I need HELP ASAP finding a Doc who will write methadone for chronic back pain. I have sufferred a ruptured L3/L4 disc, then fell 22 feet & broke my back in 3 places. Mostly recently a horriffic traffic accident with 5 broken ribs & collarbone, internal injuries, etc. I shouldn't have lived. I have sufferred greatly from the rollercoaster of narcotics and they stop working in3-4 weeks anyway-iwill not use them EVER AGAIN. Please Help! My husband was given drug test and had taken 160mg. of methadone over four day period. It had been 32 days since he had taken any. Will this show up on a gc/ms test after amount of time? ## The only thing it should be detectable in after that amount of time would be a hair sample. My father was a chronic pain patient with a spinal tumor who was moved off of Oxycontin and Dilaudid to methadone. Unfortunately, after a long, log battle, he became completely paralyzed and the tumor was in the process of killing him. He asked to be terminally sedated. The doctors put him on a morphine drip, but even after they quadrupled his dose, he was still in pain and awake. Eventually, they got to 4000mg a DAY of IV morphine, and it was ineffective. We did our research, and it showed there is NO conversion rate for methadone to morphine equivalents as there is with every other opioid. In other words, just to duplicate the 30-40mg a day of morphine he was taking would have required anywhere from 240-3000mgs of morphine - forget actually sedating him. I am scheduled for knee replacement surgery and I have preop blood work orders coming up soon. I have been taking Norcos for pain and ran out. Unfortunately, I started going through withdrawals. My daughter gave me a methodone pill to help. Now I am concerned it will show up on my blood test. I don't want to appear like I am an addict, I desperately need this surgery due to the pain it is causing me. I am 63 years old and I realize I made a serious mistake as I have been reading about methadone and it is a dangerous drug if not monitored by a physician.
