Methadone No No No!!!!! (Page 3)

Methadone is the worst drug and most wicked drug in this entire world. They give it to people like me with pill problems and then you can never get off the stuff. I made the worst mistake of my life going into a Methadone program. The people at these places pretend like they are there for you but they are not. They are there to keep you on this drug that rots away at your mind and body, and they do it well. They want your money. Do you know how cheap liquid methadone is? They milk off your addiction and act like they are doing something good for people like me. I HATE Methadone. I hate what it's doing to me and I HATE that I came in this place for a pill addiction four years ago, at 22, told I had one year and I would be weened off and here I am. I fight with these people all the time about this but they come up with a million excuses for why I should STILL be on this crap. It is going to kill me, just like the other pills, maybe just slower and more agonizing.

Suboxone is just like methadone! It is a maintenance medication with an opioid in it. It is physically addictive and causes severe withdrawal symptoms when stopped. Now subutex, on the other hand, is different. It contains just the naloxone with no opioid. It prevents the the one using it from achieving a "high". It also has no withdrawal symptoms and can be taken for as long as needed .

Sarah,I would like u also to probe was what you said , the only time I have ever bashed methadone as during the worst of my addiction.
Without methadone my first child would be dead from my $1000 a day herion addiction. I found out I was pregnant and the doctor told me the baby wouldn't make it through that kind of withdrawal, I swore I wanted a better life for my daughter and went to the clinic. I am Australian and here we don't have your " big pharma" or doctors that are infuenced by kickbacks or whatever. My treatment use to be free at a public clinic but now it costs me $35 a week and is partially government subsidised. Not all people are taking it because they got screwed over .it changed my life and by extension the children I have had since. I have over the course of 11 years had four children and have been reducing. I have not used since the first day I found out I was having my first child. Without it I would be dead like my partner of the time and my first child would be too and I certainly would be homeless . People need to see the success not just the bad. We change people's lives through treatment, we need not to stigmatise them but encourage them because through changing their lives many lives are changed, those who love them , their children families and friends. Treatment is not evil and well worth the effort. I am trying to reduce now and am hopeful it goes well. Slowly surely I shall do it but eventually I will get there and will not be rushed by anyone else's misconceived notions or ideas on methadone. You don't like it ? Don't give advice for it.

verwon, Suboxone is great to treat people with opiate addiction who do not rapidly metabolize meds. It simply doesn't work for everyone just like most other drugs (not just opiates). We are all fully aware there's no magic cure for addiction and you have to find what works best for you. The Girl demonizing methadone clinics seems like she has falsified UA's. Just my opinion but come on. I was a self pay patient for 8 yrs at a clinic and when I used in the 1st 6 mo of being a patient there it came up. She's hiding the fact she's on them so probably falsifying Her UA's so she can continue hiding it from the clinic docs because she knows it's danger and they probably would not approve her being on them. They do that with meds. The doc has to specifically approve any prescription and specify a time period its approved for. Methadone maintained patients should NEVER disclose the fact they're on maintainance at an NA OR AA meeting. They will demonize and turn you against it. AND harass you to detox, and berate you for it telling you you're not REALLY clean. If you're not using illicitly you're clean. BOTTOM LINE.

Hi everyone! I have sat here and read everyone's posts! So, I figured I'd write to let you know how I feel about methadone! I had back surgery in 2007 to put a titanium rod around my spine to "fix" my scoliosis! Unfortunately, it made my back 10 times worst. I had the surgery only 3 months before I graduated from high school thinking that I was going to heal and be like a brand new person in time for my "Senior Week" at the beach, but I was completely wrong. My doctor started me out on loricet 10s.. Then I had to gradually go up as my body's tolerance went up as well! It got to the point where the pills my doctor was prescribing me just wasn't enough! Finally I got introduced to the 100 mcg fentanyl patches. I was cutting them into pieces and chewing on them. That drug got me hooked so hard and so fast.. I didn't realize what I was doing until it was too late. I tried numerous times to come off of them cold turkey but the withdrawals were way too bad. I admitted that I needed the help to get off of them and that's when I entered into the methadone clinic. If I would have continued down the road I was on.. I would either be dead or in jail.. no doubt! As far as some of you saying that methadone is the devil and everything else.. obviously you didn't have a life threatening addiction. Because yea, it isn't cheap at all to go to the clinic.. but just think about how much money you were spending to get your fix for the day?? How many times were you doing illegal things in order to get your fix for that day?? So, add up all that money you were spending.. And ask yourself if you'd rather pay daily to get your medicine legally.. or take the risk and eventually have to spend several hundreds of dollars when you get locked up for either purchasing or having possession of a controlled substance?

