No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.I have been on Lyrica for 2 weeks now. Started at 75mg 2x a day, then went to 2-75mg 2x a day. My fibro pain is the absolute worst it has been in years. I have pain from head to toe. I need to sleep 12 hours a night to have my brain feel halfway normal. My fingers look like sausages and I am totally bloated from the Lyrica. Since this is a weekend day when I'm writing this, I cannot contact my doctor. Has anyone simply stopped taking Lyrica cold turkey? I am in agony with the pain. Thank you! ## I have been on Lyrica since 2005 for fibromyalgia and one of the main things I learned was that you should have been started on a lower dose, 50mg/day for a week and then slowly increased in up by 25mg/day/week until you found your "sweet spot". Otherwise, starting to high can create...
My doctor of over twenty years fear of new laws took my narcotics away. Lyrica causes weight gain & my face & legs to swell. Advil made my mouth swell shut so narcotics were a few of only things I could take. I wish the pill mill doctor would be sentence to two years of what i live with. constant pain even with med, living a tortured life watching others live. I have been doing this over 15yr I really don,t leave the house much, it is just too hard ## Hello, Jean! How are you doing? I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. Your doctor didn't refer you somewhere else? You can still get those types of medications, they just have to be prescribed by a specialist, which for you would be someone trained in pain management. ## Hey! You need a new doctor - either a pain man...
Hi I was wondering if anyone could please help me. I am in so much pain and need to be prescribed lyrica. But because I am on methadone no one will help me. Does anyone know if you can order them online....I am DESPERATE...please help! ## Hello, Kendra! How are you? I'm sorry that you are in so much pain, no one should have to suffer. However, this is a medication that requires a prescription in the U.S., so ordering it in such a manner would be considered illegal. Additionally, I'm not sure that you're aware, but Lyrica is not an actual analgesic and will not work like one to alleviate pain. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant which can help with some types of nerve pain, however, it needs to be taken regularly for 4 to 6 weeks, befo...
Is weaning required to end therapy? ## Hello, Marti! How are you? Yes, weaning is the best method to stop Lyrica. Since it is actually an anticonvulsant, a sudden cessation of it might cause seizures. Learn more Lyrica details here. Have you consulted your doctor about stopping the medication? ## On 150 lyrica 2x day for 5 months last 3 weeks once a day. What do I go down to now in order to stop lyrica?
I had been prescribed Lyrica for post herpetic neuropathy following a bout of shingles. Shortly there after I started having imaginary smells and then lost my sense of smell completely. I was informed that I have a condition called anosmia. My doctor recently informed me that there have only been 17 other cases reported relating a connection between Lyrica and loss of smell. Has anyone else had a similar experience? ## It hasn't been mentioned on our site previously, but it is a very, very rare effect that can happen with some medications, including Lyrica. You can learn more about the condition here: It is, sometimes, reversible if the medication causing it is stopped. Has your doctor suggested your trying something else? ## I took Lyrica for about 6 months......significantly relie...
Is there a lyrica cream for topical application? Does it work for peripheral neuropathy? How (where) is it available? ## Hello, Ruth! How are you doing? There is no actual manufactured cream that contains Lyrica/Pregabalin. Such creams are usually specially ordered by a doctor and then made by a compounding pharmacy, so they require a prescription. Learn more Lyrica details here. And, as with anything, some people get great results from them and some do not. You can only try one and see how it works for you. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Thank you. irene ## Hello, Irene! How are you? It really shouldn't be causing this if you've been taking it for a year, but there's no way to be sure how any medication may affect any given person that takes it. Learn more Lyrica details here. Have you talked t...
I've been on Lyrica for 5 years, now at 100 mg/3 times a day. Overall, I would say this drug has been very helpful. It does work and the side effects have been minimal. However - I have begun to have headaches due to tight muscles in my upper body. In all the forums I have researched I haven't come across tight muscles as one of them - headaches, yes, tight muscles, no. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Maryb1953! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Actually, it has been known to cause myoclonus in about 4% of the people take it. It's an involuntary muscle jerk/spasm, so that could be what's causing your problem. Learn more Lyrica details here. Have you discussed it with your doctor? Our bodies do change with time, so it's pos...

