Generally, the modern preferred method is to have someone gradually reduce their dosage, while starting to skip days, such as going down to 40mgs on Monday, then skipping Tuesday, then taking the 40mgs again on Wednesday. Do that for a week, then reduce to 35mgs the next week and so on. The FDA lists the possibly withdrawal effects as including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with?

Taking mirtazapine 7.5 MG @ Bedtime to sleep for about 6 days. I have been on mirtazapine at 15mg for two weeks, I feel like a walking zombie and my moods are vile! I am agitated and hot tapered with my husband and children making me a nightmare to live with. Today the doctor has prescribed me 30mg as I have always been on such a high dose of Citalopram before we tapered off, that she thinks my side effects may be because I need more antidepressant in the system but agreed it might be because they don't suit me but we won't know until we've tried them for 5-6weeks. My question is will I always be tired and zombie like?...and also will I always be hot tempered and agitated? I was on 30mg of mitprtazipine for 18 months, I came off them at the end if January as I could not stand the terrifying nightmares I was having, since then I have suffered with a fatty liver and chronic lower back, pain between my shoulder blades and muscle pain, have tried all methods of relief, chiropractor , osteopath, massage and all kinds of pain relief, nothing so far is having any effect , would like to know if anyone else has suffered anything similar. ## HI Liz, Sorry to hear about your situation with mirtazapine. My mum has been taking 15 mg Mirtazapine for 2 weeks. She then went onto 30 mg for 2 weeks and has now been on 45 mg for 1 week. My mum has not improved in 6 weeks at all and if anything is getting worse. She is always dizzy, lifeless, no appetite, no motivation what so ever. I am told she will get better but I'm sorry I don't believe this at all. She is now hearing voices and she says that stops her doing things, but I believe these are just thoughts. Hi all, hope someone might have an answer!! I have this feeling of weights being attached to my shoulders and chest. Had an ekg and all fine with that. I do suffer from anxiety and depression and take mirtazapine and clonazepam. Small dose. Does anyone else experience this?
