Hello, my doctor recently changed my dose of morphine to 30mg, but I still have 15mg tablets left. Can i take 2 to equal 30 until they're gone, then start my 30mg pills? ## Yes, there shouldn't be any problem with doing that. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Have been on 240 mg morphine sulphate per day for 6 yrs and of course is not doing as best as it used to for me to function in my daily life. I want to ask for a conversion to an oxycodone type med since I have been accumulated to that before..I have the back syndrome of HANDS OFF by every doc since 2004 to present. I need to keep myself on a productive path as I'm on now. What equivalent of oxycodone is at my present dose please? Thank you. ## Hello, River! How are you? Oxycodone is approximately 1 and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd only need 160mgs of it each day. Have you discussed the issue with your current doctor? How long has it been since you've taking Oxycodone? ## I just posted a link which gives information regarding what medication is equivalent to...

Hi Dr. I'm 49 years of age and I have cronic Osteoarthritis on both knees, both wrists and hands, lower back and left shoulder. I've been taking meds for 10 years (give or take). I used to live in San Diego and after trying all kinds of medication the Dr. ended giving me morphine ER 30mg and Norco 10/325. I was taking 3 to 4 morphines daily and 6 to 8 Norcos daily. With time he pump me up to 60mg instead of 30mg of the morphine. Since I couldn't work anymore, I lost everything and had to move to L.A. county where I have relatives. I got a Dr. there but he said I was taking too much medication so he took away the Norcos and gave me the morphine but 30mg and only 3 daily. After a couple of months I told him that they weren't working too well so he gave me 60mg 3 daily. Aft...

I broke my ankle two weeks ago and the doctor started me on 40 - 80 mg a day then after a week I dropped down to 20-30mg a day. It has been almost a total of 2 weeks on this medication and when I wake in the morning I feel sick and sweaty until I take my meds. I'm wondering if a person can go through withdrawal on such a small dosage and if so how long will it take for this to stop ## That's not really a small dosage, even being down to 20 to 30mgs a day is still a pretty high dose and yes, one can experience withdrawal symptoms, whenever your dosage is lowered, or if you stop taking it, according to the NIH. Other withdrawal effects may include rebound pain, fever, chills, and diarrhea. You weren't taking it for too long, so they will most likely subside in a week, or so. I...

How often can you take morphine 30mg per day. How many hours apart ## 1x evry 8 hours ## wife had terminal cancer, prescription :morphine sulf ir 30mg tab tab, mfg:ethex corp. direction on script take 1 to 3 tablets every four to six hours as needed ## Morphine should be taken in the exact way your doctor prescribed it to you. Everyone is different, and each person reacts differently to dosage and mg amount. If you did not recieve your prescription from an MD, I would watch out for overdose symtoms. If you start feeling: Drowsiness, pupils change in size, feeling confused, cold and clammy skin, weakened pulse, difficulty breathing, or fainting I would stop taking it right away. Hello, I have been prescribed Morphine ER 15 mg/2×day and Morphine IR 15 mg/up to 4×day. I would like to see if I understand the dosage- I know, seems clear enough!- so let's see if I have it right... One ER every 12 hrs. supplemented by one IR every 4 hours if and as needed. Sound correct? : ) Thanks! ## Taylor, Sounds like the standard dosage protocol for one with moderate to severe intractable pain I wish patients that attend our clinic understood labeling instructions that well.So long as prescribed by your licensed provider you sound like your set for pain relief. Best of luck to you and BTW they can cause some loopiness until you become accustomed to your dosage regimen. Take care ## ZedEDiamond111 Thank you very much for your kind reply! ## Actually, 4 times a day f...

I took two 60 milligrams of morphine pills at 8 am friday. I am scheduled for a urinalysis at 5 pm on monday. Will they be able to trace it in my urine at this time? ## There is a chance that they will, Morphine can be detectable in your urine for up to 4 days, after you take it. The time frame, however, can vary from person to person, depending on your metabolism, activity level, overall health, other medications you are on and other factors. If you have a prescription for it, however, you have no reason to worry and just have to inform them of this, when you go in for testing. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Took 6 mg of mophineER one a day for 7 days it will be 6 days when I take my drug test will it be out. Please reply ## I took 120 mg. Total in one day and that's...

is it a lot longer for an extensive lab test than just a standard 5 panel urine test? ## I went to the er and they gave me a shot of morphine three hours later my po drug tested me is it going to show up ## Hi carebear79, the chances are that it will show up. But if you had a ligitement reason to go to the ER and the doctor saw fit to give you this medication then you shouldn't have any problems with your PO. Just keep the paperwork the hospital gave you for proof. Or your PO could always call the ER for your records. ## I agree keep your paperwork the Dr. deemed it necessary to give you the meds that makes it legal. Right before you take the screen show the paperwork that shows a valid reason for the drugs to be in your system. Hope this helps let us know how it turns out. ## Uhm ,...

