I have paid for my prescription. I haven't started it. My md said to wait until I have two days off to start. So by taking lyrica 50mg 1 st time how long should i be tired? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? Being tired and drowsy is a possible side effect of taking it, but if you experience it, it will most likely occur off an on for a few weeks, not just 2 days. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## There are tons of symptoms, I actually had issues with my speech, sight and hearing and any others. You need to remember every one is different with different prod different reactions. I would suggest that you try other medications first if there are other types that could work. Do research and ask the phar...

I am prescribed 150 mg Lyrica and periodically get urine screens that are sent to labs to allow my script to keep being prescribed. Problem is I've been out of my lyrica and don't get it refilled for 15 more days. To prevent withdrawals I've been taking gabapentin 600s daily. My question is if I should get called in for a urine-lab screen will the gabapentin show up the same as my lyrica would have, bc their part of the GABA sisters?? I'm not sure if they're specifically testing for the drug or if they're just testing to be sure there's no other drugs in my system. I wanna be sure I'm safe in either scenario. Thanks in advance!

My doctor prescribed Lyrica for severe nerve pain in my upper left leg. My specialist told me the pain is cause by my diabetes. At first, in June 2015 I was taking 75 mg., but to no effect. I took 150 mg., but again to no effect. In mid-July my doctor increased my dosage to 300 mg. I started having seizures. I decreased the dosage over a couple of weeks and stopped taking Lyrica. I took no more Lyrica, after mid-August. It is now in December and the seizures persist. Will these ever go away? I don't particularly want to take other drugs that will also cause such side-effects. Thank you. ## Hello, Mitch! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. If you stopped it months ago, then it should not still be causing seizures. Have you consulted a neurologist? It is po...

Why do I feel like I've taken multiple illicit drugs & feeling drunk all at once? Is this supposed to be an all in 1 medication? Does anyone else have the same type of reaction on Lyrica? ## YES!!! I FEEL LIKE I AM DRUNK W/O THE ALCOHOL!!!! TOTALLY FEEL SEDATED, DRUNK, JUST TO READ UP!!! BUT AFTER LIKE 3 OR 4 DAY I START CRYING....."CRYING SPELLS" I CALL THEM! DO U DO THAT OR ANYONE ELSE? THE LYRICA AD STATING IT MAY BE ADDY TIME W/PRIOR ALCOHOLICS/DRUGS UDERSZ! ## It can cause dizziness and drowsiness as side effects. The FDA also lists its other side effects as typically including nausea, headache, dry mouth, weight gain and mood swings. Thus, the crying spells also make sense. It's actually also used to treat some mood disorders. If it's causing you severe iss...

I can't stop sleeping and being really dizzy I take lyrica 75mg twice a day and Percocet 5mg 4 times a day and morphine 15mg 3 times a day and 30mg twice a day. Am I overdosing? ## Glenn, Lyrica is awful! I was on the same meds. I refused to touch Lyrica. I hate the stuff. Do yourself a favor and try to get off all of this stuff, as I have done. It ruined my life for the past seven years. The Lyrica didn't take me long to realize how bad that stuff is. I only took it for several months on a couple of occassions. That is how I realized that it was a huge problem with nodding off. Best of luck. God bless you, Dena ## Hello, Glenn! How are you? These symptoms could be caused by the Morphine, it is well known to cause them in some people that take it. I experienced them myself, when...

I've been taking lyrica 75mg 3x day which was prescribed by my physiatrist concurrently w/ Cymbalta 30mg. Great combination for me. They seem to work together. Lyrica relieved me ot debilitating neuropathic pain, burning & tingling, in feet, calves, sacroiliac, and intense aches in shins, thighs, head & neck, all associated w spinal stenosis, lumbar & cervical (neck). Before that I was taking opiates & cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxant for associated leg cramps, like Charlie horse type). When I became allergic to the cyclobenzaprine, I was switched to Valium. All good, except for the 40#s I gained and the 10" to my waist. I now have a big belly which I'm very unhappy about, despite my very strict diet. 1.5 yrs ago I had non-elective surgery: triple level lumba...

I am taking Lyrica of 150 twice daily & feeling really dizzy & like a drunk person. I cannot even walk properly. The thing is that the pain is still there. ## Lyrica can cause those types of symptoms as side effects. Learn more Lyrica details here. And this isn't actually an analgesic that will relieve pain immediately, it can take 4 to 6 weeks for this to reach its full effects in your body and to see if it works for you. However, with those side effects, it may not be the right medication for you to take and you should look into your other treatment options. Is there anything else I can help with? ## When I started Lyrica @ 75mg 3x /day, I felt exhausted but relieved that I could deeply sleep for the greater part of 3 days, only getting up for bathroom & to eat, if my ...

I used to take high doses of narcotics for severe neuropathy pain. That crap almost killed me and destroyed my life, leaving me destitute and homeless. I had to move in with my sister, and then some friends to stay off the street. I have been taking lyrica for several years and it helped, even while on the narcotics. Since going off the narcotics, I have relied entirely on Lyrica to deal with the pain. My doctor changed my dosage about a month or so ago to 300mg twice a day and soon to 300mg three times a day. The difference has been amazing and the neuropathy pain is almost completely gone while the Lyrica is in effect. I do have some side effects though, like headaches, dizziness, sleepiness but I don't care. Anything is preferable to the pain, except for narcotics. ## Lyrica has ...

