These days it's common for FM doctors to deny patients opiates on the grounds that studies have proven opiates to be ineffective against pain relief for FM. I've been unable to find any study supporting this that was not partly funded by Pfizer. This is problematic because Pfizer was convicted earlier this year of violating federal racketeering laws for it's marketing practices, which included making false claims about the effectiveness and lack of negative side effects of certain of its drugs. Perhaps you could help in this research. The next time a doctor tells you opiates have been proven ineffective against FM pain relief, ask: Do you know of any study supporting your position that was not funded by racketeers? Has anyone found Lyrica to be an effective replacement for o...

I have been on a course of 800mg of pregablin for nearly five years. In the past 9 months I have been having terrible pains in my teeth and gums. I had a serious hand accident with catastrophic injuries so was prescribed the above I had two large operations to save my hand . The dentist has sent me to see a specialist and I have been informed that I am losing quite a few teeth . My teeth where my pride and joy now fifty five and starting to lose them has really upset me . How can these people sell drugs that are doing us so much harm? I have been working really hard over the past three months and have been reducing my intake of pregablin which has been very very difficult. Last Monday was the first week without any pregablin and so far managing the pain is horrific but this may be the o...

The leader says it cannot be the medication but I am eating healthy but not losing. I am getting so down about it has this happened to anyone else . Many thanks . ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with nerve pain and mood disorders and yes, as such, it has been known to cause weight gain as a side effect in some people that have used it. Learn more Lyrica details here. However, just eating healthy may not necessarily cause you to lose weight, you also need to get plenty of proper exercise. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been suffering from pain in my legs for yrs, and now it's pretty much all over. It ranges from a dull ache in my bones, sore achy muscles, feeling of something poking or biting me in various places just out of the blue. My doc had me in pain management, but the pm doc gave up and sent me to a rhumy doc.On pain management I was on Norco which did wonders, but they don't want me on them so tried all sorts of stuff that gave no relief...the rhumy doc says no Lupus or arthritis so gave me Savella..by day 3 I was so very sick (like a bad flu). so she stopped that and gave me Lyrica...no side effects until the middle of my 2nd day and I started coughing a lot..and it has moved down into my chest with plenty of mucus..I am thinking it's the Lyrica causing the cough after rea...

I take roxycotin 30mg about three to four times a day as well as prosac 20 mg. When i went to my doctor and told her that i was still alittle depressed and still in some pain due to degenerative disc disease, two slipped discs and bipolar/ anxiety for more then fifteen years, she suggested to me that she felt I had FIBERMYALGIA. She suggested that i start taking LYRICA. She also told me that it may cut down the use of the Roxycotins. I have heard some good things as well as bad things from taking this medication and i'm kind of nervous... It is not a cheap medication and at the present time I have no insurance. I WORK FOR AN ACCOUNTING FIRM and it is TAX SEASON so I need to be VERY FOCUSED!!! I am dealing with other peoples money and they need to be able to depend on me so therefore...

I had radiation and chemo for a tumour situated in the anal canal. The treatments caused chronic nerve pain in that area. My doctor prescribed Lyrica. It started with pain under my feet and my hands. Now my whole body, joints and muscles are affected. I get up in the morning and my whole body is stiff with pain. I also experience blurry vision, memory loss and cannot carry a simple conversation. I have gained 30plds. My Doctor now has diagnosed me fibromalgia and osteo arthritis due to the trauma of my cancer treatments. He continually shrugs it off that its not due to the Lyrica. I know that is what has caused all of these ailments. It has altered my whole life. I will be my own advocate from here on. Please let me know what you think! ## It is not normal for the Lyrica to cause such i...

My Dr diagnosed me with Fibro almost 2 years ago. I took a drug last year playing the insurance game. It was an anti-depressent and I swear to you it made my crazy! I am sensitive to drugs that alter my mind and that was the worst. But the insurance insisted I needed to take it before they would give me a Fibro med. It was so bad I refused to take anything till this year. I live in Western PA and to say our weather is bi-polar, well thats an understatment. So I have been in a rather painful flair for about 4 months now. I decided to start lyica. Here is where it is fun. My Dr knows nothing about the drug. The pharmisist knows nothing about the drug and appearently no one thought that starting me out at 300mg a day was a bad thing. After 2 pills I was a MESS. I couldn't drive because...

I am currently taking 600mg Lyrica and 60 mg Cymbalta. 10 mg Tramadol as needed. How long does someone have to stay on Lyrica for FM, DDD, Stenosis, Pain Management (from MVA 30 year old Cervical & Back Injuries). ## There is really no set time that anyone has to stay on it, per se, it's really dependent on how well it works for you and what you and your doctor decide is right and safest for you. Has it been helping your pain? Are you experiencing any problematic side effects? ## Its seems to be working. They got me up to 600mg per day. Weight gain is scaring me as I have always been thin. I do get the electric buzz'es up my neck if you know what I mean. (Like Gabapentin). Will I have to take this for life?

Can trepiline be taken after I have stopped taking lyrica? ## How long have you been off of the Lyrica? What has your doctor advised? You should be able to take the Amitriptyline without any issues, unless your doctor has instructed you not to do so. The two can even be used at the same time, as long as your doctor us aware of it and carefully calculates the dosages. You should also be aware that you need to watch for the symptoms of CNS depression.

Can trepiline be taken after I have stopped taking lyrica? ## I have taken Lyrica 50mg at night for a week. My doctor feels it is not necessary as it is not working. Do I have to taper off to stop, or can I just stop? Also would I be able to take 10mg trepiline once I have stopped the Lyrica or will I have to wait two weeks before commencing it? ## What has your doctor advised? I'm not seeing any serious issues between switching from Lyrica to Amitriptyline, but you should follow whatever instructions your doctor has provided you to get the best and safest outcome.

I take Lyrica for neuropathy. It helps me. When I eat, 15 to 20 min. after it kills the effect of the medicine. So I find out I have to take more than what is prescribed to get to feeling better. Does anyone out there have the same problem? ## Somethings we eat do affect medications, howver that is not a normal problem for LYrica and should not happen everytime you eat. Remember this is not a pain killing medication, so it does work like narcotics or similar meds, this med has a cumulative effect and can take several weeks to reach a therapeutic effect in your body. I would suggest you need to speak to your doctor to get to the root of this problem and make sure you are not taking too much of the medication. ## I have been on neurotin for about 8 years now. And also up to 200 mg of Lyri...

I am not finding anything known that ties it to Thyroid problems. Have the definitively tied it to the medication? Are you doing any better? I am very sorry about what you've been through.

I have taken lyrica that has been prescribed from couple different doctors. This stuff kept me confused and my right hand shacks and I stumble when walking . Finally I just quit taking it . It was causing more problems then good my blood pressure stayed high. I advise no one to take this..... ## I definitely agree with your statements. This drug has some horrible side effects, that in my opinion are worse than what most people are trying to treat.
