Need Doctor In Huntsville Alabama To Taper Off Suboxone (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been on 16-24 mg of Suboxone for about 4 years and I've tried time after time to get off of it, but I cannot afford to take off work or lose my job because of withdrawals. I have to be able to take care of my family. I've tried tapering on my own and with the help of my Suboxone doctor who recommended that I stay on it. I have tried withdrawal ease, and cold turkey. After much research I found that many people who are stuck on Suboxone get off by stopping for a week, then going back to short acting opiates such as Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, or Morphine, then tapering off after a month or two. I would like to find a doctor to help me with this rather than risking it on my own, plus it would be extremely hard to do if I didn't have a prescription, especially since I don't associate with any drug users or dealers. Is this feasible and if so where can I go in Huntsville Alabama to make it happen?

Hello, Bobby! How are you?
Only your Suboxone doctor can actually help you with this, when it comes to addiction treatment, other doctors aren't allowed to work with it. It must be done only by the ones that have the waiver to treat with it and treat addiction.
Your Suboxone treating doctor should help you taper off slowly, to avoid the withdrawals. They usually do want you to stay on it for years and do it very gradually, but they should honor your wishes if you want to stop now.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
And no, replacing it with other opiates is a bad idea, you really just trade one addiction for another.
Does anyone else have any ideas that may help?
Hi, I,ve heard of this procedure but it was for someone who was going to have some major surgery done.
You could try calling around to differet pain drs that you can find in your area online or in phone book. Doesn,t hurt to ask but I think if it was that easy everyone would be doing it.
Would love to know what you find out.
Hello, I am actually having the exact opposite problem you are having.. I was diagnosed with a chronic back condition at a young age, and was prescribed the usual opiates. My father was an opiate addict my entire life due to the hereditary back condition I currently inherited. I also happened to marry the love of my life 10 years ago who was also addicted to opiates due to physical ailments. The thing is, after being on opiates for a few months, I started noticing I was growing a tolerance. Growing up with this, I knew what was to come. My husband and I took a class on Suboxone and it seemed.. well.. too good to be true. No tolerance chance? So being that my husband couldnt help himself and was taking all of my pain medication, we both decided to give it a try. It was our miracle drug. We took it for 5 years and were perfectly clean the entire time. We started a family, a productive business, and truly got our lives together. Our business moved us a couple of hours away to a nowhere town in boonedocks Mississippi where there were ZERO suboxone doctors within a 2 hour radius. Luckily we found one in Memphis, who was perfect. He understood my husband's addiction was completely different than my chronic pain management and put us both on doses that worked perfectly. He was also a Psychiatrist, and being that I have A LOT of psychological and psychiatric issues stemming from my first 16 years of abuse in every possible way imaginable, followed by another 10 years of struggling with putting myself back together and figuring out who I as a person truly was - he was a lifesaver. He ended up diagnosing me with PTSD as well as severe Chronic Anxiety Disorder accompanied by random panic attacks, bursts of anger, being triggered by certain stimuli such as something so small as my children yelling in the back seat of the car while we were driving.. I would have an instant panic attack and everything would go into show motion and I couldn't control myself.. I would scream for them to stop, start crying uncontrollably, etc.. But that all came crashing down as soon as he began making inappropriate sexual advances toward me, on numerous occasions and even in front of his own staff.
After being abused as I was, this crushed me. On my next visit I demanded my husband join me in the room (which in the beginning of my appointments had never been a problem, although he even made inappropriate comments to my husband such as how lucky he was to get to have intercourse with me every night.. asking how often we had intercourse, and even went as far and to say he (the Dr) wished he were the one having intercourse with me. The last straw was when the Dr informed me he had a patient who painted nude portraits, then asked if I'd be interested in being a model.. then if it would be alright with me if he (the Dr) were there to observe.. This right after he gave me a necklace.. Anyway, the following day after my husband joined me in the appointment we received a call from the Drs secretary stating the Dr had dropped me as a patient. The poor secretary felt so bad he actually broke the rules and called me in a whole month's script illegally for both my Suboxone and Xanax prescriptions to give me a chance to find a new doctor. I explained to him how inappropriate the Dr had been with me and he told me if I decided to press charges he would back my statements because he had had numerous women making the same claims and he thought it was despicable. I didn't have the money at the time to sue but I did contact the medical board and made him lose his practice. My problem now is I cannot find any doctors anywhere who are willing to prescribe me 90 suboxone and 90 xanax bars even given my extensive history and condition. My life has fallen apart in the months since this happened. I was opening a huge business, I have a family, I was a good woman... Now I barely make it out of bed. I have one doctor who prescribes me 15 subs and 30 Xanax, which makes it so I might get a good week per month where I can function.. The rest I am basically on bedrest. I have gained at least 50 lbs my BP is through the roof (except when I take my xanax) and I truly feel like I'm going to die soon if I don't find a doctor who cares enough about patients to help a good woman, mother, wife, christian.. I do not have insurance but I do have the cash to be able to pay the cash pay doctor visits. If you have any doctors you've heard of in your search I would be so grateful for your insight. As would my family. Thank you for taking the time to hear me vent and I beg that you find it in your heart to help if possible, and if you don't know of anyone, perhaps spread the word, my final appointment was last week so I am completely out tomorrow, and I am the opposite of computer savy.. Sincerely in your debt.. Amanda.
I was recently able to taper off suboxone, which was no small task considering i have a wife who works full time and three daughters, one of which is newborn, and I can't afford to miss any work. It has been two weeks since my last piece of a strip, which was only 1/24th of a whole strip. I did it on my own with no help from any doctor, and only support from my wonderful and patient wife. I also did not use any other drugs or medications during this time except valerian and vivazen supplements. I did it by reducing my dose by 25% every week, or until i got somewhat comfortable before reducing by another 25%. It took me a few months to taper down, but it was completely worth it! I hope that anyone who wish to be free from this medicine will do as I did and taper off slowly, at your own pace-do what works for you! It's hard, but very satisfying not to depend on doctors, insurance, pharmacists, etc., and to not have the huge finincial burden. As some people depend on suboxone for pain management, I hope and pray you can find a good doctor to give you what you need without any grief!
Good luck everyone! I will check this post from time to time if anyone has any questions.
