I'm on medicare, and my last prescription of Provigil cost $816 for a 30 day supply. I am a recovering liver transplant patient and had suffered from daytime sleepiness from Obstructive sleep apnea and Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. Provigil is prescribed specifically FOR these conditions, but I encounter resistance each time I request a refill. Without this medication, I am literally unable to arise in the morning and participate in a normal day, such as operating a vehicle. In prescribing the medication, my sleep medicine doctor states specifically what conditions I have that require its use. I am currently seeking organizations to which I can apply for help with the cost, and have had no success. The only site I've found for assistance is restricted to patients with no insurance....

My insurance will no longer pay for my Nuvigil 250mg. It costs up to $1200. Month. They use to to pay for it. They will no longer cover ## Hello, Penny! How are you? They might not cover the name brand, now that a generic is available. Of course, that doesn't help, when no one has the generic in stock, or if it isn't on the general market, yet. If you check out the Nuvigil website, they do have a savings card that you can use, you can find it here to see if you're eligible Nuvigil.com click here The other alternative is to ask your doctor about prescribing a different medication that's cheaper or is covered by your insurance. I have been on methadone for nearly 7 years. I take 45mg daily split into 2 doses. Recently diagnosed with narcolepsy. Was given nuvigil. Within 4 days my methadone started wearing off and within 7-8 hrs I'm in withdrawal. I stopped the nuvigil 3 days ago but still withdrawing 3x a day! How long is this going to last!!?? When will it go back to the way it was? Why don't dr's know about this!? ## Nuvigil can reduce the efficacy of Methadone, so it may cause you to experience withdrawal symptoms. The situation will likely not rectify, until you stop taking the Nuvigil. The FDA lists withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, rebound pain, anxiety, and diarrhea. Doctors are not actually required to study medications as much as pharmacists, or pharmacy techs, so...

I started nuvigil 1/4 of 150mg tablet or 37mg in the morning. The first two weeks were great , it was like my mind was awake(but I my body still felt tired-CFS/ME) then the muscles in the back of my neck near my spine started to feel extreme muscle pain, then the neck pain grew to pain along my entire spine , from my neck along my spine to my low back, 8 out of 10 pain and stiffness along this area, then by the next week, the pain and stiffness was across my entire back , top to bottom and spread out to the sides of my spine. I am stopping Nuvigil today as I have linked my back pain , spine muscle pain, and neck pain to Nuvigil , and I only took 1/8 of a 150 mg tablet today, or 18 mg today . I am in so much pain 9 out of 10 in muscle and stiffness neck and back pain . ## Hello, Mary! Ho...

The pill is not scored, but my first day with 150mg sent me into a horrible anxiety attack?panic attack? My Insurance does not cover it so..getting a new RX for a lower dose is out. I thought maybe cutting tablet in half? Is it 'ok' to cut in half to try half a tablet? Thank You!! ;) ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Did you resolve this situation, yet? What are the markings on the tablet in question? That would enable me to look it up and check for you. ## Dose anyone have any experiences with Nuvigil, my (Fibro) fatigue is to terrible some weeks! that Im to fatiged to answers the phone and carry a conversation, or get anything done at all. My husband has Narcolepsy and has started taking Nuvigil. He has been on Methadone for almost two months now.H e complains that he feels bad by evening time. Is it one of the drugs or mixing them? He also takes Vivactil and Ritalin. He feels jittery, tired and nausated. Please help. ## Speaking from personal experience... Ritalin and Provigil didn't mix for me. Granted that was Provigil. I've recently started Nuvigil, and can not tell if I am having holiday anxiety or a reaction to my Nuvigil. My feeling is slight pressurized headache, tightness in chest, mild vision blur, very pressurized feeling in chest and sides of throat and anxiety. Checked my BP and is 180/80. Norm for me is around 130/85 w/bistolic. He may want to monitor his BP if he's feeling tired and nauseous ## ...

can a generic modafinil 200mg be round, white, scored on one side, no numbers/letters..? ## Hello, John! How are you? There are no U.S. prescription tablets that do not have markings. Imprints are required by law to enable their identification, in case of emergency. If it has no markings, it is most likely just some type of over the counter product. Where was it found/obtained? ## John, that is what mine looks like. ## Hi john, i want know about modafinil drug can you explain me? ## hey guys, that was the correct medicine. looked suspicious so I wanted to ask around. but I went thru that whole order, no problems ## Hi johnleonard - A year late but what do you want to know? ## What you described is exactly what my Modafinil in Argentina looked like.

