Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 27) (Top voted first)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Sandra Don't give up! Gosh I KNOW that feeling you are talking about.... Horrid. My house is a disaster of epic porportions!!! I am trying to NOT let myself get too upset about it, pointless. I do what i can, when i can. Sending you a hug.

Thank you Lauren . I feel a little better today . I forced my self to clean around the house and i think it felt like exercise ,so it helped . My cold also is slowly getting better. I am going to try to excercise everday if possible .i think thats why i felt horrible i hadn't walked for a week and i think that was helping. I am going to try to tinture out but start slowly on that maybe 5-6 drops

Yea i was 2 months on February 15 . We are so close to 3rd month and from what i have read it takes about 3-4 months so i knkwni just have to stay as positive as i can. I am also going to start to do the dash diet and walking more my goal is to get off all meds period.

Tell me about it am having a horrible time with this cold . I haven't started the tinture for now since i am on antibiotics and cough medicine. I know it takes time but its rough.

I found that the tincture works best at a medium dose, it makes me too sleepy at anything higher than 15 drops, so I take a larger dose at night, 25 drops at bedtime, then 15 drops around 4am, 15 more noonish. It really shuts down that physical crawling anxiety response. I had to force myself to eat in the thick of things off tincture, doc said protein and tons of water every 2-3 hrs, have less issues with tincture tamping off anxiety
The lower doses of tincture as needed did not produce the consistent coverage, and made me feel stranger than the regular every 8 hr doses. You couldn't pay me enough to take lexapro, the withdrawal from that is brutal and very very prolonged. Look it up. Horrid. Use a natural tincture or supp yes, no big pharma drama anymore for me.

All of you should get checked for Acid Reflux problems. I hope that it fixes most of you to take H2 blockers or PPI inhibitors.

I'm just saying. You can have acid reflux and not even know it. In my cas it was spotty but I ate a lot layin down. Big mistake.

Anyway please get checked. If there is no other reason why you are having blood pressure problems or heart rate issues, then this MAY be your problem

I've been reading a lot of negative reports about Metropolol on this thread. For me it was a life saver and was grateful for it. Now my physician is removing me from it and 'sliding me sideways' off Metropolol to Propranolol at a 100 mg Metropolol to 40 mg Propranolol equivalency - my dose was 300 mg a day, so I'm sliding off at 40 mg Propranolol 3 times a day and then told I can reduce. Having slid over today, I am dizzy, the room is moving at times, my blood pressure (while in a good range) is flip flopping, and my blood sugar count, while not too high is going up and down sufficiently to be irritating. Thank God that I have something to cut back on the symptoms.

Guys and Gals...I cant take this much longer. I have had a terrible deep ear ache that radiates from my neck to ear to head. Went to a doc and it is not an ear infection. Im also having severe back pain. Weakness is still there. Dizziness is somewhat better. I just feel completely hopeless. Im a little over two months off (I took a sliver dec 29) im sick and tired of it..

Sandra I am CONVINCED you are having thyroid issues. Please get levels checked if you haven't already. M messes with thyroid.

Still a daily crap shoot here. Working on tweaking supps and tincture so they help me better. Lord I sure wish it were easier.

Yikes! Lightheadedness hit me bad today. How can I go weeks without having it then it hits me again? So frustrating! I will be 3 month off on mar 29.

Same here Lauren, it seems that the good days are getting a little bit longer but like you ALWAYS worried about the other shoe dropping. For me it seems the more I strain my body doing yard work, trying to work out etc..is what brings the bad days on. Prayers for all

JR-i was literally on a sliver when I stopped. Its still affecting me unfornutely. I was on 12.5 for 1 1/2 years then got down to a sliver when I stopped. Crazy that its still bothering me.
