Maximum Dose Of Suboxone/subutex & Chronic Pain (Page 22) (Top voted first)
UpdatedNEWLIFE: When I was first on Subutex, it was the little white tablets. I would build up all this saliva, and would end up spitting some of it out. My doc said I was likely spitting out some of the medicine and to NOT do that. :D Do you find that salivating is a problem with the film as well as the pills? I have never used the Bupe films.
Is 6 mgs of subutex in a day alot? I've been on it since 2007 and am on the highest on 6 mgs but I can do with 2 mgs, is that alot?
KKH I am in highest dose of Subutex 8 mg 3 times daily. That along with 4 mg zanaflex i just started 300 mg Gabapentin which makes me feel odd o told my pharmacist I have know for years great person one if the techs I known for years great person as well, she asked does it make you feel drunk I thought for a moment said that's a good word for it . I only take it when really really needed. Then Arthrotec 75 mg I stopped taking doesn't seem to really work. 2 mg Xanax for panic attacks. It helps with some pain in my arthritis in both shoulders a hole my right rotator cuff. L 4-5 fusion which did more worse than good, now I have something going in in my neck due to a being rear ended. just had MRI done. Degenerated spine, fibromyalgia, arthritis in knees as well. I started exercising it hurts doing yoga stretching my muscles a good pair of sneakers for walking. Haha have to laugh is good. for the soul. I also have weaknesses in my arms and hands my right shoulder blade wings out as well instead of laying flat. I use a a rub light weight rubber they use in physical therapy to exercise my arms different exercises. I have hyperthyroidism, Graves Disease. At one time weighed 99 lbs due to this I just this year made it to 117 lbs underweight still for my height 5'7" I did the RAI radioactive iodine. I now am taking synthroid for this. Sorry for late reply . I would like to say those of us in pain and or addiction keep your chin up god doesn't put you through what you can't handle. Be blessed all!!!
TASHUDA: Sounds like you have a lot on your plate! But at least the Subutex is working for you. May I ask what you are taking the Gabapentin for? I have heard others say that Gabapentin makes them feel strange as well.
WILL: To whom are you speaking? And I assume you meant to say partial opioid agonist, not agonize. :) It is a mixed partial agonist, meaning it is a partial agonist/ partial antagonist.
I have been taking minimally 320mg of oxycontin along with 120mg of oxycodone a day, and now am on 8mg of suboxone a day. The medicine is not working for me and i also have chronic pain as well. Fibromyalgia, slipped discs, degenerate disc desease, and sciatica. I was wondering if i shuld have my medication switched all together because my tolerance may be too high for wat im taking.
With taking that much a day.. i don't see suboxone or subutex helping u a bit !! If ur in that much pain. I have no clue. Because my subutex don't help me with pain
I take the generic 8-2mg twice daily. That doesn't help with my chronic pain but that's all my Dr. gives me. My advice is don't take more than you can handle. If you reach a certain level of suboxone that makes you sick don't take anymore. You know what you can and can't handle. But seriously, you need to tell your Dr. what's going on. This med is basically to get you off pain meds. However my friend got addicted to them and was taking more and more than started taking meth with them and almost died. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR . If he doesn't listen get a different Dr.
I was on them for 15 years 6 x 2mg is too much, you will have a bad rattle. 2 mg is enough.
For pain 2mgs when needed should help most ailments. I get 12 mg max a day. I will say though, watch because they rot your teeth.
Suboxone is to bring you off of opiates, not only opiat that are injected but anyway you use them.I hope you don't think it's used for pain because it takes away 0%of my pain.
Have you ever taken it for chronic pain? Doesn't sound like you have. I have fibromyalgia and have suffered from extreme pain for over 20 years which got me addicted to opiates. I needed something to treat the pain that I wouldn't abuse. I had to quit working before I had suboxone bc of the pain. But once I was prescribed suboxone I felt like an entirely new person. And my Dr didn't say anything different to me than he did when he gave me bottles of NSAIDS, Vicodin, OxyContin, etc. And I knew which of those worked and which ones didn't. So there's NO DIFFERENCE in the prescription he gave me of suboxone.
