my cardiologist neglected to specify what type of metropolol 50 on my prescription and so the pharmacist gave me metropolol succinate 50. when i returned weeks later for my refill i discovered that he now had changed the pills to metropolol tartarate 50. Is this going to be a problem for me or does it make no difference? ## No, that just designates the specific chemical salt that the drug is derived from, but it actually has not effect on the efficacy of the medication. I have been taking metoprolol for 10 years, heart rate hovers between 60-62 and b/p well controlled. Received new tablet as noted above, and now experiencing shortness of breath, tachycardia, and b/p 150/100. Mydoctor wants me to take this instead of a generic for it. It is very much more expensive than the generic. What is the difference. was taking metoprolol er 25 mg for a year, asked the dr for something less expensive so she switched me to metoprolol tar 25 mg. yesterday was the 1st day of taking new. I felt horrible last night, is there a difference in the 2 meds. ## Yes, there is a difference. I NEED SUSTITUTE OF METOSARTAN 25 IN ALGERIA ## I am not sure what is available in Algeria, but Metosartan contains the active ingredients Metoprolol and Telmisartan, so what you 'd want to look for is something that contains those medications, or others in the same classes, if your doctor approves a switch. Was taking Watson Metoprolol, small white round coated M 50.. I have had high blood pressure for quite some time. I was diagnosed with an irregular heart beat also.I was taking lisinopral 20mg 2 times daily. I have been prescribed 25MG of Metoprolol Tart 2X a day for a few years now, don't know exactly when I started, but at first I thought I was somewhat tired, but recently I am very tired and have no mental focus, I even had a co-worker say that I look tired and just this morning my hairdresser said the same. what is the difference between metoprolor succ and metoprolor er? ## If it's just listed as Metoprolol succinate, without another designation such as the ER, SR, XR, or etc. then it is just a regular release formulation. The ER and other abbreviations that I mentioned designate that one as being a time released formulation to help better control high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. I understand how everyone is feeling, I am currently on 50mg of Metopropol. Started out on 25 mg and gave me horrible depression, went away in about a week and a half, 3 days later my doctor bumped me up to 50 mg. depression came back for another week. I have been on the med for over a month now and feel OK with the expetion of anxiety and mild panic attacks, Cardiologist prescribed Zoloft for my anxiety and it has helped a bit.
