I was not offered this med by my gp but having read about it I asked for it ## The weird dreams are too be expected, since Mirtazapine is a NaSSA, which means it does have an effect on brain chemicals. However, the good news is they will most likely taper off in frequency and severity after a few more weeks, once your body is more used to the medication. Learn more Mirtazapine details here. I'm glad that it's working for you, though. That...
Starting Paxil from Mirtazapine, all the hype of Mirtazapine is wrong. It works for about 3 weeks, then pooooooph done. Has anyone tapered to Paxil from Mirtazapine? IF SO, WAS IT PAINLESS OR POINTLESS? ## Not every medication works for everyone that tries it. I am sorry the Mirtazapine didn't work well for you, but there are many people that do experience good results with it. Paxil always worked well for my ex-husband, though I've not taken it myself. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes. Can anyone that's switched from one to the other chime in with their experiences?
Is anyone experiencing the same symptoms? I am on Mirtazapine 15 mg for over 10 years, and I am taking Aurobindo Mirtazapine since March 2015. Until Sept 2016, I don't have any problem. Now suddenly, I get dizzy sometimes, and my sleep has been shallow for the past three weeks, and last night I could not fall asleep at all. I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms, my heart beats fast and I feel anxious throughout the day. In 2010, there seemed to be the same problem in Mylan Mirtazapine. Source: "Mylan Mirtazapine does not work" I wonder if Aurobindo recently changed the factory. By reading the above link about Mylan Mirtazapine, I found it is very difficult to compose the pill and the effect is different from manufacturer to manufacturer. My doctor told me to stop taki...
Hi, ive been on mirtazapine for 10 months and my psychiatrist has told me to just stop and start trazodone. Has anyone else just stopped mirtazapine and started a new Antidepressant? ## Hello, Cookie! How are you? For the best results, you should always follow your doctor's instructions. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Why are you switching?
i take mirtazapine and i have been with it a few months now i was taking it in combination with celexa i eventually stopped the celexa and only took the rem i like it because it makes me sleep and wake up very easily when i need to(for work or appointments) i only take it at night and i actually try to lay in bed with my eyes closed after i take it not battle it to see the hallucinations they do cause however sometimes pleasent dreams but more horrible terrifying dreams. I'd wake up some nights from a horrible dream sweating and breathing heavy. and yes this drug also makes you gain weight and ALOT of it if your not careful just reguarly excercise and all will be well ## Thanks for sharing your experience using the medication, it will be very helpful to many people. Im on quetiapine MR 700mgs a day i also take sertraline 100mgs a day , tramadol 200mgs daily , depakote 1000mgs daily, and zolpidem 10mgs at night , my doctor is thinking about putting me on mirtazapine 45mgs daily i wanted to know if this is safe with all my other meds i have mentioned ? ## Many of the medications you've listed can affect serotonin levels, so adding another one creates the risk of your developing serotonin syndrome, which can be dangerous. It's not that they can't be combined, but it must be done very carefully, with the doses taken under careful consideration and the patient being regularly monitored. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Mirtazapine as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Are you seei...
Im hurting always wanted some help ## Hi Ronbo, Sorry to hear about your pain. Have you sought out any sort of treatment to manage it? I did find a yellowish/peach colored oblong pill with a capital "A" on one side and "0 | 8" on the other, separated by a score line. Depending on how you hold it, it could be "8 | 0"... At any rate, this particular pill is identified as a 15mg mirtazapine tablet used for treating depression. Please post back if there's anyway I or someone else may be of help.
I have suffered from quite severe anxiety since losing my mother 2 years ago. I tried many SSRIS which I could not tolerate as I have a 7 and 12 year old to care for and these drugs made my anxiety skyrocket! I have been terrified to try anything else until a couple of weeks ago. I was suffering racing thoughts, physical symptoms and poor sleep and I was desperate. I have been prescribed Mirtazapine to help sleep and also for the low mood/anxiety. I started on 15 mg which immediately helped with my sleep. I had drowsiness for first few days but that went. Because I felt drowsy first couple of days/week the anxiety seemed better and I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Now however my anxiety is as bad if not worse than before and I feel really depressed. I am seeing my GP to discuss a...
Found this on my floor. My boyfriend dropped it, but he doesn't know what it is...so I'm asking... ## Is that the complete imprint on the tablet? There is one that matches this description that also has an A on the opposite side, which is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 30mgs of Mirtazapine, which an antidepressant. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
Can someone identify it a peach oblong pill with letter a on one side and 80 on the other ## Hi Aldo, The pill you are describing is identified as Mirtazapine (15 mg); however, it appears to be a yellow color as opposed to peach. Other than that it is an oblong pill with the letter "A" on one side and "8|0" on the other, separated by a score line. Manufacturer: Aurobindo Pharma National Drug Code (NDC): 65862-0031 Mirtazapine's primary use is the treatment of moderate to severe clinical depression. Learn More: Mirtazapine Details Does this sound like a possible match? ## Yes indeed ur reply was extremely helpful. I was told it was a pill used for insomnia although it sounds like that wasn't accurate ## Well this work all i want is to sleep ## Please let me know i...