Anyone know what this pill is I found it in my sons room? I need to know what it is I am worried that he may be doing drugs ## Hi. I just received a pill in a prescription with these details. I hope I am correct so that this ends your inquiry. I believe it is armodafonil, the generic form of the drug Nuvigil. Google the drugs so that you are aware of what it does. I take it because I work various shifts at my job and it helps me stay awake. ## @Kelly & Phil, Just wanted to confirm Phil's findings that he seemed a little unsure of. A white round pill with M on one side and A 32 on the other, is reportedly identified as a 150mg Armodafinil tablet; indicated for use in treating sleepiness. Basically it's a wakefulness promoting agent. For additional verification, the pill itsel...

The 250 mg of Nuvigil I take in the morning kicks in in about 2 hours and interferes with my ability to sleep at night. The 20 mg of melatonin I take makes me slightly sleepy for about 20 minutes after which I'm wide awake, again. After 3 days, however, Nuvigil does not work. I skip 2 days, and Nuvigil begins to work again. It's difficult to schedule life. ## Melatonin actually doesn't help put you to sleep, it resets your internal body clock to restore normal sleep cycles, but it can take awhile of regular use for it to do so. As to the Nuvigil, it could be that it just isn't the right medication to help you. Have you informed your doctor about the problems you're having? You may need to try something else. The FDA warns that stimulants carry the risk of being habit...

I've been taking Nuvigil for years, and never had any real issues with side effects, but I did a bit of research on what I've been experiencing in the last 6 months, and it looks like Nuvigil may be part of the cause. My periods are getting heavier and increasingly more painful, I'm breaking out like crazy, and I'm starting to grow some serious sideburns (well, peach fuzz, but I recently had to shave them, and it was A LOT). The combo sounds, to me, like the result of steroids, or androgens in general. I'm also looking into other lady-issues like PCOS, etc. I've let my doc know, and in the meantime thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced hormonal side effects while using Nuvigil? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problems...

How can I counteract this drug to help me sleep? My arms are jerking, I am grinding my teeth and loosing concentration. ## Hello, Tim! How are you? It's really just going to take time, you weren't on it for too long, so these withdrawal effects should improve in about a week, or so. What dosage were you taking? Why did you stop taking it? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, irritability and anorexia.

I am taking Nuvigil (250) and Qysmia (75) and have been for about a year off and on. Today our pharmacist questioned my husband about it when he picked up our medicines. Is there a problem? I have fibromyalgia, depression, disc issues, degenerative arthritis in back, shoulders, hands, wrists, knees - have had surgery in each of those places except back. Almost lost leg to infection (from pedicure), gout, diabetes since childbirth of tins at 40, HBP, hyperlipidemia, thyroid issues, hyperparathyroid disorder, kidney disease, sinus problems & surgery, sleep apnea, and am totally disabled. I lost 95 lbs. and am controlling diabetes much better all normal A1C's w/ one 500 mg Metformin a day, lipids best in years, etc. However, the fiber stills keeps me exhausted and among other issue...

