I caused some sort of nerve damage to my knee in May of 2014 by walking the treadmill every other day. I first felt a mild soreness in my knee, but then one night, I was waked up by a huge pain emitting from my knee down my calf. From then on for over 4 months I was in severe pain 24/7. Could not sit in anything but a straight chair and that for maybe 15 minutes. Could not ride in a car for more than a few seconds before a knifing pain took over. I was pretty much bed bound with my leg up on a pillow. Even eating a meal at the table was hard. Went to three different orthopedists, all of whom felt the problem was arthritis. Then I thought, "No way." And I went to a neurologist who immediately put me on 50mg of Lyrica. Then on 100. After a month, about half the pain was gone, then...

Taking 150 mg Lyrica at night for arm radioculpathy due to c5, 6, 7 herniated discs in neck. Hard to type, sorry. Hands are week. Started med on Dec. 19 so on a little over a month. My nerve pain is better, arms are not falling asleep as much. Still have deep pain in discs. Live with it, but have been offered surgery. Idk, it seems surgery may not be a guaranteed fix...sucks. Lots of belly bloat on Lyrica. I drink lots of lemons n limes in my water to flush out my body. I've noticed that when I don't eat, I'm not hungry, but when I start eating, I could eat a whole Thanksgiving Turkey myself! I'm staying very aware of portion control and how my body reacts. I take 1 Aleve 12 hr Arthritis Pill in am for the day. Good results. Use Lidocane Patches prn My whole life has cha...

What is the high feeling associated with this drug and the uncontrolled shaking and body movements u get with this drug. ## Hello, Pete! How are you? Lyrica doesn't usually cause a high, it is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and mood disorders. It may cause some drowsiness and dizziness, as side effects, as listed by the FDA. There is also a risk that is may cause seizures and an overdose could cause tremors. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am going to the beach at the end of the month.how long can I be in the sun ## Hello, Chipmunk! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no definitive answer that I can give you for this question. Most medications can make you more sensitive to the effects of the sun and heat, so you may burn, dehydrate and overheat faster than usual, but there's no specific time frame that can be applied to everyone. For instance, some people can be out in the son for hours, without having any problems or becoming sunburnt, but for others, it may be just 10 or 15 minutes, until they start to experience issues…. and that time frame may be lessened by a medication, such as this. Thus, it tends to be a highly individualized thing. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include n...

I have been taking Lyrica for about 3-4 weeks, low does of 50mg twice a day for cervical disc problems (neck) nerve pain. I am female, 42 years old. I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING MAD. Almost immediately I started experiencing a "high" feeling, and feel very disconnected to everything around me. I have trouble concentrating and sticking to any task, which is making working very difficult (I am a journalist/writer). My doctor warned me I might feel very drowsy after taking it, but I have the opposite problem - I cannot sleep. I average about 3/4 hours a night if I'm lucky. I feel very groggy when I wake and have been experiencing such violent, disturbing dreams that I constantly wake in a highly anxious state. My dreams scare me. In then I am behaving very violently to people arou...

I've been on lyrica for about 4 months and feel like I'm 100 years old. After sitting for only a few minutes and getting up my body is so stiff! When I awaken in the morning my hands are so stiff I can't close them and I can barely walk I'm so stiff. I've also been having urinary incontinence. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? ## These are listed as being very rare possibly side effects of it, known to happen in very few people that take it. Have you contacted your doctor? I'd advise you to do so, as soon as possible, because you should probably be switched to a different medication. Learn more: ## I have experienced the exact same symptom plus many more. I'd be on the fence about it as well if I had to consider it. My mom has actually been on it for almost a year now, only using it as needed for nerve pain; yet still seems to experience a lot of psychological/emotional side effects with it. There are also a few discussion threads here that you may want to have a look at before jumping the gun with i...

My lyrica 50 mg has an expiration of May 2012, with it only being almost barely 3 years old is it still effective? I took some a while ago and i think it worked... i have a back disease and am in terrible pain... i also have work today... I've read it gets some ppl "high" is that true? ## Hello, Mae! How are you? No, Lyrica doesn't cause a high. And it doesn't get dangerous past the expiration date, but it will no longer be as effective as it was when new, thus it would best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription. What you also need to be aware of is that Lyrica is not an actual analgesic, you can't just take it as needed and expect it to do much. It's actually classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant, which can also help with some type...

My Dr. prescribed Lyrica for me. I don't want to take it. My best friend gained 40lbs. Has anyone else had weight gain? ## I have been on it for at least a year now and have not experienced weight gain. This was/is extremely important in light of the fact that I had gained 35 lbs. which resulted from various antidepressants. Ive been very shocked with how much literature online there is, from patients relating terrible afflictions to taking Lyrica. Its just a guess, but Im pretty curious if maybe people having such bad responses is due to interactions with other meds?? Ive been on Lyrica, 150-225mg per day for several months for Rheumatoid Arthritis pain & Headaches. I haven't experienced any issue whatsoever and it has worked great for me. I wake up with NO pain at all for the first time in many years. I'm 31, Female and also take a few other medications but no problems whatsoever with the Lyrica. I was nervous after reading about people having weight-gain but I haven't gained a single pound. I just wonder if the weight gain is due to feeling better and not having pain, so obviously one wou...

My husband has post herpetic neuralgia and has tried all medications (like Lyrica, Gabapentin, Nucleo CMP, laser treatment, acupuncture). For the past 5 years, the pain has been managed but lately his pain is back and more intense. He does not want to depend on these medicines anymore because of its side effects. Is there someone who can recommend an alternative? He is 60 years old. ## He might try gallium maltolate skin cream, which many people with postherpetic neuralgia say has helped relieve their pain. I was on 300 MG of lyrica for 5 weeks for nerve pain from my MS. It did work but 2 weeks ago I had 5 days of 4-5 seizures a day and was admitted to the hospital. After EEG. And video monitoring I was found to not have epileptic seizures The dr said it was from Lyrica and the seizures stopped after 2 days of being off of Lyrica. Have you heard of this? I would like to restart it ad it helped but am a bit hesitant. The whole episode put me into an MS flare up also do am recovering from that too. Thanks ## Hello, JJ56! How are you? There are two possibilities as to the cause… Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant, which means that conversely, it can sometimes cause seizures in some people that take it. The second possibility is that you accidentally missed one or more doses, because a...