I AM frustrated, though, bc I have a new dr (old Dr retired) and he keeps lowering my dose. I was at 8mg 3x/day. I had been there around 10 years and life had been great. He brought me down to 8mg 2x/day. I tried it but am definitely hurting more to the point of seeking out alternative treatments like nerve cauterizing and things like that. NOW my dr just lowered me again by a half a pill a day. I don't understand what he's doing but I'm going to have to search for a new dr.
It actually can be used for pain.i was on morphine plus many other meds, for many years, but due to ongoing side effects, i had to get off of them.i was switched over to suboxone....worked @ first and now im in consant pain.i wish there was a substitute for meds. Finding they work for awhile and then i get immuned and then they dont.i dont think alot of drs. Dont know what to do, due to lack of research.hope you get feeling better or find a trtment that works.pass it on if you find something that does work
I'm so sorry you're going through that! It sounds horrible. We have a family friend who is a doctor and my aunt keeps in touch with him. He works for a pain management clinic. He was saying how his heart breaks every day because he WANTS to help these people who come in his office, but he can only help so many and only to a point because of the DEA. TWO patients from that office recently committed suicide in the past year because of insufficiently treated chronic pain. I'm a Suboxone patient myself for addiction. For myself, personally, my first doctor's visit was $400+ cost of meds. Then the next week, it was $300+ cost of meds. Then, I would go every two weeks for a month at $230+ cost of meds a visit. After that, it's $230 a month, PLUS you have to pay for the actual prescription at the pharmacy, which for me is $600 cash a month. So, every month, IN CASH, I have to pay $830 a month ($230 for Dr., and $600 for meds.) However, for the first 2 months, it is MUCH more expensive. It almost put me on the street and I cannot change my insurance to one that covers the meds AND the doctor until November. So, I can totally understand why some people have chosen to get them through other means. It's crazy that TN only allows Subs for addiction though. I don't know anyone that is prescribed it for pain, but I've heard of it.
Here in Oklahoma. It only costs us 100 a month for the dr and I only go in every other month. Our insurance helps pay for the suboxone. We could not pay that much a month.
Even with our insurance all my meds cost 350 a month. My dr is both pain management and addiction specialist. He also prescribes my meds for bipolar. Neurontin for both mood swings and pain. Also flexeril, cymbalta and wellbutrin.
How long after taking burtrans patch off can l take a morphine tablet doc. DIDN'T TELL ME ?
Actually, just call a pharmacy and ask just to be safe. I've been in precipitated withdrawal before and I wouldn't want to be the cause of that for you. It is terrible. I've never heard of anyone getting sick from the patch, but that doesn't mean it cannot happen. You can call the pharmacy you picked it up from or even a 24 hour pharmacy like CVS just to ask that question. Tell them the milligram and everything as well.
Yo dude you don't know what the hell your talking about I was on nega pain killers and know I use subibe and im here to tell u it does help with pain Suboxone actually has a certain percentage of a narcoruc in it do a lil research before u start flappin
I take MS contin for chronic pain and fusion surgeries in the last 4 years. I have been taking ms contin for over 10 years. What is suboxone and why is this drug used at all for us real pain sufferers if it blocks opioid treatment? I see this all the time. MS contin or morphine sulfate works great for me. I don't abuse it and my drs never change my script. I take 30mg 4 times daily. It works through the night while I sleep, never any withdrawals, no side effects. I also take alprazolam, 1mg 3 times daily and some other non controlled substances. I guess I am curious about all this hype about suboxone. Can someone fill me in about the new meds out there? Thanks, J
Is 40 mg of suboxone a waste, as it hits the ceiling effect? Or will the pain relief increase with a higher dosage?