The methadone clinic isn't out to get you..! I can say that if it weren't for the clinic.. I wouldn't be the mother that I am to my 14 month old! I take my dose first thing in the mornings.. and I'm good until the next morning. I'm only up to 45 mgs.. I don't plan on raising my dose.. nor do I plan on being on it for the rest of my life.. I'm just using this as a backbone until I honestly believe that I can be on my own and not worry about relapsing. My daughter deserves a 120% mom.. Not a 50% one day.. and a 25% another according on whether or not I was able to get my hands on a pain pill or not! If it takes me being on methadone for awhile.. Then so be it! I deserve to be happy, but most of all.. my daughter deserves to be happy and have a happy mom! My daughter opened my eyes.. but the Methadone was actually that stepping stone leading towards the right direction! So, to the ones who have nothing but negative things to say about methadone.. I wish you nothing but the best in life. And just because you think that it's the devil.. doesn't give you the right to tell someone that they are making the biggest mistake of there life by going to the clinic. Just because it's expensive.. doesn't mean that they only get you hooked on the methadone so that you'll keep coming back forever.. Just for the record, the day I went in for my intake.. they went on ahead and set me up with a plan! A plan that will help me out for a while.. and then a plan to taper me off. They assign each individual a counselor in case you ever need someone to talk to. My opinion, the clinic is actually one of the best things that could have possibly been made available to people whom are sick with that awful disease called ADDICTION! I know that I've just sat here and went on and on.. but I felt that I needed to get my story and opinion out there! Thanks for taking the time out to read!!

hey how is everyone. I know there is a lot of negativity about methadone. so I want to share with you all a success story. I was on methadone for nine years, I was on 95 mg. I started detoxing off of methadone maybe in the sixth year I was on it. I am not saying that this is easy or you can just hop off of methadone in a week. its not that easy. but at first id take a 4 mg decrease then when I was down to 30 I started to do one milligram every other week and when I was down to 10 mg I came down one mg a month. and I am officially off of methadone and have been since dec 2014. I had very minimal discomfort. and I am a baby when it comes to being dopesick. somedays were better than others but it wasn't nothing I couldn't handle. if anyone wants to talk you can email me at {edited for privacy}. I hope this could maybe help someone.

I felt them same way 9 years ago after I was on methadone for a year. But 10 years later it has ruined my life it is a wicked cycle of up down, up down, trying to wean off. 3 months ago I quit after a 10 day wean off with a combination of different meds and my husband. 3 months later and I feel normal again. Actually have feelings again. I'm still free of everything and WILL never recommend methadone to anyone. It changes you from an opiate user to a methadone user. Your life revolves around that, it comes first just like the opiates. Doctors will never say to try the way I went off, but I was at the end of my methadone road, I guess I hit methadone bottom(weird as it sounds) and I was given the opportunity to be supported by loving family to help me get off this. So I took it and it was the best thing I have done in 10 years. So if coming off is what you want you have to be in it 110% it is hard, but I wish you luck. It will be better if you can get through the first 2 months. A good support system is key.

I have been on methadone for ten years.. I was 95 mg when I started, I am now on 8 mg! methadone saved my life! all this crap I hear that's bad about methadone. If you are serious about getting clean and really want to live a drug free life.. you can!! yes it has taken my almost 5 years to come of this, but I have had little to no discomfort at all. ( and I am a baby when it comes to withdraw) I started taking 2 mg cut every 2 weeks and for the last year I have come down 1 mg a month. give or take I may have the months wrong.

I have been on subutex since 2008 and I read all these stories about how great it is well guess what you are all wrong.I have been on Methadone and wish I could get on now but I am on social security and can not afford it.I am still on my husbands BC/BS and no doctor or takes it The good Doc that put me on took my insurance but the DEA took him out for some bulls*** I am looking to get on a Methadone program because DR 100 a month says I can't take benzo's I might die well I haven't died since 2008.The DR threatened me with it so I am separated from my husband and am going to get medicaid so I can get some help from a decent clinic with good doctors and methadone which on a good dose I can get off the benzo's and I have already come off methadone successfully. Yes it can be done!!!! And all the NA nazi's on here go share about it at a meeting people on here need support!!!!

