I had three major back surgeries at MD Anderson in Houston, TX in 2010 to completely remove my sacrum due to Sacral Chordoma cancer. After returning home to Idaho, I was put on Methadone 5m twice a day marked MALI. It worked very well for me but then the last couple of months it seems my body was acclimating to it and so my Dr. prescribed 10mg twice a day. I just presumed it was the same manufacturer. Within three to four days I started feeling bad. Itchy skin, light headed, fatigue and nauseous...and the further I went the worse it got. After about two weeks I felt so bad that I could literally not go to work. I was in bed for 2-3 days. I thank God my wife found this thread/forum. It explains everything I have been feeling. I had some of the older MALI pills and went back to them starting last Thursday. It's been slow, but things are getting better. I am seeing my Dr. today and asking to simply double up on the older MALI brand. I will not take another ACS. It was very bad...and I still have a bad time with some anxiety, lightheadededness and fatigue in the mornings for maybe five hours after I wake up. I just hope that ultimately goes away with going back on the other brand. I am not a physician and cannot explain why...all I can say is that it happened and I was getting progressively worse until I found this information on this site and stopped taking them.

I totally agree!!! I just took some of the ACL and they totally suck!! Im used the 54 142 pills...I got these from a friend and just called him up accusing him that they we're fake! I have severe back pain and my husband has nuropathy if i spelled that right because of his diabeties. So we need them..Anyways I can definatly tell a difference we are sick!! :-(

116 suck ass..its not in anyone's head..ask any junkie who have real life experience. Scientists don't know s*** and only know what a book tells them but they think they know it all...i'd listen to a junkie b4 ever listening to U guys again...Going to school for yrs and receiving a diploma dont mean s*** in the real world.

Sorry. You are completely wrong!! The difference in some of these drugs is mind boggleing. If there were no difference nobody would think about complaining.

I worked in a Pharmacy and fyi if you call around looking for high power meds (Sched. 2's) we are trained to tell you we don't have them in stock due to possible robbery. Also if you don't use that pharmacy on a regular basis and you walk up with a script we are also told to say we don't have those or that quanity due to fake and stolen script pads. So if u need a Sched. 2 it is best to stick with 1 pharmacy and get to know your Pharmacists and Techs. Aand when you need your meds on a regular schedule of course they will be more and willingly to order and keep in stock the manufacturer you like. Just some insider advice!!!

Good news ......I was struggling with my back about 8 to 9 pain level, and my right knee that has been operated on 3x was like a 10 ......I was in so much pain .....I was not sleeping, I was irritable, my blood pressure was high, and I started getting migraine headaches that made me think I was dieing.........I found this site and a few others then started researching medicine, and federal standards ..I was so pissed that the federal government allows it to be declared the same medicine when each time they can be 10% different on active ingredient and 20% on inactive ....that is not the same medicine......and the saying it's a placebo effect, and it's all in your head......well stupid of course it's in my head that is how the medicine works the pain is still there always the brain just turns it off allowing me to have a life........so getting to m my point walgreens switched manufacturers after years...so I went and had a talk with cvs pharmacist who I was very impressed with - I told him everything he agreed to order malinkrodt medicine I have been back on that medicine for 4 days now and guess what back pain level is 3. Knee about a 4 to 5 that is manageable my friends. ...headaches gone, sleeping again check, and all around doing better getting 5 to 6 hours of relief from one pill......life is good again, keep up the good fight, you all are worth it....don't let the so called experts tell you, trust your body ...it is your GOD given right to feel better and to have QUALITY of life!!

I definately agree with everyone who has had problems with ASC 116. I was taking a different brand and due to cost by the Pharmacy it was given to me one month. It scared me so bad. I didn't think I was gonna make it the first 3 days I took it. OMG it tore me up. No pain control and withdrawal. The pain was so bad. Say what you want to but there is a HUGE difference between ASC and other Methadone. I feel so bad deep down in my heart for anyone who is stuck on that medication and can't get help getting anything else. I sure wish something could be done about it. I've read page after page of complaints and nothing is ever done.WHY????

