Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 45) (Top voted first)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

So thankful to hear that somebody else has had this eye thing. I think it was Sandra talking about a bad earache poor thing. Ouch, ouch and ouch. It's so strange these aches and pains that are showing up it almost seems like we were on a pain pill and now we are feeling pain but it was just a blood pressure med so strange to me still. Thanks for your posts. I wonder how long this is going to go on for and I'm quite curious about cells holding onto and releasing of medicine when it is taken away. If anybody knows please let me know where I can find the info. I have looked around but not enough info.

I havent gotten a sore throat. I do notice tho that I feel ok unless I get up and move around like trying to clean or work. Then I get dizzy and head pressure. Its like my body craves it the more worked up it gets! I do feel feverish and chills tho.

Carolyn weird that your daughter was put on it. The inhaler med can cause increased hertcrate. I would think it is a temporary thing. Would query the doctor to find out why and how long she needs the Metoprolol! ! Short stretch shouldn't cause the issues like longer time I would guess.

We were floored when we found out what it was. Her heart rate did go up pretty high but just the one time. They gave it to her after 11pm while she was very sleepy, I think she may have been asleep even. I told her today that I felt that it was very irresponsible of the doctor to put her on that.

Thanks Anita for your post...I get on here some days and think I have the tiger by the tail and then other days like lately hands hurting anxiety and with the anxiety comes everybody leave me alone! I guess your right that he body knows what to do. I'll just keep posting and watching posts until the end. I still think we have an allergy to this metoprolol stuff because it doesn't do this to everybody. Thanks so much for posting.

Does anybody know how long it takes for the body to get rid of this krap and also anything we can do to speed it up? Looking for an easier way I guess.

I've been taking "M" for about 6 weeks now 25 mg x 2 a day. The doctor is going to try and get me off of it slowly by cutting it to 12.5 mg x 2 a day. It's the 1st day lol. Reading the comments on this website is making me very nervous!

Two months off now, and still a daily crap shoot. It is better than it was but progress is so slow. Trying very hard to be patient. I seem to react disproportionally to EVERYTHING, supplements, food, you name it. So frustrating. I read someone can't take Aleve, I cannot take any NSAID at ALL, Tylenol seems to do ok, but is pretty ineffective for achiness. I am sure my thyroid is intermittently acting up and over performing. Blood work is normal, as it comes and goes. I got some Thyroid Calming tincture made by I herb, and it does work, but again, 5-6 drops in water is all I can handle, as opposed to 30-40 drops recommended dosage! SUPER sensitive to EVERYTHING. Sigh. Ok all, keep posting, my whine fest is over.

No Lauren I haven't as far as I know. How are you feeling? I'm just waiting for 6 months to go by and see how I'm feeling then. I'm still amazed by this stuff called metoprolol. I hope they post for you cause I know it helps so much to get feed back on how your feeling.

Hi guys . Glad everyone is posting again . I made the mistake of taking zoloft for 2 days and i think it made my anxiety worse . Plus could not sleep well . Going to quit that and just take some l thenine like jimbo recommend.
