Were you taking it for high blood pressure? If so, then some of the effects you're experiencing could also be from that. Learn more high blood pressure details here. Have you contacted your doctor? I'm taking Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg since June 2012 and it says I can't take multivitamins while I'm on these. I've been having menstrual cramping but when I was taking multivitamins I really didn't have them. Is there a way that I can take multivitamins without interfering with the metoprolol? ## Hi Ann, I find this interaction to be odd, simply because there are vitamins and minerals in all of the foods we eat. By saying that you can't take multivitamins, it's essentially saying that you can't eat period, which makes no sense by any means of logical thinking. Lol! If I had to suggest something, it would be taking raw multivitamins (such as the one's by Garden of Life). These vitamins are still in their natural unaltered state and therefore should be...

I have a matroplol prescription I've been taken for a few months since I had a stent. I have been getting anxiety and my family doctor told me to double my dose from 50mg to 100mg. A week or so after increasing the dose, I've been experiencing dizzieness daily. Could the added motropolol be causing the dizzieness. ## Yes, it certainly could be causing it and it can do so in a few different ways. One could be if this dosage is too high for you and your blood pressure is going too low and the other could be just as a side effect of the higher dosage. Learn more Metoprolol details here. Have you checked your blood pressure recently? What have the levels been?

My doctor prescribed 25 mg at bedtime. It caused terrible nightmares and I was unable to fall back asleep after. I only took it for 3 nights then threw the rest of the pills in the garbage. ## I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of the rest of those pills. A lot of prescription drugs have side effects that are unbearable. Have you talked to your doctor yet about what happened? If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online at fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch or by phone 1-800-332-1088. I hope this helps! ## Thanks David. I'm seeing the doctor on Thursday and will give a full report. Sometimes a side effect of a pill is worse than the disease.

After bypass surgery on July 2009, I have been taking SELOKEN XL 25 alongwith other medicines. .Now Doctor has prescribed BETALOC 25.instead of SELOKEN. My q.. is whether they are of same purpose? ## They are the same medication, they both contain the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that's used to treat hypertension and cardiac conditions, such as yours. I have been taking prolomet XL 50 for a long time. Recently I got a supply of prolomet AM 50. Are these drugs interchangeable and can I switch from one to the other? What actually is the difference between these two in terms of the symptoms / diagnosis for which these are used and other effects? ## Prolomet XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol in a time released formulation, it is a beta blocker that's used to treat hypertension, as well as certain cardiac conditions. The Prolomet AM combines the Metoprolol with the calcium channel blocker Amlodipine, for better blood pressure control. And no, therefore they are not interchangeable, because one contains an additional medication.

I have been taking 50 mg twice a day of metoprolol tartrate since May. Doc wants to double the dose all at once...200 mg a day because BP was elevated a little (from a panic attack, I believe). So the 50 mg scored pills were a pink pill. The 100 mg pills are blue scored pills. If I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, is cutting the scored 100 mg tablet the same as two 50 mg tablets? I do have panic/anxiety disorder and med phobia..thats why I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, especially because of the side effects I had when I started the 50 mg tablets...i.e., anxiety, nervouness, dizziness. I expressed to her my concern and she said, "you"ll be fine". Completely did not understand or care about my concerns. Thanks for any answers you can give as far as...

My doctor instructed me to use Betaloc 25mg tablets for high blood pressure, but now the pharmacist has informed me that Betaloc is not currently available in the market. So my question is, what is an effective alternative medicine for Betaloc 25mg? ## Betaloc contains the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that's used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. So you could just ask your doctor/chemist for another medication that contains the same active ingredient.