I've been on methadone for 10 years consecutively; been thru several different pills. Really no big difference if any at all. Most of this is probably due to other factors. Ever have a day where u know u took ur full dose of medicine but feel terrible? Or took less than usual but feel surprisingly well? This is because there are an endless amount of physiological factors that can effect how you feel. Good luck to all. Stay positive!

Alright Pharmacy tech student, you need to google the Hatch-Waxman act 1984. The FDA passed this law which allows generic medications to contain up to 20% less of the active ingredient than name brand medications. So no, this isn't in anyone's head! You might want to check your facts before running your mouth next time, and a little bit of compassion goes a long way, you never know what might end up happening in the future.

I just picked up these strange new methadone.. asc 116... i always get the 54/142 or the rectangle ones, now i havent tried these yet but i remember switching from one to another as far as manufacturers, and they made me nauseous because it was almost stronger since i wasnt used to it.. if you are going through withdrawls the first symptoms are the skin crawing anxious feelings. Not throwing up. But take too many and u will feel nauseous. Switching from one manufacturer from another does make a difference even if the pharmacy says it doesnt. I have switched before just to get the same effect after getting too tolorent to them.. but i am going to try them and ill see if i get the same results.. just got 360 of them so i hope they are okay or i gotta wait a month for another script.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Saying 10mg is 10mg is telling everyone you have never had any type of addiction to pills. instead of reading books try talking to people that have addictions.

54/142 brand Roxanne - so far THE BEST

Malinkrot Coffins - don't dissolve well, but very few fillers to make you sick. Not too bad.

ASC 116 By far the absolute worst pill I have ever taken. I've tried them for two months now - they're s***. I ran out last month because I wasn't getting ANY pain relief and to take the occasional extra pill. Bad. If you have a new Rx for methadone, please make sure that they are Roxanne 54/142.

You are absolutely correct. My drugstore filled my prescription with these also. I have nausea and diarrhea since taking these pills. (That's why I was making sure it is Methadone I am taking.) I have taken many different brands and never in 20 years had this problem.I will be changing pharmacy's if this is all they have. Medicine is suppose to make you feel better not worse. Thanks for all the comments, I know now it's not just me.

I am a board certified registered nurse going back for my NP and I have been on methadone for 10 years. The ascend 116's are horrible I have never had any issue with generic medications in the past. There is something wrong with these pills after a few days on these pills my pupils became dilated I felt weak and sick. I called the pharmacy right away. They put on my file Malinkrodt only. I think that if we all go on the FDA website and report the Ascend 116's they have to do something. Please don't lump all healthcare professionals together, most know that some gerics don't work well for certain people.

ASC 116 methadone 10 milligram hydrochloride is by far the worst form of methadone I have ever received or taken in my life I would rather have any other brand on the other than this brand it gives me horrible headaches that pound for a long long long time and it does nothing for my pain it is so horrible that I believe it should be exempt

I went to so many different pharmacies seeking an answer. If I could even get someone to answer me without being treated like I was a drug seeking junkie was a miracle. Why do I have to feel embarrassed by these pharmaceutical techs. They work for us. If there wasn't a need there would not be work for them. Back to subject now, I still have had no luck getting my pharmacist to get me the medication that works best for me. Cost was their response. Well hell if it's a few dollars then I'll be glad to cover the cost. It would be worth it to me to not have to feel like I am also just below where I have been maintained for so many years.The effect is weaker and doesn't last as long controlling my pain. So therefore in order to not take more and run out I have to wake up in the middle of the night hurting. I have polio and several other complications from bone and musculoskeletal disorders so I'm thankful for the relief that's do get. Before methadone I just lived a very painful life so this medicine was like a new lease on life and I've never had to stray off and take more or add anything' else to control my pain until now. So after 15 years of controlled pain management with the same meds I know it's the new lab making mine. ASCEND!

Does anyone know if on our scripts if the doctor writes Mallinkrodt only or Roxane only does the pharmacy have to order that med? When I worked in nursing home if an order was written DAW - dispense as written it had to be honored. As well as a brand name only-it had to be honored. I will pay extra if I can to a certain extent. ASC has to be gotten rid of. But we all know how it goes. We're all held hostage by pharmacies and money hogs. God help us all.

This is true they don't work as well...I take methadone in the liquid form.. I took some of these pills and they did not work I did feel like I was going through withdrawals on what should have been the same dose
