May I take Lopressor 25 mg and lisinopril 10 mg daily? ## Hello, Moe! How are you? Have they both been prescribed for you? They can be taken together, if your doctor says it's safe and that you need to take them. They are often prescribed together in order to bring blood pressure down as fast and as safely as possible. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My moms blood pressure was 80 / 48. She is taking the following blood pressure medications: Lisinopril 40 mg and Lopressor 20 mg. I feel that her blood pressure is too low. Please advise.

I was switched from toprol XL 25 mg once a day to lopressor 25 mg 2x aday. The nurse said it was the same because one is extended release ad the other is not ## Hi Koolau, Based on my research, the nurse was right in saying that they are the same medication and that Toprol XL is simply an extended-release version of Lopressor. Because of this however, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients which can actually be detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. I'd just be aware of this factor if for some reason you don't get the same relief or effects that you may have had from the Toprol XL. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. I hope this helps...

I use to take lopressor, the long pink pill. They switched me to metoprolol succinate 2 yrs ago. I liked the brand name lopressor better as it had no side effects and kept my blood pressure down. The insurance company said they stopped making the original lopressor then. But now I heard they are back on the market. Does anyone know this answer? ## From what I can tell, it is still available, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your insurance will cover it for you, since the generics are usually cheaper. I'm on lopressor and cozaar, is safe to takethem at the same together,lopressor is 50mgs and cozaar is 50mgs ## Hello, Katrina! How are you? Lopressor 25mg I have been on Lopressor 25mg for about 6 months, prescribed by my cardiologist for irregular heart beat and palpitations. I take it right before bed with a glass of water. More nights than not I wake up many time thru the night and lately I have been having trouble falling asleep. My heart beats irregularly when I lay down but if I get up and sit in a chair all is well. I would like to change the time I take the pill from night to morning. Have been on Metoprolol tartate 25 mg for a yeay now, I take half a pill 12.5 mg bid. For one week I have been feeling light headed and my BP has been from 150/55 to 110/47 most of the time the systolic has been in the low 50's or 47. Where you told why the switch was made? ## No. When I phoned in for a prescription, another Dr ordered it for me; when I noticed the change my physician said just go ahead and use it because they are the same. I would prefer the once a day for convenience but she said not to waste the meds. Thanks for responding. Appreciate it.