It's a very potent narcotic that's available in several dosage forms, including a time released patch, but it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Its effects are similar to those of other narcotics in that it can be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I've had RSD/CRPS for 7 years. I was injured on the job and developed it soon after and it went whole body. I've been relocated from PA to CO. Billing is workman's comp in PA. I take minimal meds. 500mgs Lyrica per 24 hours. Or I can't get up to do anything. 50mgs amitriptyline at night for pain. It helps my legs be warmer, ie less pain and more sleep. For breakthrough pain, I take from 5-7.50mgs of oxycodone tablets. Capsules don't work for me at all. I will be out of meds soon and I haven't been able to get any sort of physician to see me. I have a letter coming to me, verifying my need for continued care and to certify the validity of the billing and court orders for workman's comp to pay. I also have Medicare and I don't feel comfortable using that fo...

Hi, I am taking 2 x 75mg Lyrica each morning for overactive bladder pain. It has worked well and also changed my mood in a positive way. However, I would rather not be taking any medication and was advised I could just stop taking it. I did that for 3 days and felt tranqualised! Very tired and eyes not focusing well. I took 1 x 75mg tonight and slowly feeling back to normal. Have I done any permanent damage? I have decided to take 1 x 75mg per day for a couple of weeks and then 1 every second day and then hopefully none. Do you think I will get any side effects doing it this way? ## HI, Milly! How are you? It's doubtful that you did any permanent damage to yourself, but you should check with your doctor to be certain. You should also do that in regards to tapering off of it. However...

And dose it have any side effects because i feel some anexity in my stomok. ## Hello, Naseem! How are you doing? All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. It's just the nature of adding a chemical to the body to try to solve a health problem. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that's also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight chan...
I've visited many forms on different medications & it is obvious that one medication can be a god send for some & a horror show for others. Obvious conclusion: If one has unwanted symptoms & wishes to be rid of them or lessen them then you must "experiment" until (if ever) you find the correct medication (for YOU) & the proper dosage. This "search" means you may occasionally encounter unpleasant side effects. This is a consequence of the "search" for your own personal "holy grail". If you are not willing to go through this just remain with your unpleasant bodily symptoms. The reasonable, common sense person is aware that doctors & medicines are at best a slight but well meaning aid to many ailments. As time goes on they will become...

UpdatedI have been in Stage 3 colon cancer remission for 5 years. Side effects from chemo have done a lot of nerve damage. My Doc put me on Lyrica the day before yesterday, 3/19/12 and after 2 tablets I have extreme vomiting, called my doc and he told me not to take anymore; yet even today I have extreme vomiting and can not keep anything down, my stomach is killing me. Hopefully after today I will be better. Again just 2 doses of this stuff, wow. Good luck to those taking it, because I have been on many of strong meds, and this one is out of the park. I too was bouncing into the walls after my 2nd dose. Very strong stuff is all I have to say. ## Actually, it's not a very strong medication, which is why the dosages for people can be taken relatively high on it. It usually works at very low...
PEOPLE !!! Read the numerous side effects of this harmeful medication.....I suffered from nerve pain in my arms, but it came & went....I could still work & function..but Dr. suggested Lyrica & the nightmare started. Everything - weight gain, severe joint pain, memory loss, loss of vision (permanent) dental issues, emotional & psycological changes, depression, black-dark thoughts-suicide? Me? I was taking 300 mg per day in 100mg doses & was a healthy 49 yr old working mum of 4. I almost lost it all ... finally, I weaned myself in 50mg doses per week until I started my first day without it & the issues slowly started to go away...I am grateful to be here one year later & feeling better than ever. Smoke cannabis, meditate, swim, massage, etc. etc.....ANYTHING BU...
I have been taking Neuarotin 2400mg a day.Doctor changed me to Lyrica 150a day. I have diabetic neurophy in my feet and hands. My question is the numbness woresened now because of the difference in drug strength or a side effect of Lyrica? ## They are both anticonvulsants that can help with nerve pain, so the side effects are really the same for both. I think it is most likely due to the dosage change. The 150mgs a day of the Lyrica is a bit lower in equivalency than the 2400mg a day you were on of the Neurontin. Learn more Lyrica details here. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They may need to raise your dose slightly.
Has any one taken Lyrica and lost the ability to climax? Hopefully if you decreased your dose you got your sex back. ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is an anticonvulsant that also helps with certain types of pain. And yes, it can cause distinct decreases in libido, like other side effects, it usually tapers off as your body gets used to the medication or is resolved within a week or two of stopping it. Other side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness and dizziness. You can read more on it here: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## THE FDA WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT THE BAD EXPERIENCES WITH LYRICA. FDA.gov/Safety/MedWatch

Sorry about the problem you've had and the pain you've been in, that's awful and no one should have to suffer like this. And yes, seeing if your GP can help in some way would be the best the thing to do in this situation. ...
