I have fluid on my ears, sinus congestion and headache for which my DR prescribed Z-pack and this Mehylprednisolone pack on yesterday. I got the meds from pharmacy and read instructions yesterday. Woke up this morning thinking I knew how to take the medication - all six pills before breakfast. Without double checking, I took all six pills before breakfast! For some reason I just had it in my head that line one was before breakfast and line two before lunch...etc... I hope I will be ok! ## They can be taken, all at once, so there's nothing to worry about, unless your doctor feels otherwise. But it could cause you to experience more intense side effects, which may include nausea, dizziness, nervousness, irritability and insomnia, as reported by the FDA. Due to the insomnia, some peopl...

I just started a new job at a call center, we are very busy right now and i suffer from anxiety and panic disorder. I just started my methylprednisone pack and after reading the side effects im afraid the nervousness will affect me at work. I take prozac, clonazepam, triavil and trazadone. Should i be taking this steroid? ## Hello, Candie! How are you? Yes, it can cause anxiety as a side effect in some people, as reported by the FDA, along with the nervousness, insomnia, acne and irritability. However, it shouldn't completely negate your other medications, so they should still help. It may, however, slightly reduce the effect of the Triavil and Trazodone. Have you consulted your doctor? They may want you to temporarily increase your Clonazepam, while on this steroid.

Took initial 6 pill dose last night as I ate dinner. (I thought that pack dosage was set up the same was as the other and I would take the other 5 tonight, 4 tomorrow etc etc) I then noticed tonight that I was supposed to be taking these throughout the day; after I just took 3. I did not take the other two. Should I just skip and then start the breakfast, lunch dinner routine for rest of packet? And leave the two from today out of the equation. ## Hello, Bobby! How are you? They don't have to be taken at various times, they can be taken all at once, unless your doctor has some specific reason for you not to do so. They are normally only spaced out to try to help minimize the side effects, taking them altogether can cause some serious nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness and inso...

I took this for 7 days due to a bells palsy attack , I take birthcontrol and now I have terrible breakthrough bleeding , exhaustion, body aches, sweating ,appetite out of control, and diaharea !, I have been off the steroid and valtex for three days now! Help please! ## Hello, Cajun! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement, yet? It may take a week, or so for things to settle down and for these effects to go away, though the breakthrough bleeding may take a bit longer. That's likely due to the Methylprednisolone, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience insomnia and acne.

is it ok to take both amoxicillin and methylprednisolone at the same time for bronchiatis ## Hello, Victor! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed and they are often prescribed together to treat such conditions. Though you should only take them, if they have been prescribed for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. The typical steroid side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability and acne. Is there anything else I can help with?

Over 60: can I take Levofloxacin 500 MG Tab safely with prescribed (together) Methylpred 4 MG pak ? Chronic sinus sufferer... Just started. ## Hello, Florida! How are you? Actually no, it is not recommended that these be taken together, by anyone, regardless of age and being elderly can worsen the issues that may occur. They both tend to increase the amounts of the other that you absorb and, in the case of Levofloxacin, the FDA reports that it can significantly increase the risk of a tendon rupture. The other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, insomnia and diarrhea. It may be best to double check with your doctor as they may want to prescribe something different. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No thanks...I've almost ...

I've only taken 2 tabs of the 6 day pak my doc prescribed. Is it ok to stop now - I really don't want to take it anymore. ## Hello, Molly! How are you? I took my 1st 2 pills of Methylprednisolone but it needed to be taken before breakfast & I took it a few minutes after breakfast. Will that affect the drug? Is it ok? Will the meds still work? Thank you. ## Hello, Monica! How are you? Yes, it really won't make a difference, so there's nothing to worry about. They have you split them up to try to help minimize the side effects, but you could actually take them all at once each day, if you so chose. The FDA lists nausea as being a common side effect, so actually taking it after you eat can help minimize that. Other typical side effects may include dizziness, headache, nervousness and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Exactly how long do these side effects last? I feel like I'm going to go a bit crazy, I...