I took 3mg morphine sulfate IV on friday and 3am and have to drop a ua at 3!5 Tuesday will it still be in my system ## It can be detectable for 7 to 10 days. however, if you received it under medical orders, then all you have to do is inform them of this at the time of the test. They may wish to confirm this with the doctor or hospital, but they have to allow for legitimate medical use. Do you have any other questions? ## How soon does Morphine show in your urine after receiving it IV dose. While being treated for a leg injury, I was given about 6mg of morphine sulfate IV and approx 2-3 hours later I was asked to give a urine speciment for drug testing! Is that soon enough for it to show in my urine? ## i took 10mg of morphine on Saturday Night and had to drug test for a new job on Thir...

I was under pain management for 10 yrs in Memphis & my doc passed away. Was seeing Dr Douglas Jones but he took teaching position at University of TN. I would be willing to travel to Ark if necessary. Have Medicare & on disability & have been on pain meds for years to manage severe back pain. Need to find a doctor with some compassion. Dr. Jones was great but had to move on. ## David, Sorry to say your chances of finding a "compassionate old school doc" that is liberal with the pen and pad are no longer in existence. From one who knows, Your best bet is to seek an interventional pain management practice as they may offer a degree of relief that many would find helpful. Long term use of opioid and or opiates exclusively are not the optimal course of treatment for intr...

I can't stand for even 5 minutes. I also have a condition in both of my knees my knee caps don't stay where they are suppose too. Need something extremely strong that works fast and lasts for a long time. ## Angie, I'm sorry to hear that you are in such pain.Unfortunately medications like Dilaudid and other morphine like opioids can only be prescribed by pain Management specialists and only after Comprehensive diagnostic evaluation Family medicine or primary care providers are prohibited from prescribing these drugs for intractable Pain conditions.Your best bet is to Recieve a refe...

I need to find out if I can cut my pills in half or in 1/4's and still have the medication be extended release and still help with my pain? I have never done it before and I do not like taking the pill all at once. ## No, it is not safe to cut a time released pill, if you prefer a lower dosage, you should speak to your medical provider and ask if they will prescribe one for you. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications?

Can I take the clonazepam 1mg an hour after I take the morphine sulfate 15 mg tablet? I'm on it for severe hip pain due to a fall on the ice. ## You can, as long as they have both been prescribed for you and your doctor is aware you are taking both. However, you may experience more severe side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness, according to the NIH. Are you on any other medications?

I was taking 60mg of morphine sulfate from Rhodes. The pharmacy said they didn't come in and gave me the Actavis brand instead. They do not work for my pain at all and give me horrible stomach pains! The pharmacist brushed me off, saying they all have the same ingredients! I can't find a picture of it on the internet....it's round, tan, with a 311 on one side & a half moon on the other side. Any help would be appreciated! ## Hello, well this is the first time I have seen these pills too, normally i do not take morphine, unless oxycodone cannot be prescribed. I wouldn't get the 311 orange/blue moon 60 mg morphine. I normally take 30-40 mgs of oxycodone, And with these new pills that we just mentioned, I need to take multiple doses for pain relief. ## Yes, this is list...

Is this pill stronger or weaker than hydrocodone/apap 10/325? ## The 30mg Morphine tablet is actually stronger, these 2 medications are equivalent. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Morphine is stronger. If you research you will find it is 1 molecule away from heroin. Heroin breaks down to morphine after several hours.

Please identify a small (1/4" circumference) colored tablet with ABG imprint one side & 60 on other side. The pharmacy bottle says it's Morphine Sulfate ER 60 MG by Actavis Pharm generic for Avinza. However, this tablet looks nothing like the small green capsule in last month's bottle with the exact same details on that bottle. ## This tablet is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and they do list it as containing 60mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation (NDC 0591-3513). So, your pharmacy just provide you with a generic that has been manufactured by a different company. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I ...

My mom has been taking extended-release morphine 30mg for about 6 years for chronic back pain from botched back surgery. The doctor recently added 15 mg immediate release. She has to take both of these 4 times a day. Is this too much morphine? Should we be concerned about overdose? ## Hello, Marilynn! How is your mom doing? It is off that the extended release would be prescribed to be taken 4 times a day, it usually only taken twice a day. As to whether or not its too much, that really depends on her and her opiate tolerance. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is she seeing a pain management specialist or just her PCP?

## would like to know what it looks like ## the 30 mg comes in a blue greenish caqpsule and the 10 comes in a capsule also just a little smaller ## are their morphine in red & white capsules? ## While I can see that Nora tried to provide some information, but that is not entirely correct, while Morphine is available in caspule form, it is also available in tablets. So, as to being able to say what it looks like, that is almost impossible. Once a med is available to be made and sold as a generic, when the proprietary name brand patent has run out, there are hundreds of pharmaceutical companies that can pick up the manufacture of it. There are also no guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry that says all pills or capsules with the same active ingredient must be the same size, shape,...

I only ask cause I never dabbled that far and believe my loved one may have (perhaps not), but it's all so scary to me as a pill addict myself I want to know what to stay clear of. I want to live. She was quite innocent and in denial so it's so hard to imagine lord willing, I'm wrong. Better safe than sorry is my theory, god bless. ## Lisa, That's a very good question as Morphine is a very powerful opiate reserved for the treatment of severe pain. It has several routes of administration. Recreational or opiate naive patients can overdose and die at relatively low doses especially if taken with other cns depressants. You mentioned you were a pill addict, not to pass judgement but many morphine related od's result from pills (especially er). When used as directed morph...