I have been taking Nuvigil 150mg before shifts for over 2 years, with the option to repeat the dose, if needed. For the past month I have had heart palpitations, anxiety, paranoia, SOB, depressed, crying, really been a bi---. I never would have thought it was Nuvigil since I had been on it so long. Over the weekend, I had loose stools, didn't have Rx refill. Today, my physician gave me a sample pack, I took one and all those horrible feelings started, again, to the most extreme level. How is this possible? I'm a self-confident, happy woman, whose personality turned to crap. I don't abuse Nuvigil, have no reason to be depressed, haven't started any new medications, yet Nuvigil appears to have turned on me. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Twinkletoes! I have been taking lamictal 200 2xday along with cymbalta for several years. Moved, changed psychiatrist, took testing with neuropsychologist and was given the diagnosis of bipolar II and generalized anxiety disorder. Been off cymbalta for several months. I have been testing out different medicines for the past few months and no positive results. Doc started me on nuvigil a couple of weeks ago. Started out with 150 but was anxious, nauseous, and irritable. I never felt any of the "high" that i have read about. She had me to half the dose and I feel less anxious. But i am continually nauseous, anxious and tired and unable to function for more than 3-4 hours a day and some days, not that much The rest of the time, I lay on the couch. I am so discouraged. I cry alot. I don't kn...

My partner has increased her oxy intake substantially since taking nuvigil and can't explain whether it's needed for pain or depression. It will end in depression because her 120/mo 15 mg/oxy just won't last. The apparent simultaneous use of both meds seems to show a departure from reality. Similar experiences requested. MM ## Hello, Michael! How is she doing? Oxycodone is a narcotic analgesic, so it isn't going to properly treat depression. It does give some people a lift, but that is only temporary, because it is a side effect that eventually wears off, so the person must keep raising their dosage to get it back. She's getting in a bad cycle here that has the potential to be very dangerous. She shouldn't be taking more of this than her doctor has directed. Lear...

Hello, I've been taking 75mg of nuvigil now for only 2 days. The only real side effect I've experienced except slight nausea is that i feel wide awake after 3am. I go to bed at 11 with no problems but the once 3ish comes around i have a wide awake feeing. Im not wanting to take it anymore cause i NEED my sleep!!! Recommendations?? ## Hello, Amy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. It may be that the 75mgs is too high of a dose for you and you need to speak to your doctor about trying a lower one. The FDA lists the other possible side effects of this medication as including dizziness, headache and nervousness. What time of day have you been taking it? That could also play a role.

Just started Nuvigil and am experiencing the racing heart, speedy head, et.al. I'll not use it again. That said, I must sleep. I take 5 mg of ambien (zolpidem) a night. Are there any adverse reactions to this? ## Those can be normal side effects of Nuvigil, as listed by the FDA, since it is a stimulant, they should improve after about 4 to 5 weeeks, as your body gets used to the medication. As to the Zolpidem, the Nuvigil can decrease the effectiveness of it, so it may not work as well for you. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, hallucinations and sleep actions. Is your doctor aware that you're taking both?

I tested positive for Methamphetamine after taking 250 mg of Nuvigil daily for 8 yrs. Also I was taking Wellbutrin SR 300 mg and Abilify daily. Is this possible? ## As an veteran shrink and psychopharmacologist, I know Wellbutrin could do it and possibly Nuvigil. I always get the therapist's (some are MSWS; others are PhDs and MDs) for their take on the patient and I speak with him/her myself. But that's in an affluent hospital where pats voluntarily admit themselves for Detox and Rehab. (And, NO, I don't permit any 12-Step Cultists to "visit".) The "drug tests" we're talking about here usually are the cheaper ones and the programs don't involve much therapy. (If I'm wrong, please tell me.) I"d research Nuvigil...right now....Wellbutrin is def...

Dr. started me on 150mg Nuvigil last week. I am chronically tired, unable to focus or concentrate, unmotivated and always feel somewhat "foggy". I started with 1/2 tablet (75mg), and first 2 days I felt simply amazing. Like a switch was flipped. I felt completely alert and focused, happier, energetic and motivated to do so much that I never have the drive to do! I tried a full dose on day 3 and it was not good- I had all the unpleasant side effects (rapid heart beat, dizziness, jitters) but instead of making me focused and alert, it made me feel jumbled and agitated. So I went back to 75 mg. I can still tell it's in my system b/c my heart rate still increases a little, but other than that I can't tell that it's working anymore. 2-4 hours in I feel that little bit of ...
