Methadone Clinic And Drug Testing

I just started going to the methadone clinic about 4 weeks ago. I used to be a very heavy drug user, Heroin and pills were my life. When I took my initial drug test at the clinic I asked them if my marijuana levels were really high, and they told me they don't test for marijuana. I live in Texas. Does anyone know what kind of drug test they are using and exactly what they test for? I thought on all standard drug tests, they test for THC. Also I mistakenly took a 1mg football mistaking it for an aleve. In highschool i used to put them in aleve bottles. My mom just moved and the bottle was up in the medicine cabinet in the new house. OOPS. When I started feeling extremely relaxed, it clicked at what I had just ingested. This was 10 days ago today. The clinic tested me this morning. I'm not very familiar with this drug test and what exactly they are looking for. I used to work in a treatment center (before relapsing) and the addictionologist told me that klonopin can be detected for up to 2 weeks, but it has a MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT longer half life than xanax. I'm just looking for some people's feedback that are familiar with the clinic and the drug testing there. I AM VERY AWAY THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO MIX BENZOS WITH METHADONE. It has taken several of my friend's lives. No one has to tell me that, I have experienced it first hand. It was an honest mistake but if I come up positive, there is NO WAY my counselor will believe that. What do drug addicts do... con and lie to people. I'd appreciate any feedback people can give me.

From what I see on your post you should not have any problem. I live in Texas also and at the Methadone Clinic I used there was not much of a problem with being dirty anyway. They didnt even require you be dirty with a opiate to get in the clinic. To my knowledge benzos only stay in your system about 72 hours.....I know that first hand. There was not a real problem with being dirty. Most attending a Methadone clinic are usually dirty from time to time anyway. Good Luck

thanks, i appreciate that. they made me test before they dosed me and you're right i know there aren't really any consequences. i just want to be able to get more take outs sooner, getting up at 4 in the morning is a pain in the ass. if ur dirty here, that will hinder take outs.

Most of these drug test look for controlled substances, so they will more than likely check for the Benzodiazepines.

However, if you only took one and several days passed, before the test, then you were probably clean.

My questions is, how did you mistake a Xanax for an Aleve? Are you saying your mother keeps them in an Aleve bottle? I know the pharmacy doesn't dispense them that way. Also, most Xanax footballs are not blue.

I HAVE TAKEN METHADONE EVERY DAY FROM 150 MILS TILL I JUST ABOUT RUN OUT. I GOT A UA AND TURNED UP CLEAN, NO TRACE. TOOK 40MILS THE DAY BEFORE MY TEST AND 30 MILS THE DAY OF MY TEST. DR. SAID I MUST BE SELLING IT OR GIVING IT AWAY AND SHUT ME OFF. HELP ME EXPLAIN. THEY SAY BODY FAT HELPS RETAIN IT AND I HAVE NO FAT. I ONLY EAT EVERY OTHER DAY, WORK MY A-- OFF IN THE HEAT AND DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS.

the doctor was checking for methadone specificly because i was perscibed it and vicoprophin laratab with ibuprphine on the back side for influmation .i also took 700mils of soma not perscribed and the found me clean as a new born . now in my medical record it says i eather sell my s**t or give it away. i have my two lower disks welded to my tail bone so money is hard to go out and earn but i do what i can and selling my life suport isn't in my book. i'm 53 and a little old school i would rather bust as- and feel i have good money not what my mom would call blood money

I know that most generic xanax's are football shaped, they are round, but a certain pharmacy used to give me blue footballs that look similar to aleve. I used to pop them like pez so i'd put them in an aleve bottle and keep them in my purse at school so if i got caught with medication it would be something similar to tylenol and not a benzo. Somehow a bottle got put back in my mother's medicine cabinet and has been there for a while, because i graduated hs in 2004.

hey i took 2 lortabs about 3 or 4 days ago and today when i went to the clinic i was told that i would be tested tomorrow and if i passed my drug screen i would be able to start getting my take outs. my question is will i pass or will the lortabs show up?please help

Did it show up for you? I saw alot of sites say it takes 8-24 hours to leave your system, and my concern is I had a fever the other day my mom gave me what she thought was tylenol and well she said it have been vicodin. I am like a week a way from getting 6th takeout, and the day after I took the vicodin I was tested like 6-8 hours later so I am hoping I dont come back dirty..

