Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 55)
Updatedi've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.
i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.
is this withdrawal? how long will it last?
i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.
I've taken metropolo for possibly 15 yrs by now as treatment for tachycardia resulting from prolonged, undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. My thyroid disease has been treated and has long since been in remission-I expect it is permanent so I hope there aren't any surprise side effects down the road.
The numbness & tingling & colness in your feet in relation to sciatica raises a question to me. Sciatica is more likely to be related to the experience of warmth, heat, and or burning tingling/numbness, but cold would be associated w/ poor circulation. (I had sciatica for a very long while before lumbar surgery. It has a come & go quality, also debilitating leg cramping eventually. It has many manifestations, but coldness is not one of them. Perhaps you should check it out.
Jeannie, if you are going to go off M and have already had thyroid issues, be VERY aware they may crop up again. Read thru this board and be very prepared. Very very SLOW is the ticket. That's a LONG time for an outside agent (Metoprolol ) to be controlling your system, and it's going to take a long time for your system to reboot itself. The thyroid especially is going to be a real challenge, as it controls what the M has been controlling. History of Hyperthyroidism is a real red flag for withdrawal issues.
I think i feel worse this week than i have in a while .
Gosh I feel ya JR. Doing better in last few days, after 2 weeks of crap days. Tincture really has settled a lot of symptoms, but it makes me drowsy which is annoying. A fine line between control and drowsy :/
Me to JR..today has been bad one for sure.
CJJ :'(
Gosh I hope everyone improves soon.
Thanks i think its the anxiety but can be the thyroid just waiting on tinture and results to come in .
Sandra- how did it go with lowering the dosage ?
Well i think i know i was feeling worse . I got a cold ughhh . Woke up with a sore throat, runny nose and some cough. Hope i can shake this off quickly

Anxiety driven by thyroid. Tincture has pretty much shut it down. What a blessing
Just a call from my endocrinologist and my test came back normal for hyperthyroidism. Uggh now i really dont know whats going on
I have had multiple diagnostics and everything is normal, ct scan from top of chest to down to stomach, multiple urine, blood, xrays, sonogram of stomach, renin evaluation for blood flow to kidneys and everything is normal. I have no idea what to do next. It's just a matter of time till i feel better. I am really frustrated.
I hate this . I don't know whats wrong and i want to feel better every test comes out that i am ok , blood,ct scan, thyroid, abdominal test, urine, kidney function. And some docs say that i sound be better and with no withdrawal or anything.
Not a huge difference with the tincture yet. Im still feeling yucky if I try to clean or move around a whole bunch. JR- Im more than frustrated! Im so tired of this and also losing hope. The only thing that keeps me going is thinking that tomorrow might be better!
LAUREN - so did your doctor diagnose you with hyperthyroidism ? Just wanted to know because test came out ok and now recieved my thryoid calm today.
Sandra- i totally get what your saying but i just have been having a rough time and i am 2 months and like a week and i tought i would have been way better by now
Keep in mind JR that it took BEE almost a year and some others up to 9 MONTHS. Your body is basically recovering. Lets hang in there together :-) we got this!
My tests are normal too, cause output is itermittent thanks to M. I absolutely did not start feeling anywhere close to normal until she put me on a strict 3x a day regimen of the tincture, 20-30 drops every 8 hours round the clock. I was taking 5-10 drops at first as needed, apparently that allows thyroid to continue to act up. I too am beyond frustrated that all this is taking so long. Missed my noon dose and by 4pm I knew it. :(
How were you feeling with out the tinture ? I am currently feel the anxiety is getting me tired all the time . My body aches like back and chest , chills in the morning but from what my doc says its due to a lack of sleep . I keep telling my self its gonna be ok dont take any anxiety meds . I hope there is a light at the end of tunnel.
