Methadone Clinic And Drug Testing (Page 5) (Top voted first)

I just started going to the methadone clinic about 4 weeks ago. I used to be a very heavy drug user, Heroin and pills were my life. When I took my initial drug test at the clinic I asked them if my marijuana levels were really high, and they told me they don't test for marijuana. I live in Texas. Does anyone know what kind of drug test they are using and exactly what they test for? I thought on all standard drug tests, they test for THC. Also I mistakenly took a 1mg football mistaking it for an aleve. In highschool i used to put them in aleve bottles. My mom just moved and the bottle was up in the medicine cabinet in the new house. OOPS. When I started feeling extremely relaxed, it clicked at what I had just ingested. This was 10 days ago today. The clinic tested me this morning. I'm not very familiar with this drug test and what exactly they are looking for. I used to work in a treatment center (before relapsing) and the addictionologist told me that klonopin can be detected for up to 2 weeks, but it has a MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT longer half life than xanax. I'm just looking for some people's feedback that are familiar with the clinic and the drug testing there. I AM VERY AWAY THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO MIX BENZOS WITH METHADONE. It has taken several of my friend's lives. No one has to tell me that, I have experienced it first hand. It was an honest mistake but if I come up positive, there is NO WAY my counselor will believe that. What do drug addicts do... con and lie to people. I'd appreciate any feedback people can give me.

Did you get your results back yet? My husband is going and had a drug screen. They said it came back positive but there was not way. Come to find out, they swap the urine from one cup to another after you hand it to them.

I have NEVER heard of a clinic doing this! Are you self pay for your methadone or just the tests that they keep doing on you? Either way it is not normal to test weekly although we are at their mercy but if it is causing a financial burden get the director and respectfully explain the situation.

Thanks my sister and bro-unlawful have been going to pain management clinic for a few years. But they didn't have to go everyday until they test positive which is meth. They have 2 boys and I don't understand why they are still letting them spend almost 200.00 a week for that and drive an hour away and not report it. They can't even pay their bills. I just wanna know how it works or is she lying to me

The same thing just happened to me. I have not been dropped a level, yet, but it's totally BS. I wouldn't even know where to get morphine, let alone use it. I am hoping my 3yrs off clean urines helps my case. I did however find out that poppy seeds metabolize as morphine. So with this extra weight I've gained from methadone, I've been on a health food kick lately, and gid only knows what kinda seeds, are in some of the weird ass rabbit food I've been doing myself to eat. It is very frustrating cause I have never been so squeaky clean in my life, I'm even eating healthy, and I have this "positive" on my UA records now, and they say they believe me, but I just can't help but think in my face they say one thing, but are probably thinking another.

I don't like to hear about anyone getting on the methadone program.....if u thought getting clean was hard....you most likely will never get off methadone...it destroys your body.... in a few years your teeth will be gone....I just spent a year getting off of methadone....went through hell...I wish you the best.

That is so ridiculous I know at my clinic they can only test you wvery 28 days unless you're phasing up or applying for an exemption. Frigging crazy man!

Amen to that I've been on methdone almost 10years now and I don't care what they say at methdone clinics yes it takes q huge toll in ur teeth no matter how food or bad they r before u start!!! That said I have had several back surgeries an popped hydrocodones like m&M's, pain wise mdone has been a god sent it takes care of the pain without euphoria or messing me up and I only take enough to still feel pain so I'm trying to say low but 50mg has been as low as I can go or there's no picking up my son at all but I'm total over addiction so am basically using it for pain management at the moment there is nothing more docs cab do for le other than pills so I want to stay with it but am tired of dealing w the clinic and the stigma that comes w going to me one clinics. I do aqree thought if u can withdraw from whatever without methdone do it. It not worth dealing with the bull crap that comes w it

Unless u screwed up or something ive been on clinic to a year and know slot who are. Tests are random but almost always just once a month unless it counselor is questioning somethin then they will order more. Sorry hopefully u find out what there questioning.

Omg! I totally understand what you are going through! I think you should be okay! Even if you are Not okay....and it is your first screw up normally they won't kick you out.....plus, there's so many other Methodone Clinics to transfer too.....trust me!