To Scott. You shouldn't be injecting your dose that's probably why it left your system faster than normal. Do a hair test it should be in there or find another doctor. I cant see any other reason why it wouldn't show up I'm on 235mgs a day at a clinic and it stays in a person's system a while but if your injecting it, it doesn't get.a chance to get into your fat cells. Take it the right way

Benzos will stay 6 weeks or 42 days in a person whom uses benzos on a regular basis. 72 hours in a clean system(meaning never a benzo) yes maybe then it would not show but depends on eating,drinking,exercising,fat cells--all of the above. And if you use a benzo once in a while, say 2-3 times a week, the half life can and will keep you positive for weeks. I don't care whom you want to believe but wouldn't you rather believe the guy whom is telling you the safest? I know first hand and second hand. and third if I had one. Also the more and more deaths from overdoses of methadone with benzos are starting to give people x amount of time to stop taking benzos or you're out the door. I hope I save at least one person.

I just wanted to let you know that my Councelor basically tells me when I have my piss test because she tells me I have to meet with her and we were moving me to the next phase so that means piss test I can always pin point when I will have to pee for a drug test

This is to those who inject methadone! Methadone does NOT properly break down in the blood stream and the particles that are left behind build up. When the methadone particles that have build-up break away from the vascular wall they can then travel to your heart, lungs and even your brain resulting in heart attack, stroke or aneurysm . Unlike a vascular blood clot the methadone particles do NOT over time dissipate/break down once they are there they are there to stay so next time you have that urge to reach for the needle remember that every time you shoot up methadone you are increasing the odds of you later dropping dead in front of those you love......

If I am in the methadone clinic and I take a 10 m.g methadone pill but the clinic drug tests me, is it the same 10 m.g pill as the one I take in the clinic?

Methadone can cause you to look high, nodd out. To receive takehomes you have to have so much clean time and they do test regularly and randomly... Law was at least twice a month now its went up to 4xs a month.. If he was doing something else he most likely would not have take homes unless he was bringing in clean pee..but i would say its just the methadone and he probably needs to get split doses..his body is metabilizing the methadone to quick if he were to take half in morning then half in the evening he wouldnt be looking high all the time and probably wont have to move up his dose.. Also his dose could be too high..if its holding 24 hrs but hes still getting high he needs to move his dose down

Hey, my husband and I both have been on mmt since oct2011. In the beginning they tested us once a week & after having all clean tests, it was once a month & we worked our way to getting take homes & only going in scheduled once a month to get our med, ua & counselor meeting. We have to call diversion 2x a week an subject to having to go in with our meds to count & observed ua-- we both had same DOC dilaudid an that progressed to heroin. I was dosed at 130 & him @120. I've now gone down to 70 & trying to wean down completely. He's slowly going down also. I never had issue with nodding or feeling messed up but my husband does. It just effects people differently. He is selfconcious bc he's worked hard to get where he is and it's hard to see him like that sometimes bc it brings back hard memories. As he's tapered down it's gotten better. IMO your hubs should talk to the Dr at the clinic an tell him what's going on. In my state clinic is open 7days week & only closed on 4days a year. If the clinic is open 7days a week an he's got take homes, he's likely passing his drug tests. I hope thus helps you some & wish him very best of luck.. ??

Usually only the people on a really high dose will not as methadone doesn't activate the receptors that give a "high".

I've been in mmt for a few yrs & I'm currently going down. I love my counselor & I've been to every rehab and treatment there is. Nothing worked, mostly bc I wasn't ready. I told my counselor from the start I would not lie & be straight up about everything bc this was my last chance at life. I suggest you be upfront and real. They can't help you if you aren't up front. If you don't have much fat & you only took 1, likely you are okay, but you will earn more trust & self accountability if you're real with them. Good luck & wish you the very best

Do methadone clinics test your take homes for methadobe? I go in once a week but I need a special take home, a day early. I'm supposed to take my dose in front of them, but I already took it. Can they test it for methadone?

Just be honest about it. If the clinic is any good they might be willing to do another u/a to see that you are now clean from the 1 mg football, just don't have it happen again because then they won't believe you. Methadone clinic should work with you the first few months, but after a point the excuses, even if true, tend not to be believed. I am on methadone in NM and if you're telling the truth they should at least retest you to see that the one time use is true. There are many methods they can tell if your u/a was tapered with, so don't do that, EVER. If you are serious about your recovery just be honest and you will gain their trust and most importantly, respect for being able to be honest and not lie. Good luck, just keep fighting to get clean, it is possible.
