Yes, I was substituted this drug after using Toprol XL (50) and my feet started to swell almost immediately. I stopped taking this med and the swelling stopped. My feet are back to normal. Going back to Toprol XL

Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and some cardiac conditions and yes, it has been known to cause edema, in some people, especially if they are prone to it for some reason, such as in the case of Congestive Heart Failure patients.

Have you contacted your doctor?

In this case, you will probably require a switch to a different medication, or the addition of a diuretic to reduce the fluid accumulation.

Yes it did for me very very bad size of my knee. I was on 200 milligrams very very bad. Chest palpitations bad feelings in chest ankles swelling ringing in the ears dizziness.
