I have been taking Midrin for the past 10 years for migraines because I don't get any side effects from it and it works really well. Now all of a sudden the pharmacies in my area (3 of them) are saying that they can't get any or it is on backorders for the past 3 months. Do they still make it? I tried a different medication and it makes me really dissy so I really need to know how to get the Midrin. How can I get a presecription filled and where even in the mail would be ok. ## IVE BEEN TAKEN MIDRIN FOR 8YRS ALSO NOW THEY TELL ME LAST MONTH NO MORE NOT AVALIBLE BULL, CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS OR A GENERIC IVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM MIGRANES FOR 35 YRS MIDRIN WORKS IF YOU KNOW OF SOMETHING ELSE OR BETTER LET ME KNOW THXS ## I am sorry to have to inform you of this, but that is corr...

red and white capsule with; ep1 and 101 printed on both the red and white portions of the capsule. ## Midrin is a vasoconstrictor (shrinks the blood vessels) specifically in the brain for migraines, but has allegedly been blamed for cardiovascular problems, and even the generic form is not available to legal drugstores. I've sworn by this medicine for my migraines the past 30 years, and I'm pretty frightened by this news, because I carry a bottle with me everywhere I go, just in case a migraine strikes. The nasal and under-the-tongue migraine meds prescribed in the last 10 years give me heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc., but the Midrin did NOT, so I've got to find something, or decide if this life is worth living without a medication that has helped me all of the...

I am taking Tramadol. Is it safe to take this when I take Midrin for migraine headaches. ## I didn't find any interactions, or problems listed between the two medications, but you should always check such information to be safe. Learn more Tramadol details here. If you're relatively new to taking Tramadol, you should be made aware that it is derived from an opiate and can cause side effects that are similar to those of opiates, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have took Benadryl, Midrin 3 hrs ago, can I repeat? Any other suggestions? Headache unbearable??

I have used Midrin sometimes over the last 30 years for migraines. Then I could not find any. Midrin is the only thing that works for me. I had a severe migraine that lasted 10 days and I now have a blind spot where the flashing lights were for all that time. The eye doctor I saw 24 hours into this did not find anything serious, because the effect is in the part of the brain that processes vision. I finally found out about compounding pharmacies and my doctor wrote the prescription for the 3 ingredients: C-Acet 325mg/dichloralphena/isometh65mg I found a compounding pharmacy in my area. The prescription was faxed to them with my pharmacy insurance info. I picked it up the same day. My insurance covered it with a somewhat higher co-pay. Midrin has been made hard to get as it was not teste...

How many hours should I wait after taking midrin before I take gabapentin and tramadol? ## There is really no set time frame, but you should be aware that combining these medications that can cause depression of the central nervous system, could cause you to experience more nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness than usual. In some cases, especially if a person has underlying health conditions, the FDA warns that these issues could be fatal. Have they all been prescribed for you?

My pharmacy is telling me this has been discontinued and I am desparate to find some as it is the only thing that works on my migraines! ## I'm sorry, but it appears that it is no longer available, at all. We have had several people asking about it and I can't find any company that lists it as being available. What other medications have you tried? Have you consulted your doctor about the issue? ## My doctor was unable to recommend an alternative to the Midrin/Epidrin (isometh/dichlor/apap) combination. It is the vaso-dilatation effect of that drug combo that is what seems to help the migraines brought on by changes in barometric pressure. I am going to try low dose Imitrex as an alternative, which is available both as a pill or a nasal spray, but would prefer to not use his mor...

red capsule ## Midrin is a combination medication that contains Acetaminophen, Isometheptene and Dichloralphenazone, it is most commonly used to treat severe headaches and migraines. Learn more Midrin details here. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Can you get the drug without the Apap (acetamoniphen)? I can buy and add that in. I know I definitely need the sedative part of Midrin as without it (even with strong opioid pain meds) I cannot fall asleep thus cannot totally get rid of the migraine (lay down in a quiet, dark room with a bag of ice on my head after taking my pain meds and then need to sleep...without a sedative, it can take a very long time to sleep and thus I lose a lot of my life as I deal with chronic i...

