After searching quite a bit, I finally found an organization that will take leftover Lovenox for donation: World Medical Relief (worldmedicalrelief.org). My husband is currently taking 2 shots of Lovenox a day. I believe each is 125mg? He went to his hematologist the other day and it was found that his platelets are decreasing. Could Lovenox cause this? I really hope not because they state since he was on Coumadin/Warfarin for more than 20 years, that the Coumadin no longer provided the effects necessary to keep his blood thinned out to prevent blood clots. ## Yes, Lovenox has been known to cause that, he may require a dosage adjustments, or to try a different medication. Does he also watch his diet? While on a blood thinner, he should stay away from dark leafy greens, such as spinach, that contain a lot of vitamin K. Some other medications, and foods, may also cause additional blood thinning. Is he taking anything else?

I have been taking lovenox post heart attack for 4 days. Is it ok to take plavix too ? ## WHEN I CAN USE PLAVIX AFTER FINISH WITH LOVENOX ## Both Lovenox and Plavix are blood thinners, so you should always follow your doctor's instructions for taking them, and not combine them, unless specifically instructed to do so, since it could create an increased risk of bleeding, and possible hemorrhage. Are either of you on any other medications? In the case of heart attack, you should take the one your doctor has told you to take, for your own safety. Do you know what caused your heart attack?

blood thinner ## Were you possibly referring to Lovenox, which is a blood thinner? It contains the active ingredient Enoxaparin. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising.

I WAS PLACED ON ELIQUIS FOR PROVOKED DVT FROM A KNEE INJURY. SEVERE FATIGUE AND HEADACHE ON THIS MED. SWITCHED TO LOVENOX. WITHIN 5 DAYS OF STARTING, I DEVELOPED INCREASED HEART RATE, FLUTTER AND AFIB. STRESS TEST SHOWS NO CAD AND NEG CT FOR PE. I FEEL THE SXS ARE FROM THE DRUG. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE. ALSO HAVE CHILLS EVERY EVENING. ## Lovenox has been known to cause Afib as a side effect, according to FDA warnings, as well as heart failure, increased risk of bleeding, anemia, and easy bruising. As to the chills, it has also been known to cause a fever. Have you consulted your doctor about trying a different medication? There are some news ones available that might work better for you.

I have been on lovenox for 5 days. I am beginning to hate this stuff. I take my shots at 9am and pm. In the morning it seems like I get about 30 minutes after and I am ready to lay down. I also get chills and feel like I am paralyzed.. It makes my legs and arms very heavy to move. I am typing this after my worse night thus far... Do hot my pj's are wet yet if I uncover then I get a chill. This just sucks. I have a friend adding me if there is any way to prevent the bruising all around her body she has been getting (non-trauma related and not at the injection sites) while on Lovenox. Any advice? ## If she's experiencing bruising, without having bumped into anything or fallen, then she needs to consult her doctor. Her blood may be thinning too much and he dose or medication may need to be adjusted. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, are administration site soreness, easy bruising and headache. About 14 yrs ago while pregnant I had to use Lovenox. My doctor then ordered it with an injector pen. I must have thrown the pen away thinking I would not need it again. Since then the pharmacists say there is not such a device for Lovenox now and the have not heard of one in existence.. Has anyone else used an injector pen? If so, how and where did you get it? ## From what I could gather, apparently the auto inj. pen is like having a "pre-filled" syringe. What can I do with 8 boxes of this expensive drug? ## The only thing I can suggest is taking it into your doctor or to your pharmacist and let them handle it. Some states have a program where you can turn in left-over medications and they are then provided to people without insurance at a very steep discount. Otherwise, I really can't help, since giving them to someone else is considered illegal. I think that having to give yourself shots is pretty barbaric and think that before a doctor puts a person on warfarin the patient should be made aware of this gross and creepy shot deal when you are taken off warfarin for a procedure or surgery...when are the doctors going to bring out the leeches? I am in desperate need of 14 80mg lovenox injections. I have medicaid but it does not include prescriptions. injection ## The name of the medication is actually Lovenox, it's an anticoagulant that's most commonly used to prevent DVT or pulmonary embolism. Learn more Lovenox details here. I have 6 boxes left and don't know what to do with them, I know they cost me like crazy but I don't need them anymore. Any suggestions? ## I too have a lot of Lovenox left over and need to find out how to donate it. I won't just send it as that is illegal. But if someone needs it I can send to their physician and let them handle it. ## The FDA actually has a specific set of guidelines on how to "properly" dispose of any unused portions of Rx medication. On their website they mention that some communities have what's called a "drug take-back program", in which you can take your medication(s) to a particular location for proper disposal. Lost my health insurance and just found out I have another DVT. I take 150 mg injections and I only have 10 left. Pharmacies are charging around $3,000 a month, I don't see how anyone can afford that. I just need enough until December when my insurance kicks in with my new job. Can a chest port or any other type of port be used to administer lovenox ## Hi terry, If you're preparing for a port placement, an article by Ohio State University Medical Center advises talking with your doctor first when it comes to taking any blood thinning medication such as Lovenox. From there, they go on to state that you might need to change medications or make adjustments to the amount you take prior to the surgery. I have been taking Lovenox 40mg through my pregnancy and am now 10 months postpartum. I ran out about 4 days ago, and am out of refills. I called my doctor, have left several messages with no response. The pharmacy has even tried, with no success. I did make an appointment, but it is not for another week. I am nervous. My mother has cancer that has metastasize and she currently taking Lovenox because of blood clots that were discovered. The physician had prescribed 90mg and we were using the 100mg/ml (and we simply removed 10mg). As you know, Lovenox is very expensive and we are having a difficult time paying for the meds. If anyone has any suggestion to my problem or have any left over injections, please reply to this message. I have been taking Lovenox (generic) injections since mid October when a small blood clot in my lung was discovered on a CT scan. Since that time, I haven't had too many problems with administering the drug except that sometimes when I put the safety on the needle, a tiny stream of the medicine comes out. Usually, it's only a few drops that come out and I was told that this is normal but sometimes it's more than a few drops. I can't seem to get a straight answer about this from the nurses in my hematologist's office. It doesn't have anything to do with my technique because I'm doing everything the same way. I'm very careful about getting the plunger all the way down and I wait a few seconds before I pull it out. Has anyone experienced what I'm talking...