Just started a 4 mg methylprednisolone pack along with Levofloxicin 500 MG for unremitting bronchitis and sinus infection. After a day it seems my cough is much more productive and causing hoarseness in the morning. Is that the medications causing it to break up? ## Hello, Bluejayye! How are you feeling? Most likely, but only a medical consult would enable you to know for sure. I took my daily 4 mg dosages tables of Methylprednisolone by mistake all at the same time at breakfast daily. 6 the first morning, 5 the next morning etc. Will this cause the drug to be less effective ## Hello, Clifton! How are you? No, there shouldn't be any problem doing that. Sometimes, it's even better to do so, since the medication may cause insomnia, if taken at night. But you should double check with your doctor to bed certain. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, elevated blood pressure and fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I did the same today with my first day's dose. With my cervical radiculopathy & cervical disc herniations (for which this was prescribed), I am having trouble sleeping as it is. Wondering if it's ok to simp...

I just finished my 6day pack of methylprednisolone on sunday. it's now tuesday, and I still feel kind of out of it. Yesterday I felt fine, but today not so much. I feel tired and dizzy. Is this normal? ## Hello, Shortiegirl! How are you? I'm sorry about how you're feeling. Yes, that is normal, the steroid remains active in your body for a week or so, after you finish your course of treatment. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience insomnia, irritability and nervousness. Is there anything else I can help with?

After a few hours I took my 3rd pill for the day and another patch rash developed just a ways under the other one, I've also been experiencing headeches and occasional light headedness....I don't know what to do shoul i continue to take it until tomorrow or what? ## Hello, Alex! I was put on the 6 day methylprednisolone pack because of a back injury. I just took my first two tablets this morning. After I took them, I read its bad to take with high blood pressure. I have high blood pressure and take lisinopril for this but it doesn't always control it. Would I be okay just not to take any more of the pills? I only took the two, that's all. I would rather not take this medication after hearing all the side effects. ## Hello, Amy! How are you? How high is your blood pressure? There are cases where it may still be appropriate to take this medication, generally the doctor needs to evaluate whether or not the benefits outweigh the possible risks. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne and edema. Ho...

Years ago I took some kind of steroid pill that my ENT dr.put me on for a sinus infection. I don't remember what dose or how many days I was suppose to be on it but the first pill I took made me feel really weird like unusual and un clear thinking. Kinda like crazy feeling in my head. Now my ER doctor gave me a a pack of Methylprednisolone 6 day supply =first day 6 pills 2nd day 5 pills 4th 4pills etc, but I am really afraid to try steroids again after the first experience. I told this to the ER dr but he told me they make everyone kinda feel weird, so I really don't know what to do with his answer to my concern, and if I did take the first dose and it made me feel weird, what should I do? ## Hello, Diane! i complained to my dr about a dry cough i was having after pneumonia sickness. He prescribed methylprednisolone 4mg Can I take mucinex to help ? ## I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between the two, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. However, the Mucinex is liable to make the coughing worse, since it is an expectorant that helps expel mucous. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was diagnosed with bacteria pneumonia a couple weeks ago and finished by antibiotic treatment on Monday. I was prescribed methylprednisolone (medrol) after having surgery to repair a herniated disc in my back. I took the 6 day dose pack and had to stop 4 days in for mood swings, aggressiveness, insomnia, trouble breathing, disorganized and repetitive thoughts, paranoia, just too many to list. I had to sit in a dark room for hours on end just to gather my thoughts at times and avoided people entirely. The worst of it lasted for about 7 days, it's now been over 2 weeks since I stopped taking it. I thought I was out of the woods until the mood swings started again 2 days ago out of nowhere. Thankfully I have 1 month left to recover from back surgery before returning to work. I hope the symptoms go away by then. My advice, ask your doctor if there is an alternative medication you can take ...

I was taking the methylprednisolone for some pain I had in my neck and arm. The doctor prescribed the six day pack and I followed the directions and finished the prescription. The problem I'm having now started the day after I stopped taking the medication. The day after stopping the meds I got incredibly dizzy. It's been almost two weeks now and I'm still feeling dizzy. It's not as bad as the first few days but I still feel quite dizzy. It happens all day long and doesn't seem to be effected by movement or food. Could I be having side effects from the meds this long after finishing them? ## Hello, Marcie! How are you? That would be very unusual, though some side effects can linger after you finish your course of it, they usually only do so for a few days to a week. ...
