Can You Take Expited Lyriva From 2012?

My lyrica 50 mg has an expiration of May 2012, with it only being almost barely 3 years old is it still effective? I took some a while ago and i think it worked... i have a back disease and am in terrible pain... i also have work today... I've read it gets some ppl "high" is that true?

No, Lyrica doesn't cause a high.

And it doesn't get dangerous past the expiration date, but it will no longer be as effective as it was when new, thus it would best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription.

What you also need to be aware of is that Lyrica is not an actual analgesic, you can't just take it as needed and expect it to do much. It's actually classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant, which can also help with some types of nerve pain. To help with pain, it needs to be taken regularly for about 4 to 6 weeks.

Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and mood swings.
