This pill was in my bottle of metformin from the pharmacists.i only noticed because it was just a bit smaller than the metformin. What is it? ## I actually came across a half white and half pink oblong shaped pill imprinted "E648" that is identified as Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25 mg. You didn't mention pink being part of the color, but it's the only match that comes up under that description. Manufacturer: Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Inc. National Drug Code (NDC): 00185-0648 I'd probably suggest taking it over to your local pharmacy to have them check it out if this doesn't sound like it fits the bill. Does anyone else recognize this tablet without the pink color?

I have two medications one is the GLYB/Metform 5-500 mg and the other is Metformin hcl 500 mg. I only use the Metformin hcl 500 mg only. Can I use the Glyb/metform when I am done with the metformin hcl ## What is the difference (if any) in Metformin HCL TABS 500MG 93/48 and Metformin HCL TABS 500 MG APO500/MET ## can I substitute glyb metformin with metformin for a few days? ## No, you shouldn't change your medication to the one with Glyburide and Metformin, unless you have your doctor's approval to do so. The addition of the Glyburide may not be safe for you, or it may cause your blood sugar to go too low. Learn more Glyburide details here and you can learn more Metformin details here. And in regards to the question from Jerry, there is no difference, they have just been manufa...

I HAVE 2 BOTTLES OF METFORMIN HCL TAB 500MG. ONE BOTTLE HAS WHITE ROUND TABLET A/12 ON IT AND THE OTHER HAS WHITE OVAL TABLET a logo and 4331/500 ON IT. ARE THESE THE SAME MEDICATIONS? COULD THEY BE GENERIC AND THE OTHER BRAND NAME MEDICATION? ## I have two bottles of Metformin HLC Tabs. One is a refill for the other. The tabs are different shapes made by different companies. Same strength is the same. Is this a mistake. ## This type of thing does confuse many people, which is why I think more medications should be standardized as to how they look. However, right now they aren't, so you can receive the same medication, manufactured by different companies and they may look completely differently. As of this time, the way a medication looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the m...

My six year old child took a 500 mg Metformin by mistake. What should I do? ## Call poison control or your local hospital......by now the effects are over as I am sure you didn't wait 5 days for an answer. You need to call doc, possibly give oj and watch for signs of low blood sugar; drowsiness, shaking, thirst can accompany due to fast physiological changes. I only left this answer in case someone read this. AND, I hope your 6 year old is ok.

Hello! I am a diabetic. I was originally diagnosed as T1, but we have now discovered I am a T2 (long story). My endo wanted me to check blood sugar 8X day just to make sure my conversion from Insulin to Metformin was working out OK. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I went into my pharmacy to get test strips refilled. The pharmacy tech asked if I was still testing 8x day. I said no, I averaged 3 to 4x per day since my blood sugar seemed for the most part to stay within range. She said based on that info they needed to change my prescription for test strips. I assumed I would go down to 4x day, which would be fine. I went back in last Friday-nothing had been done. I went back in yesterday. The same pharmacy tech said THE DOCTOR had changed the prescription to 1x day. I knew somethin...

metformin ## There are a couple options to find what you are looking for. First there is a med called Januvia - this contains the active chemical Sitagliptin Phosphate and treats Type 2 Diabetes. As far as Metformin goes there are a number of other brand names, one of which is Janumet (containing the combination of Metformin Hydrochloride + Sitagliptin Phosphate) Hope this helps! ## best time to take drug ## In regards to the best time to take either one of these medications, it should be done just before a meal, such as right when you sit down to eat. Generally, they take about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, so if you take them that way, they have time to enter your blood stream and start helping control your blood sugar about the time you start digesting your meal. However, if you...

Are the Metformin 500 mg tab Sandoz used to control high blood sugar? ## Hello, Based on my research, Metformin belongs to the class of medications called "oral hypoglycemics", which are medications that lower blood sugar. It is used to control blood glucose (blood sugar) for people with type 2 diabetes. It is used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction have not been found to lower blood glucose well enough on their own. Metformin works by reducing the amount of glucose made by the liver and by making it easier for glucose to enter into the tissues of the body. Metformin has been found to be especially useful in delaying problems associated with diabetes for overweight people with diabetes. NOTE: studies have proved that a low fat raw vegan diet can reverse and cure diabetes ...

Can I dissolve regular metformin ? I can't swallow large pills ## Hi Linda, Based on my research, it seems like other people have already tried putting the tablet into water to see if it dissolved and they mentioned that it didn't. However I've read that Metformin can also come in powder or liquid solutions depending on the brand, so if it comes down to it I would just ask your doctor for one of those scripts instead of the tablet. I hope this helps! ## The regular metformin did dissolve after awhile. Very hard pill. Thanks for the help.

doctor never heard of this drug. ## Do you mean Metformin ? For type 2 diabetes ? ## hi, because metphormin is a prescibed medication, i would think that you have to take as directed. but It was prescribed based on your historical blood sugar readings which fluctuate on an hourly basis kind of in relation to the glycimic index of the food you just ate and the amount of physical activity you are doing..eg....eating a donut sitting watching tv with 2 metphormin pills or eating a doughnut and running up 90 feet of stairs, and having taken 2 metphormin pills after an hour recheck you blood sugar levels or eating broccoli and taking 2 metphornin pills and running upstairs. the fact is that the dosage of metmophin lowers your resting (so to speak) sugar level but the other two have to be juggl...
