I have been taking morphine ER 15mg for 3 years and hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325. I've also suffered from migraines for about 20 years. I get about 12 migraines a month. In the last couple of months I have noticed an increase to 20 a month, so I stopped taking my meds for 5 days and they seem to be better. So should I talk to my doctor about this? ## Yes, that would be a good idea, I think. Most opiates carry the risk of causing side effects, including headaches, according to the FDA, as well as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. But any time you experience worsening headaches, or more frequent ones, you should have it checked out to be careful. QUESTION-what does morphine show up as in a drug screen?.........ANSWER-As the real name for heroin is diamorphine and heroin shows up in a drug screen as opiates morphine will also show up as an opiate. ## Thanks for sharing this advice Danny! I think a lot of patients aren't made aware of this because of the increasingly large number of false-positives; where as morphine might show up as some other medication (such as Oxycodone) and vise versa. Hopefully companies will start using more reliable drug screenings in light of all the false positives. I have been taking morphine sulfate (Statex) and codeine for 20 years without any problems at all. I am extremely intolerant and allergic to medications and in severe pain every day (for 41 years) so being able to tolerate opiates is essential to my survival. The fact they are natural is what allows me to tolerate them. But Statex is on back order so they gave me MS IR this week which is morphine sulfate pentahydrate and it made me very sick. Worse than that, they then gave me some Statex they had been holding out on me and for the first time in 20 years it made me sick as well. Hi! I have been on 16 -24 mg of suboxone for almost 3 years now. I have been having some really painful tooth aches, and am waiting to get into my dentist for oral surgery most likely, so I go off and on in extreme pain. Every couple days, what I have been doing rather than just taking my sub, is taking my sub dose in the morning, and then in the evening around 8 taking an oxycodone 40 mg, to help with pain. It of course doesn't give that euphoric feeling, but it does help with the pain more than just my morning sub. I go to sleep, and 10 hours after I can take my suboxone no problem, without PAWS. I've been taking 2 30mg and a 15 mg morphine once sometimes twice a day if I just stopped how long till it's not urine or blood detectible. It's memorial weekend and my dr. sent my rx to the pharmacy but insurance is asking for prior authorization. I have been taking morphine sulfate er 100mg for 5 years twice a day. I have 30 mg immediate release. What would be the equivalent to take?

How should I work my way off of it? ## You may need a higher dosage, or to try a different medication. How long does morphine sulfate 15 mg ir last? I take 2 a day. I also take morphine sulfate 30 mg er 3 a day. I'm confused as to when I am supposed to take the morphine sulfate it. It only seems to last 4 hours and the morphine 30 mg er seems to last no more than 7 hours. I can only stand and bend for 10 minutes or less until I'm in excruciating pain. My pain Dr. Only sees me once every 6 month's. I am just having a flair up with rheumatoid arthritis really bad. Is it safe to use morphine, as I am taking diazepam at the moment? ## Has your doctor prescribed it for you? In some cases, Morphine can worsen joint inflammation, so it should not be taken, without the approval of a medical professional. I've been on Morphine 15mg. Succ IR for close to 2 months. I'm switching to Norco 10/325 in the morning. I'm wondering how many hours should be in between taking the morphine,and the Norco? I took my last morphine at 7pm tonight. Start Norco 10/325 around 7am. ## Unless your doctor or pharmacist has instructed otherwise, you should be able to make a clean switch from one to the other. I am on 15 mg morphine extended release tablets. Taken whole 1 every day. I want off off them. Desperate. Will not go on Suboxone. Will take Methadone am very serious and want off of these opiates. I am 75 years old. I have had several back surgeries. I have a pain pump, but now I am also on 15mg morphine tablets every 4 hrs as needed. Would it be easier on your system if you were to split the 15mg and take 7 and a half milligrams every 2 hours? ## I had surgery On Friday May 13, 2017. I took roughly 3/4 of a 60mg morphine pill throughout friday and on saturday morning took the last quarter of the 60mg. I got a drug test monday at 5:30pm. U think i will be clean? I have two (small) bottles of Morphine 5mg tablets. One is marked "Drug Expires 2012" and the other is marked "Drug Expires 2013". Are they still safe to use? Please someone help. I've just lost the chance of a new job cause I failed a drug test. They asked me if I'd taken morphine so I'm assuming that's what came up. I've never ever taken any drugs. However, Morphine and Oxycodone are two different narcotics. While both have been proven effective, one sometimes works better for some people than another. Being coupled with the Acetaminophen can also make the Oxycodone work better for some people, so they can take a lower dose of it and still achieve adequate pain relief. The FDA classifies both of these medication as being narcotic analgesics.