I am currently in methadone treatment for the second time and I didn't want to come back but it was my only option due to financial and withdraw problems. I had a hard time coming off methadone the first time. I was taking 110 mg for 5 months. My opiate addiction was way worse that time. This time I am at 45mg. and feeling pretty good.

My decision to come back was because I was hurting from withdraw and hurting my family emotionally. I knew this wasn't a long term answer but I figured I could handle it for a year or so. I plan on getting on Suboxone around this time. I know it's not much better but it is a little better and if they find out it is worse, I can always come back to methadone.

I am 49 years old, so I don't have the concerns of a 22 year old, such as quality of life anymore. I do but mine was getting so bad, methadone actually makes it hundreds times better. I do understand the youngun's getting upset but there is a solution and it's Suboxone for now.

I'd recommend Suboxone until they come out with a better solution and I'm sure they'll figure something out. I mean, we don't have many other options if you think about it. We got ourselves in this mess and these are pretty much the only two paths we have to choose at the moment...

Hey bekki how much under weight was your baby when born,oh and how much methadone did they have to start your baby on when born, because of methadone withdrawals,oh and don't lie have some honesty here, because i have been seeing methadone babies born for 8 years, and their not born healthy. Methadone is one of the worst if not the worst to withdrawal off,and i couldn't imagine even with a methadone tapered so called baby detox, I'm sure it doesn't feel any better for these babies then it does for a grown adult that put their self in that situation, and i don't want to here that it was better then being on the street using i have a baby too,and it's called choices and morals and rehab, then after you have your baby then its your. body to do with what you want until then its not just your body, and believe me i know its not easy to stay clean for even 9 months but remember its not just your body for that 9 months and even i knew being a drug addict that any baby would not make that choice

Lets see what you have to say 8 years later lady, and when your trying to detox off methdone,oh lady you ain't got a clue,i know what that person is talking about them clinics will tell you anything and everything under the sun to discourage you and keep you there, and before you go running off at the mouth i too was just like you at one time worshipping the devils program, but YOU better do some research on methadone, and do a lot of research on the pros/cons and your gonna see which out weighs, from the lady who given over 40,000 dollars in 8 years to a clinic who every time i talked about starting detox early on in the devils program, and they always had a reason why i shouldn't,but i was the stupid one who kept letting them stop me,so if you want some good advice don't stay to long girly, because remember this the longer your on methadone, the harder it is to get off,and if you are think your street drugs where hard to get off, well you just keep going down that very, very long dark road,oh and one other thing you need to go look at the statistics on how many people successfuly finish the devils program, lols, don't be their fool,i was for over 8 years,i can't even begin to tell you what methadone has done to my body, and your not the exception, you should ask some of your senior dosers how their body feels after years of the devil's promgram NEWBY,oh and so you don't let someone tell you that their was probably reason that the clinic kept telling me it wasn't time for me to leave the program, there was no reason,i did everything i was supposed to do,right down to staying clean,I SHOULD HAVE LISTEN TO OWN BETTER JUDGEMENT, but i can proudly say know after fighting with the clinic, that they drugout over along period of time so they could keep my money coming in,I'm leaving for rehab next week, and in order to go into a rehab and detox off methadone you have to be at a very low dose,so my clinic drug it out as long as they could to punish me for taking my cash flow away, but yet they gave me the excuse of we can only drop you 5 mls a week, and then i would find out that sometimes they weren't even dropping my dose, now i have been taking benzos just to help, and created another problem for my body,oh but let me tell u that they will throw youassout in a minute for non payment without detox,so yeah i could have not gone back, but remember have to be at a certain dose before you can go to rehab, and i already feel like I'm dieing so why would i do that to myself, and i don't want to hear from anyone that they can't do that, every state and clinic is different with their rules and this is michigan!!!!!!'

H is a terrible addictive opiate but it is the treatments for it that are even worse and where they are inhuman treatment as addicts perpetuate until death usually with these regimes.

