Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 53)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

I have been off since mid Dec. Increased dosage of tincture, and other than being a bit drowsy after taking it for a couple of hours, I have been amazingly clear headed between doses. Also discovered that Potassium is chronically low when having hyperthyroid issues, and continues to muscle weakness. Make sure you are getting at least the recommended daily dose of it folks. Here's to GETTING BETTER!!! The struggle is REAL !

Look up symptoms of hyperthyroidism, you will find some VERY familiar symptoms. The problem with M related hyperthyroid issues is that they come and go rapidly, so unless you happen to get bloodwork done during an absolute crisis moment bloodwork may show nothing. That ANXIETY, heart pounding, feel like you are gonna die, BRAIN FOG, ALL related to M induced thyroid over activity

So does the thyroid eventually go back to normal ? Howbdoes the tinture make you feel or help you ?

My doc says the thyroid should reset itself after at least 6 weeks of supression, ie the tincture or tapazole. Since big pharma and my body don't play well together, she suggested the tincture. Also supplement with magnesium, potassium and a daily copper tablet. I was leery about taking the recommeneed dosage of tincture, so I started off slowly with dosage, now that I have increased it I am noticing a big improvement, where as before on low dose it cut the symptoms down but not off. Tincture stops the foggy weirdo head, heart pounding, and the HORRID ANXIETY. Makes sense since it's a physical response to the misbehaving thyroid stimulating hormone spurting randomly in your system.

So the goal is to take the tincture for 6 weeks, along with the supplents, then wean off that and see what thyroid is going to do. Unbelievable that this "medicine" has done this to all of us.

I ordered the thyroid calming compound. Lauren, do you tend to have most of your symptoms when you move around or walk around?

Yes, things are much worse if I am up and about.

My reply about the compound was yes, that's the right one by herb pharm. You can get 4 oz larger size for much less per unit from ebay. Don't make my mistake and take too little. May make you a bit drowsy, but VERY different form wonky weirdo head fog.

Sorry JR I posted earlier about the compound but they put posting on hold. Getting frustrated by random responses being put on hold for 'review'.

My eyes are aching today but the anxiety is calming down quite a bit. It seems that's how I got my energy through the anxiety and now that it's almost 3 months the anxiety has calmed way down and I need to clean up my diet in order to get some energy. Good God working on a new normal. Just sitting here thinking about things wow! Just need to be still when my body wants me to. I'm just so thankful the anxiety has subsided big time. I have my doctors appt next Mon. I hope everybody is hanging in there.
