figured out plus I need a primary doctor which makes this even more difficult. How do people even communicate on this thing because you cannot exchange emails or phone numbers so how does anyone let another person know which doctor they found that work for them that is what I really want to know? Someone please answer that for me because it's someone named Sally told me that they found a good doctor near the Charlotte area that was easy to get along with and prescribed medicine that help them then how am I supposed to find out who this doctor is if she is not able to give me that e-mail or she is not able to list the doctor's name on the website? I would appreciate any input at all to help me with either a primary doctor that is good or a good pain doctor :it can be within 40 to 50 miles of Charlotte, North Carolina. Someone please tell me how this works and how I will know if someone is answering my question or not because I am new to this website but I don't have much time to find what I need for the pain and the anxiety because these doctors just really don't care about patients. It really shouldn't have to be this difficult because there are people who really live in chronic pain everyday and should not have to suffer because there are people who abuse it which is what I was told to be the reason why most doctors don't like to ride out the oxy 30 milligrams. I was told that by several different doctors but I had to that did write it out for me but I think that that was just a cop out about not wanting to write the 30 milligrams out because anyone could have abused the 15 just as well as a 30 but 30 milligrams would probably be equivalent to the Hydromorphone that I take so I'm just afraid to go down in strength on my medicine which I think this doctor may screw me even if I do go off of my benzos which is why I'm trying to find another pain doctor because I don't trust him. Someone please help me and contact me as soon as possible in the Charlotte North Carolina area within 30 to 50 miles. Anyone in South Carolina can contact me as well because that is not too far from where I live either but if someone knows how to use his website to gather information and get help from other members who have had bad experiences please let me know. I just don't see how anyone can get help if they cannot give their email out to another person but they're going to need to know the doctor's name in order to go to that doctor because the city and state is not enough to track down a doctor and I need help with this same situation as much as anybody else on here so I would appreciate any contact and please tell me how this works. God bless you. Thank you.