The problem with all western governments is that they are overridingly influenced by the ultra-financially powerful pharmaceutical giants. So much so that they control government policy on hard drug treatments and where of course they supply methadone et al that provides billions of dollars in revenues. But they don't care about the harm that this treatment does and only look at the bottom-line. That is why this maintenance treatment policy goes on infinitum as it creates vast profits for big Pharma. Indeed governments go out to suppress all information concerning a 'cure' for these terrible treatment drugs that enslave addicts for life through dependency. There is no humanity in this form of treatment only profits as addicts spend a lifetime on treatments that are more addictive than the drugs they purportedly try to eradicate. But wouldn't it be good for once that a western government did something out of the ordinary and stopped supporting big Pharma and introduced a 'cure' that is available at a cost of a mere 10% of present treatment regimes. Then addicts would come off hard drugs for good and thereafter lead a normal life in society and give something back. But will a single western government rebel against the powerful pharmaceutical cartel, I very much doubt it as they have our politicians and leaders in their back pocket. That is what is called democracy where big business rules supreme. For an introduction of what is going on and the 'cure' that is available readers should visit - worldinnovationfoundation.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/what-successive-governments-and.html

Unfortunately this is the situation in all western nations and where they protect the interests of big business to the total detriment of their people.

This person sounds like he's being pretty honest to me.You can not compare yourself to anyone else. This person sought treatment for his pill addiction and found an even more insidious addiction and has every right to be angry.Maybe your situation was more extreme .I have a child whose mother was on methadone and watching that helpless little girl suffer was the most heartbreaking experience of my entire life.I will never forget it.

Anyone that tries to get treatment and says, all I had was money and a story, makes me wonder, what was your point? Were you attempting to discredit all people that use this medication? Would you take this useful medication, away from everyone simply because You don't use it properly? Or maybe it is your opinion that it is the cause of the worlds problems?Hanoj86 should not use this medication, but you are saying that because you haven't the need or the responsible attitude to make good use of it should be banned? Mind your business, be responsible, be honest with yourself, and quit trying to Govern other people through stupid stunts like you described, If this drug is evil than stop using it, take responsiblity for your actions, It works wonders for me and millions of other folks, quit being everyones mother, live and let live. If you want to quit, step your dosage down slowly, don't go "Cold Turkey" That's the worst way to quit, and usually won't work, it will be easy to relapse. I am at 40mg daily and if I needed to stop I would cut my dosage in half, and wait one week while taking 20mg daily. After that it would be 10mg, and one week. At this point, i would cease all dosages. That's how to stop, and it is gradual, and will not be torture for you. Get real and take control of your medications, or they will tend to control you. By the way, you are obviously trying to control other people, start by controlling yourself, and mind your own business.

On my third day of methadone withdrawals and I am dying! I hate feeling like I'm trapped by this drug. I can't take this anymore so I'm gonna try to borrow the money to go to the clinic tomorrow morning. I say borrow because I cant hold a job down. Got degenerative disc disease and now no Dr. will even see me because I've been going there for so long! I have a good track record at the clinic as a matter of fact, I haven't had a dirty u.a. in years. For anything other than mdone that is. I had an appt. to see a doctor in three days but this morning when I called to see if they have received my records, I waz told he won't be takin me as a patient! I wonder what was so BAD that he changed his mind? Did my counselor sabotage me? This makes me wonder!!!

I was prescribed this medication and when used responsibly it is a very effective medication. If you feel any "High or Euphoric effects" than you are taking too much! This medication, just like any pain killer will allow you to feel normal, not high. I use the right dosage and it allows me to feel like my energy level comes back to normal, otherwise I feel drained, and must drag myself through the day by pure strength of will. If I take the pills as directed, they help me, without deleterious effects. Thank God, my doctor see's my responsible intent, and due diligence. Without that attitude, the medication will cause issues, relating to irresponsible patients, and their ignorance, regarding the proper use of this material. Any Drug can be abused, it takes a good doctor patient cooperative effort, to make the pain treatment work as intended. I am drop jawed, at some of the comments I have read, most people cannot be responsible, using any drug since they "Think it is supposed to make you feel Great, they are mistaken. And should be removed from any pain control program. They say ignorance is "Bliss", well not from my experience. Good med, Good Patient, Good Doctor= Good results. Have you ever heard of self titration, Patients that are willing to scale the meds to their pain level are Rare these days. I am one of these responsible Patients and I wondered why people had problems, can't trust these other moronic abusers to do anything, except ruin a good thing. We need to make sure these irresponsible patients do not ruin the reputation of any effective pain meds it is unfair to those who will mind their manners.
