I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!
Lyrica caused severe paranoia and depression, was seen in an ER because after taking it a short time I was so depressed I could not function, and following this ER visit, convinced that my x husband was trying to kill me, I called the police and my mother in law had me evicted from my own home. My x, we were planning to remarry, had the locks changed while i was hospitalized for a minor stroke or TIA, and i lost everything i had after 20 or more years together. LYRICA MADE ME CRAZY AND RUINED MY ENTIRE LIFE.
Hello my husband was put on lyrica for a herniated disk in his back so he could work four years he took this pill also because of this he started taking a stomach pill where its so hard on the stomach . I found he stared to get quitter all time . He would come home for lunch and sleep get up take two more lyrica and go back to work same at supper time. Like I said this went on for four years he started to more agitated and depressed till one day he said I'm not taking them anymore! Well we feel that lyrica caused his condition to worsen because all it did was numb the pain enough to get through until the next pill! We feel it cause changes in personality also!
Maybe, those of us who can should get together and ho to Pfizer drug labs and picket them and tell the world that Lyrica should be removed from the market. If the demonstration is large enough it might male the news. That might be the only way to get the government to investigate the drug and the company.
Hi Mary. I am sorry that you had to go through all of that. I too was on Lyrica about 7 years ago. What a ride that was. I was on it for leg nerve pain and although it stated that it was non addictive my body was! If I missed a dose I felt like I was coming off of a major narcotic. The nausea and dizziness that I felt were awful. I am hoping they take this off the market. It ruined my wedding day because I felt so sick. Let me know if you are needing anything of me.
There is help available and we must all join together to make this drug company and others know what it has done to our lives.
Yes Lyrica should be taken off the market and all those of us who have been permanently effected by it compensated for loss and trauma , medication is supposed to be of benefit to people , not cause permanent problems that are worse than the original complaint ...
Mary you are an angel , thanks for your efforts God Bless You ....
Agreed. Lyrica is a dangerous drug that should be taken off the market. I've been off it for 8 years now, still have memory problems.
I am looking for any one and every one who have had a bad reaction to this drug and who will shout alongside myself at the right people to get this drug looked into properly..
I'll keep you and all of us who have had bad reactions to Lyrica. I think that's all we can do at this point.
Hi Mary , my Son is in the same boat as it is coming up for 5 years since the last dose of Lyrica and his memory is still badly impaired., not to mention the anxiety disorder that Lyrica triggered , he still often mentions that he does not wont to live . ....
I still have trouble with my memory. Also when I talk I can't get the right word out. I know what I want to say but I have to come up with other words until the right word comes out. I have trouble in college getting the work done because I forget what the teacher said. All this is from taking Lyrica for only a short time. I'm trying to train my brain to use new neuronal pathways but it takes time.
Are you kidding Lyrica causes permanent damage to the brain in a short time even on low doses but the higher the dose the more intense the damage or changes are and fro experience don't reverse like other drugs do
If you find some one who is not corrupted by the system who will take us on in a law suite against Lyrica then i am with you all 100%...
Contact 60 minutes, make a commercial about the effects of lyrica. Phizer sent me so many forms which was overwhelming and I could not answer all their questions.
I watched what Lyrica did to my friend not to mention the 50 lbs she gained. She had went from a happy person with the most contageous laugh to someone that didnt want ti leave her house. Drs kept upping hrr dose until it was at max. I have firomyalgia like her but refused it when my dr suggested it many yrs ago because i had such a bad feeling about it and watching her on it helped me make that decision. I believe its all about money and i refuse to help those drug companies that put out a 2 dollar pill and charge 200 they dont want to help people they just want to stuff their wallets!!
Please get back to me if your still trying to figure out about finding a lawyer. we da aged and suffering people need to band together and put a stop to this. theres GOT to be a better option for patients who cant take neurontin and have problems with lyrica. it almost ruined my life
Wow, I've posted before. I've had cataracts for about 5 years. They couldn't figure out why because I was only about 41. It's very rapid, my prescription changes about every three months. I have two kinds. One in each eye. Spots on one & film over the other. The told me you either have one or the other. Not two different types in each. They've asked several times if I ever took large doses of prednisone. I've had it 2x and didn't even take the full round. There are times I can barely drive. ( I think they will wait until I get in a major accident before they do.
I still have forgetfulness, ticks and stuttering when my stress is extreme and make weird involuntary "popping" noises with my mouth too. Etc
I am going through the same and even went through renal failure twice having major health issues.
My 87 year old mother was misdiagnosed with Diabetic Neuropathy in 2007. She was put on Lyrica which landed her in the hospital with out of control shaking, inability to stand, etc. (BTW...she actually was having a recurrence of a life-long back issue, nothing to do with her type2 diabetes). A neurologist visited her in the hospital asked if she'd ever had the problem (shakes) before taking Lyrica and when she said "no" he responded "well, I guess we'd better get you off it,". It took a couple weeks for her to get back to normal. She now has periodic episodes of small or large shakes...sometimes leaving her in a very weak condition. She has never had a Parkinson's diagnosis and, for her age is very healthy otherwise. I can ONLY relate this to her bout with Lyrica. This drug is DANGEROUS and I cringe every time I see one of heir commercials on TV