I am terrified right now of something similar.....but mine is alcohol, they say you can't have alcohol in your urine or they will drop you at my clinic...the funny thing is, is that Everyone at my Clinic drinks and No one has gotten kicked out...if I get kicked out for that I will Tell Everyone and get them shut down for Not being consistent!!

I think you will be ok on the football... They usually send your urine out to a lab and have it tested and also a benzo count to see not only if you have benzos in your system but what kind. I find it hard to believe you say you have been a Hard core drug user and heroin and pills were your life and you didn't know you was taking a xanax cause you put them in a aleve bottle?? sorry dude but ive heard better ones than that. Im not trying to be a prick but come on man, I can spot a xanax from 10 feet away. I started taken them in 86 and ive never taken one by mistake. I could be wrong... xanax has a very short life and washes out of your system very quick. I switched from zans to clonazepam and the zans were out of my system in less than 2 weeks. If your young and have a fast metabolism, and not a lot of fat on you then i would say less than a week but you will be ok. These clinics only care about two things. Money being the biggest thing and not being sued after a client od's from methadone and to many benzo's.

I had one 4oz margarita and got called into the methadone program. I had the drink at 2 in the afternoon and they took my urine at 10am. do u think it will come up dirty. I have bottles and haven't done heroin in 3yrs. From time to time like twice a year I may have a margarita.

Most clinics are monthly. They're obviously f*****g with you. One random test a month but they can give you one everyday if they want to.

Although Klonopin and Xanax or both benzo's, unless they are specifically testing for Klonopin, most of the time it will not show up. Xanax however will pop right up. I do know that it cost a little extra for them to run a test to differentiate the two and most of the time they don't do that. I'm not talking about other places because I don't know for sure but at the methadone clinic I do know this. Also , if you take Xanax every day, most likely five days later you will probably fail. If you take Xanax only when needed and maybe just one time every couple weeks, you should be safe on day three. If you never take them and you just took one one time, still I would wait three days to be absolutely certain but it will likely come out within two days. So three days is your safe day. Otherwise, the average amount of time it stays in your system and I'm talking benzodiazepines, is 10 days.

Well first of all I live in texas and as far as I know my clinic does not test for marijuana. They do test for everything else as far as I know and they send it to a lab. So I'm guessing that they do see if you take marijuana or not and for some reason don't care. That boggles my mind but whatever. Now when you take your test depending on the level of alprazolam or benzo that is in your system, yes, they can tell and they may believe your story! But then again they have heard every story under the sun and then some but most methadone clinics are more interested in your money than you failing a drug test there. So if anything you'll probably get a slap on the wrist and a lecture especially if it's your first time failing a ua. But if this is a continual thing they can lower your level to where you don't get as much takeout or things like that. But I don't know if all texas methadone clinics do the same thing. I have been going to my methadone clinic for 10 years now for almost 10 years. I've had several spinal surgeries in my life and I got addicted to hydrocodone and then I lost my insurance. The pain in my spine is real and there are no current surgeries to help me with my situation. Methadone is the first drug I've ever taken that doesn't f me up and I don't feel any euphoria from it because it goes straight to the intense pain in my body. But I guess I could say I do feel a bit of euphoria when my muscles are relaxed. That's about the most euphoria I feel but of course that was not your question that's just a little backstory to help you know that I know what I'm talking about. As far as my clinic goes I've failed many ua's for benzos and got several flaps on the hand and lectures until they lowered my take out for a couple months until I passed three ua's and then they put me back on my regular takeout which is the highest they go at my clinic. They used to do a month and then some kind of issue happened so they stopped doing that. They used to do two weeks then an issue happened with that as well. So there are very few people that get takeouts at my clinic and if you do something and screw up you lose the takeout and the most you're allowed to get is one week and that doesn't matter if you've been going 10 years like I do!!! Now I do want to point out that I am prescribed 1 milligram xanax 3 times a day and as long as I have a prescription for it my clinic has no problem with it and on top of that I am prescribed a very low dose of ritalin twice a day. I had a son. He's almost 2 years old. I went into terrible postpartum in my brains. Never been the same since so all these meds are to get me back on track as bad as it sounds the xanax has been my saving grace and the ritalin has kept me on track because I start too many projects in too many rooms and get sidetracked by my son. He is in a completely safe environment so if you do get any medications or if you do take any xanax wait till after your ua that way you have plenty of time to get clean cuz if you're going to do it you're going to do it but I know you said it was an accident. I think honestly you would have seen the difference because the taste is different but if you did accidentally do it I know it can happen so good luck but when they bring it up be honest about it and look them in the eye and try to assure them that this is not a regular thing and make sure you pass the next ua so you can prove your word so good luck with that and if you ever have any questions related to a texas methadone clinic please feel free to write me back.

