Lyrica Is Dangerous / Class Action Suit Anyone? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!

Let me begin by saying thank you to all of you who have shared your experiences with Lyrica. I have back pain, arthritis (both knees, both wrists and fingers), bursitis (right shoulder and left hip) and tendinitis (left shoulder). In addition, I also have fibromyalgia. I was on Savella for about a year but had so many stomach issues, I weaned myself off. Having recently changed doctor, we discussed my fibro and she gave me a prescription for Lyrica. I took it for four nights and had the most horrible dreams. I told my husband there was no way I could continue taking it. I woke up without having rested at all. I took it the nights of June 12 - 15. On the 18th I noticed a small rash. By the next morning it had spread. The following day I ended up in Urgent Care. The rash was everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE! They gave me a steroid shot to try and calm it down, an antibiotic because it had spread to my mouth and told me to take Benadryl until it clears. Today I went to my dermatologist because it is getting worse. He gave me a prescription cream to help with the itching. He said it is basically just a waiting game now. I am miserable! The only other medication that has ever been this bad for me was Cipro, where I ended up in the Emergency Room. Lyrica if now added to my list. I pray that whatever reaction you have had from taking Lyrica is not permanent. Thank you for allowing me to share my experience. It is time for this medication to be taken off the market!

I got off cold turkey when on Lyrica
I still have memory loss and coping problems even though it has been 8 years since then. Now I take Tylenol # 3, which works for my arthritic pain, instead of Lyrica.

Maybe someone can put these side effects on national news, if they know someone. Tell our story to NBC. ,CBS, ABC, BBC, CNN, Fox News, any major news source on TV. Tell them what Lyrica is doing to us.

Valerie , your story is heart breaking and wish I could help you but wishing will never be enough , I believe that if a class action be set up against Lyrica that will be the only truly affordable means of securing justice and compensation for all of us .......

I am thinking that Dawn is out of the thread. Her post is from 2011. I wish we could do something. I am going to try to look into this from the Canadian side. I don't know if we have a case but definite want to look into it.

I would definitely be interested in this if a suit could be filed. I had significant problems with that medication and continue to have issues, that started with the drug, and we're not present before. I 100% believe it causes permanent brain dysfunction.

If you can get a lawyer for a class action suit count me in. I was on Lyrica and it caused me to be suicidal. I overdosed because of it and it's a miracle I'm here. I have medical records to prove my case. Please let me know what you find out.

Tisha - sorry that you too have suffered the affects of this drug. I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, arthritis, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, was scoped both was to determine why I felt nauseous all the time, couldn't swallow food without choking, no appetite but continued to gain weight, major depression disorder, suicidal ideation, etc. I can name something from my scalp to the tips of my toes that was wrong. The doctors don't listen or take you seriously. They just think you are depressed and laying around on the couch all day eating so they increase your meds. Really upset me when I read obese in my record. I kept telling the doctors that this is not fat. My stomach is hard like being pregnant. I went off Lyrica, my own choice, in February and everything went away, even the 45 plus pounds I gained without even trying. The only thing I which didn't go away is the fact that all my life I have been a b-c cup bra. At age 49 I jumped and quickly to a double d and starting to bust (no pun intended) out of that size. Didn't even get to enjoy them as my stomach was sticking out. They went away too. I think all of us are depressed in one way or another. We have lost so much of our lives. Just the fact I got rid of all my clothes when I started gaining weight years ago, bought stuff to fit, and now walking out of my pants is enough to make me so depressed and angry at the same time. I don't know if the depression with ever completely go away, especially for those who have permanent side effects. In time as all the other symptoms go away so does some of the depression. I found a good councilor after trying several different ones and talking about it does help a little. Finding the right doctor that helps with your problems also helps a little, some anti-depression meds help a little too. With all these things that help a little it does make a difference. The biggest thing that would help us all is a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!! Now if we could only find a lawyer to take this on.

Lyrica induced depression or lyrica induces Anxiety is very treatment resistant as it is not naturally organic in its nature but caused by drug damage , my son still suffers from Anxiety that he never had before taking Lyrica more than 5 years after his last dose , the Anxiety is far worse than the original problem ......

Kiki - so sorry for your loss. My husband was just a year earlier and it doesn't get any better. He was the happiest person on the planet until he started taking these drugs. To those who have lost their children, my heart aches for you. No one should have to go through this. If anyone can help us all and let us know what law firm is taking these cases it would be great. This drug needs to be taken off the market.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a lawyer. I contacted many and they weren't interested. I used to be on Darvocet for my pain, until they pulled it off the market. It had less side effects and was less dangerous than Lyrica. It is my opinion that they pulled it was because they wanted to put people on Lyrica, the new pain reliever and better than aspirin. Lyrica cured all kinds of pain. I even saw one person was using it for his gout, which I had said a year or so previously that Lyrica was the new aspirin that relieved headaches to gout. It was a shock to me that they were using it for migraines and gout!!!! The drug Darvocet had fewer side effects than Lyrica but they pulled Darvocet because the drug companies were making more money off of Lyrica than Darvocet. The only people that can help are your attorney generals of each state. They have the money and the means to deal with Lyrica, the thing wrong is they are overwhelmed with health complaints from medication to nursing homes. I've given up the fight. I just say I'm disabled and leave it like that. If you do find someone, let us know.

Dawn, I can truly relate!!!!I too have great issues with Lyrica. I actually had to be life flighted to Birmingham for bleeding in the brain and aneurysm surgery. When I decided to come off it was a TOTAL nightmare! I am a recovering alcoholic and knew what I was going through was withdrawal symptoms. I am so outraged at my Dr. and this company. HOW DARE THEY? Now I have no memory at all and have a hard time with simple tasks.