Please help! I have serious memory problems ## Hi, Donna! Sorry about the problems that you're having. Yes, having a problem with your memory is actually a common side effect of Lyrica. Learn more Lyrica details here. Have you consulted your doctor? Lyrica just might not be the right medication for you to take and you may need to try something else. ## Hello, hope your Lyrica problem has been resolved. I also had a bad reaction to Lyrica. I always stop a medication immediately if I have a bad reaction to it. And you can always trump your doctor at any time and not take the medication. By law, they can not make you take it. If they push you into it, see another doctor. Even if its a prominent doctor.

Is Lyrica a narcotic? I asked my Pharmacist and they said it was. I have been taking 200 mgs 3 times a day and I did not know that. Does anyone know if it is or not? Thanks, Wendell Maddox ## Amazing, isn't it? While in the hospital in June, I had a floor nurse try to tell me that it was a Sched. II opiate. Go figure. Susan ## Like I stated in another message, I was sent to pain management doctor for pain and burning on right side after a stroke I had in 2003. I have been taking Hydrocodone and Oxycodone for the pain and discomfort. The pain management doc wanted me to try Lyrica and it started out low dosage and increased to 600 mg per day. It never did anything for my burning or discomfort. It did make me gain weight, was very expensive, and as a side effect to me, it had a profou...

I had surgery 4 weeks ago. I've been taking Oxycontin 10 mg 2 X's a day. And then Oxycodone 5 mg every 4 hrs. I'm also on Lyrica 2 X's a day. The oxycodone I try to push it 6-8 hrs but then I get nausea. I keep taking it different every time trying to trick my body out of an addictive routine. Not sure if that works, but I will try anything. However I am not sure which is more addictive, Contin, Codone or Lyrica and how do I wean from all of them?. One more thing, for the last 2 days I have hives, an itchy rash all over my body. Which one would cause that? ## Hello, Jaime! How are you? Oxycontin and Oxycodone are the same medication, Oxycontin is just a time released formulation of it. A slow taper to stop is best to prevent withdrawal symptoms and your doctor should be ...

The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant and what you've described can be normal side effects of it. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Linda, when I started Lyrica, I was frazzled with pain -couldn't eat much, broken sleep, no rest. Are they from Lyrica? I started taking Lyrica as a last resort to make bearable my 7/24/365 chronic migraines, and it really does the trick. However, I started limping, as my gait became impaired. I have head and hand tremors, significant recall/ memory issues, deep fatigue, muscle weakness, and now neuropathy in my hands and feet. I also has low grade nausea frequently. Of course, there's the 20 pounds extra too. I have been seeking medical help for individual symptoms, and there have been no answers. Now I realize it is the Lyrica. I am between a rock and a hard place. Either way, either from the Lyrica or the migraines, I am dysfunctional ...I cannot accept this. Any suggestions? ## Hello, Law! How are you? I have nerve damage, shingles, fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, the list goes on and on! I can't have Lyrica, Cymbalta, or Gabapentin. They are not approved , and they continue to reject the approval no matter how many request are submitted. What can I do? ## I am sorry, who is that is not approving them for you? Your insurance company?? You are not very specific in your post, so it is a little confusion. If they are claiming that these drugs are not approved to treat these types of conditions, then that is incorrect because both Cymbalta and Lyrica are approved by the FDA to treat post-herpetic neuralgia. If you can give me an idea of the type of insurance you have, I can try to research their formulary to see what they will cover for you, so you can discuss other opti...

Could you please advise the daily use of this medication Lyrica combined with Norspan Patch 5 mcg/hr 4. Side affects and the driving of motor vehicles? ## Hello, Nathan! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. As to driving, they can both cause some sedation, dizziness and drowsiness as listed by the FDA as possibly side effects, so taking them together may worsen that, thus it's best not to drive, until you're sure how they make you feel. Is there anything else I can help with?

I cut off three of my middle fingers at the first joint 4 months ago. I was first prescribed Oxycodon by one doctor. I got worried about addiction and switched to a hand soecialist. He prescribed Tramodo and Lyrica. After 3 months of 150 mg twice a day I can;t walk without a cane, I've gained 20 pounds, I have short term memory loss plus a host of other related problems. I'm also taking Levetiracetam 500 mg AM and PM, another anti seizure med. I've got to come off Lyrica, but if the hand specialist balks at the idea, what kind of doctor can help wean me off Lyrica. I'm willing to tough it out with the pain. ## Hello, Jim! How are you? The issue here is that your problems may not be solely due to the Lyrica. The Levetiracetam can also cause such problems, these are fairly...

Help, any solutions to the 24 hour sleepiness, ## sleepiness due to what? ## My 14 year old daughter is trying Lyrica for serious migraine headaches. She has to take it at bedtime because she gets so sleepy from it. It never wore off. The plan was to increase the dose to one in the morning as well as at bedtime; however, she was never able to tolerate that. We tried it in the morning for well over two weeks but she could not get past the sleepiness. ## Yes it is Lyrcia, I have discussed it with my physician, we have tried a 25 mg dose, it did not help the burning pain, the lowest dose I can take and have it work is 50 x 2 day. I have tried numerous drugs over the last 4 years, this has been the best one yet, takes away all the tenderness, burning, belive it or not I have had adverse rea...