Hi all, recently I've been given mirtazapine to help me sleep. I also take 40mg citalopram, plus 7.5mg zopiclone, plus 5mg diazepam. My mood swings have changed. I have found I'm being nasty towards my partner who is very caring and supportive but I know I will lose her forever if things don't change. Should I stop taking all this s*** or do I battle on? Please help. {edited for privacy}. ## Hello, Nick! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're experiencing. You actually shouldn't be taking both the Citalopram and Mirtazapine, because both can increase serotonin levels, which could cause you to develop serotonin syndrome and that can be fatal, as reported by the FDA. If the Zopiclone isn't helping you sleep, as it should, then you may need to stop...
I recently came out of the military and was on a steady dose of 45mg before bedtime. Unfortunately I tried to end my life because of problems and was diagnosed as having a nervous meltdown. My gp said that because the mirtazapine suited me he put the dose up to 2 a night 90mg, this has had a massive impact on my life and made me feel really poorly, even more poorly when 7 months down the line another doctor halved the dose back to 45mg obviously noticed the mistake his colleague had made. Well this made me so I'll I went down hill very fast. Can you please advise? ## Hello, Simon! How are you? Yes, the normal max dosage is 45mgs a day, so 90mgs is very high. However, when going back down, it is normal to experience some withdrawal effects, such as what you've described. The FDA ...
I have MS pretty much in the advanced stage in the first night while on mirtazapine I got strong electric shock pain in both legs coming and going – totally unbearable! These pretty much ceased to exist although coming back a different form every now and then but now the latest that has been excruciating pain in one or the other feet. Since mirtazapine works along the nerve pathways, making them stronger, I've read – this makes sense a definite no-no for someone with pain there already! Duh – Dr. "specialists"! ## I was given Mirtazapine about 2 weeks ago to help with sleep, took 15mg before bed as directed, went sleepy. Very next morning got electric shock sensation from leg into foot, kept taking dose, electric shock / zap / pins-and-needles thing keeps h...
Have stopped taking Mirtazapine because of excrutiating pain in my legs whilst on it. I have had cold / freezing feet for years but when on Mirt my feet were always warm and toasty. Does anyone know why this should be and what ingredient would have been responsible?? It was lovely to have warm feet and be able to wear little shoes rather than boots and socks all the time and I would take a 'warm feet' pill if I knew of one provided it didn't have painful side effects! ## Hello, Lesley! How are you? It sounds like you may have Raynauds Phenomenon, which is a syndrome where your circulation is kind of screwed up, so your hands and feet get cold easily. It can happen due to various weather conditions, medications, or emotional stress, as reported by the NIH. I suffer from it my...
I recently started taking Mirtazapine for depression. I started at 15 mg. and this was increased to 30 mg after about four weeks. I have started to suffer almost debilitating lower back pain on a daily basis which I do understand is a rare but potential side effect. In addition, my hands are slightly swollen and any repeated use of my hands/fingers also results in severe pain. The hand pain will subside after I stop whatever I was doing. In addition, I sometimes lose feeling in my hands (almost like a lack of blood supply) and when I change their position, I experience "pins and needles". Has anyone else had this combination of symptoms? Will they resolve themselves over time or should I have my Doctor switch me to something else? Any feedback would be appreciated. ## I have sto...
My daughter was prescribed Mirtazapine for insomnia. Does it cause depression? ## It's actually a type of antidepressant, but it can have the opposite of its intended effect in some people that take it. Learn more Mirtazapine details here. Is she having a problem with depression? ## Mirtazapine is an antidepressant therefore should not cause depression however of all the antidepressants it is very good for anxiety and sleep too so in some individuals this might translate to depression. If you have a vegetative type of depression rather than an anxious type you might experience sluggishness in a.m. ## Sorry, but I have been taking mirtazapine 15mg and I can confirm that it has altered my behavior, increased the frequency of my absence seizures, increased suicide attempts and worsened...
I found s pill in my car is is a small oblong pull it has 0|8 on one side and a A on the other ## Hello, Bandit! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 15mgs of Mirtazapine, which is an antidepressant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
I have just been prescribed 15mg of mirtazapine following been weaned off citalopram as it was not aggreeing with me and causing constant disturbed sleep and making me shattered and withdrawing from everything. I was prescribed mirtazapine to help me sleep but also to help my social anxiety and lift my mood to prevent me taking everything personal etc. Having read loads of comments im quite concerned about this drug is there actually any benefits or success stories out there or is it a big no no. Also very concerned on the weight gain is this with everyone. Sounds more of a nightmare than a dream!! ## Hello, Ian! How are you? It has successfully helped many people, but the only way to see if it works for you is by trying it. It could also cause some sleep disturbances for the first few ...
Forgot to take my mirtazapine 45mg can I take it with my next dose ## Hello, Bill! How are you? No, you should not double up. You should either take it as soon as you remember, or if it's close to the time for your next dose, skip and just take the next scheduled dose, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?
Would anybody reccomend Mirtazapine for uses of getting to sleep at night as both me and my grandmother struggle with getting to sleep over the whole week i get approx 3-4hrs total and have suffered sleep deprovation resulting in regular halucinations i just want a decent nights sleep ## Hello, Haribo86! How are you? It may help, but it will likely take several weeks. When you first start taking it, you may experience the side effect of ROL, which is REM onset latency, it causes you to spend less time in REM sleep than usual and it can take 3 to 4 weeks for things to improve and for that side effect to go away. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain. Has it been prescribed for you?
