My insurance will not pay for any more Fentanyl patches and now I have switched to 60mg Morphine slow release. Will that be as good as the patches? I have terminal Colon Cancer. Trying to identify a pink and white capsule which I believe to be Morphine ER. ## Are there any markings on the capsule in question? If it is an extended release Morphine, it should have some markings on it to enable their identification according to U.S. FDA law. The only exception would be for medications done by a compounding pharmacy, which would not be time released. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth.

i have a bottle of ten year old morphine and i was wondering if it would be dangerous to take them.... ## Morphine doesn't get dangerous, when it's expired, but it does lose effectiveness and, after 10 years, I doubt there is much potency left to treat pain and do much of anything. This is a narcotic, so in case there is some potency left, you also shouldn't try taking more to get the same effect, because you could run the risk of overdose. I take morphine 15mg extended release tabs right now and I normally take 1 Hydrocodone 10-550's but Im out of those right now..Im wondering if taking another morphine would be ok? No differentiation between different varieties of opiates. Dilaudid is a semi synthetic keytone or Hydromorphone HCL, so it is i feel its twice the potency of morphine, short acting though. I take 70mg Methadone HCL and Dilaudid for breakthrough pain. I did also get Percocet 10/325 but after this new law he would not give me a one. I never ever felt like a dope addict but yet feel they are scrutinizing me at some pharmacies. On my formulary list, it shows Morphine Sulfate bead, as a category of morphine available. I am currently taking morphine sulfate ER 30 mg., but the cost is $90 for a quantity of 90 pills (1 month supply). The Morphine Sulfate bead is shown with a cost of only $15 per month. What is the bead type of morphine and would this be an option for me to use instead of the ER type? ## It is just another time released formulation in a capsule, from what I can find. Okay so I get 30mg morphine ER all the time but I usually get the light purple ones or the new kind which has a moon on one side and they are light yellow but I haven't had these purple 30mg ER box Ms in a long time. The other ones I get seem to squish up like a pancake when I crush them due to the time release gel I'm assuming but I suspect these are fake because they are breaking up into a powder. Also morphine has a certain chlorine taste to it and these ones do not. Does anyone have experience with all of ER morphine generic brands? According to the conversion ratios provided by Global, they convert on a 1:1 ratio. So, to be equal to a daily dose of 40mgs Hydrocodone, you'd need 40mgs of Morphine. I take up to 3, 30 mg a day of oxycodone. I'm trying to stop but don't want to get sick. To start off, if I take 30 mg of morphine will I withdrawal? I have been given pill for pain and they said they were morphine tablets. I have morphine capsules from the doctor so it made me a bit suss. My Doc prescribed me 15 mg of Morphine. Ive been on vicodin 7.5 mg for three years. How much of a difference is morphine? I took half of the blue pill just now. ## The Morphine is stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin, it is also a straight narcotic, without the Acetaminophen that is in the Vicodin. It sounds like your doctor is trying to help you get better control of your pain. The main issue here is, what type of Morphine pills are they? If they are the time released version, generics for MS Contin, then cutting the pill in half could be very dangerous and should not be done.