Hi. I just had a question. I live in Michigan and I don't even know how the methadone clinic that I am in is even open. Not only do they commit Medicare fraud. I have been smoking marijuana for the last eight years and I have been in the same methadone clinic for the last six years. So they had been giving me problems about the fact that I smoke marijuana especially after I could get my Lara card, they finally after six years said that I had to get my marijuana card or that I was going to get kicked out of the clinic on 175 mg. I went to try and get my Lara card, and although I have endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and I am a total mental case they told me that the only thing that they cared about anymore was my interstitial cystitis. So I signed a release for him to get that paperwork the problem is that it is over two years old because for so many years I fought and fought for the right to just not live in pain. I thought until I could not fight anymore and I joined a methadone clinic. It was easy to join as it is now. To get your marijuana card you have to have information and diagnosis and it has to be in the last two years. If you just walk into a methadone clinic and tell them that you inject heroin and that you have about a $300 a day use, you can immediately get 45 mg of methadone and be up to 80 mg by the end of the week. I agree with methadone as it has helped my pain and saved my life as well as my husbands. But now I may be getting kicked off of my methadone because I smoke marijuana. I think it is wrong and that they should have made that a must have since the beginning. I think that you should have to be on a heroin blocking dosage in order to get on methadone because they just use methadone to feel higher off of heroin. I am doing good but they want to kick me off, I don't understand that especially when I don't drink alcohol. The state wants me to have my medical marijuana card in order to stay on methadone, but that same state of Michigan will not give me my medical marijuana card. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. I have had no counseling services and obviously I'm not going to give you the name of the place that I attend until I know that something is going to be done. There is so much more to tell but I need to know that I will be taken care of and don't even have to think about not having my medication.

I'm on methadone and 2mg xanax and the clinic and my psychiatrist are both ok with it. And they don't test for marijuana bc it's basically legal and if ur over 21 they don't even care about alcohol. Just opiates, coke, methamphetamine, and the other hard s***.

You should be good after 10 days. I have been going to my clinic for a year and 3 months and was on 60mg a day. I also consume marijuana and they don't care. I have had almost all clean UA's for the time I've been there other than a couple months after starting I got arrested and released but it was a holiday and weekend so I missed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Mondays dose & took Xanax to sleep thru the w/d until I was able to dose, so even tho I didn't take opiates and had a legit excuse I got my dose lowered back to 30mg and had no takehomes for awhile.. But up until last week I was stable on 65mg ready to start going down and I got a UA.. Well I had taken a couple 1mg Xanax 5 days before due to excruciating tooth pain (I got like 6 broken missing teeth plus wisdom teeth coming sideways pushing the shards into my gums). Anyway my UA came back dirty for the benzo and I got dropped 5mg and lost my takehomes which were weekends and one extra take-home tuedays also I was about to be put on weekly takehomes which is now ****ed. I just paid today to retest my UA as I talked to my counselor and told her I didn't take any and the only possibility that I could think of was dust from the Xanax getting on Tylenol's in the same bottle. She was skeptical but believed me since i told her I would be dirty the first time I failed. But if it was a one time thing you should be good after 10 days.

Has anybody here done a retest as I mentioned above? I thought they would be testing a new sample but evidently they just test the sample that failed further. Is there any chance it will pass? Do the metabolites weaken or go away if the sample has been sitting for a week? When they told me about this option to retest I thought it would be a new sample and I would be good as I haven't taken anything since then. I really don't care about my dose being lowered I just want my takehomes back & if I don't pass the retest I have to stay on daily pickups for a month. Thanks in advance of anybody has answers. I know this is an old thread but I see recent answers, so it's worth a shot if anybody has had experience...

The retest we'll come back exactly what you took like Xanax Klonopin Valium they test for specific benzodiazepines. Sometimes Benadryl can come back a false positive for benzos. But they're just testing for a specific benzos