I take this med for my migraines. My insurance will not pay anything, and it is costing me almost $100 for 25 pills. Is there a generic I can purchase instead? ## Hello, Gilmer Gal! How are you? Unfortunately, what you've listed is the generic. The name brand would be Midrin. Have you tried checking the price with other pharmacies in your area? They may be cheaper. Another alternative is to try one of the discount cards, such as the free one offered on this site. You click the link, put in your email address and print the card. They do save a lot of money for some people. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, drowsiness and dizziness. Does anyone else have any suggestions that may help? ## Thank you so much. Wow, in my next life I want to be a pharmaceutical co...

My pharmacy cannot get this any more for me. Who manufactures this and who distributes it. I would like to contact them. MIDRIN ## The following medications contain the same active ingredients, and might be able to help you in a similar fashion: Amidrine Duradrin Midchlor Migquin Migratine Migrazone Migrex Mitride Hope this helps! ## Hello. You might also want to try Carnrick Laboratories Inc located in Cedar Knolls NJ phone number 201-267-2670. Hope this helps and have a nice day! ## For the Midrin that previous message was. TY ## That number doesn't work. ## CVS says they cannot get it. Walgreens says they must special order it. Finally something that works on my migraines without knocking me out. I was taking Epidrin for my migraines and it helped. It was taken off the market along with Midrin. Is there anywhere I can get it? Does anyone know of a pharmacy that makes the compound? I only have a few left and I'm feeling desperate. ## There are some compounding pharmacies that have been making it, if your doctor orders it. Can you post back with, at least, your general location? Our site is open to users all over the world, so just as an example, I know of several compounding pharmacies here in the Seattle metro area, but that's really not going to help you if you're in Georgia. ## I live in New Jersey. A relative found a pharmacy that would make the compound, however, he wants over $130 for a thirty day supply! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ## I am afraid tha...

I just got the no-name Apap Dich Isometh filled at Walmart. They said they just got it in. I haven't picked it up, yet. I actually had a Midrin prescription at another pharmacy valid until May 2012, and Walmart said they thought they could transfer the script without the doctor rewriting it. Worst case, I'll have my doctor rewrite the script. Yea! and good luck! I'll report back in a day or two as to whether it turned out as good as it sounds! ## I promised to report back in a day or two. Success. I was able to get a 60-pill supply of ISOMETH/APAP DICHLORCAP MAC from Walmart. It looks to me like Wal-mart took it upon themselves to call my doctor and have the script rewritten. When I had called about it a couple of days ago, when I said Isometh, the tech knew exactly what I w...

Can I take these two with cozaar. Do they have serious side effects? ## Hi Susan, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between any of the three medications you mentioned. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. There are however food related interactions with Cozaar. Information that I've gathered states the following: "GENERALLY AVOID: Moderate-to-high dietary intake of potassium, especially salt substitutes, may increase the risk of hyperkalemia in some patients who are using angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). ARBs can promote hyperkalemia through inhibition of angiotensin II-induced aldosterone secretion. Patients with diabetes, he...

I have found a capsule that is beige and red. It is inscribed with IP 136 on both ends of the same side of the capsule. I am trying to figure out what this is. Can you help? Thanks, Missy ## I don't have a definite ID yet, but suspect that the manufacturer is Amneal Pharmaceuticals. Going to work on getting in touch with them to see if they can help... ## Just got off the phone with Amneal at 866.525.7270 - I must say that when I called in a live person answered the phone right away and they were very friendly. I read the inscription to them, and they were able to find out that this is an old discontinued product (which explains why it's not coming up in any pill ID references). Anyways, they stated that IP 136 is a generic form of Midrin, produced by Interpharm (before they wer...

What is it prescribed for? I have low blood pressure and lightheadedness. Will it help? Local pharmacists don't have it. Where can I get it? ## Midrin is a combination drug containing Acetaminophen, Dichloralphenazone and isometheptene. It is most commonly prescribed to treat headaches. The reason your doctor probably prescribed it for you is the Isometheptene is vasoconstrictor, meaning it shrinks the blood vessels, so yes, it could help raise your blood pressure. As to where to get it, I can only suggest calling pharmacist in surrounding areas and seeing if any of them carry it or will order it in for you. ##
