I just started taking Lo Loestrin Fe today, Tuesday as my period started this morning. So do I toss Sunday & Monday's pills from this pack? ## No, there is no difference in the regular active tablets that makes them specific to any day of the week, so you can still take those ones. The days are just on there to try to remind women to take them regularly. However, when I was younger, they used to come with stickers, so you could cover up the preprinted days of the week and put the correct ones over it, in case your period didn't start on a Sunday. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just started taking Lo Loestrin Fe today, Tuesday as my period started this morning. So do I toss Sunday & Monday's pills from this pack? ## Hi, Julie! How are you? No, you can still take them, so you take a full 3 weeks of the active tablets. There is nothing specific in each pill to make it so it needs to be taken on any specific day. You can take the active regular ones any day, the days listed on the pack are just a guideline to help remind women to take one each day. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just started taking birth control and it's been about 3 weeks now! My boyfriend came in me today. Coul I be pregnant? Help !!! Also I'm still bleeding ## Hi, Ashley! How are you? Did you start taking it on the first day of your period? If so, then you were immediately protected from pregnancy, because it prevents ovulation from occurring, unless you missed any pills. If you started later during your period, or at some other part of your cycle, then it becomes effective after 7 days. The bleeding can be a normal side effect, due to your body needing to get used to the hormones in these contraceptives, but you should consult your doctor to be certain. ## Yes I started the moment I saw that I was bleeding! I haven't been taking it at the exact same time though because I wasn...

So last month I had a horrible uti and was perscribed antibiotics about 2 weeks out of the whole month so after I finished up the antibiotics about a week later I got my withdrawl bleed and during my withdrawl bleed I did have intercourse without a condom but I finished my last period on sep 4th and started spotting today sep 11th and I spotted for about 20 min and now its gone ive been on lo loestrin fe for almost 4 months now is this normal please let me know what you think!!! also I take my pills everyday at the same time im about 20 days away from my period. ## What antibiotics did you take? There are some that can lower the efficacy of oral contraceptives and would require you to use a backup method of contraception for awhile, due to the possibility of ovulation occurring. Have yo...

I am waiting on a call back from my doc but I have had an upset stomach two days in a row. Today it was right at three hours after taking my pill. I don't want to take too many pills ( 4 in two days ) . If it was right at three hours should I even be worried about today? ## Hi, Moonbeam! Sorry about the problem that you're having. When you say upset stomach, do you mean that you were just nauseous, or did you actually vomit? If it was just nausea, then you wouldn't have needed to take any additional tablets. And vomiting a few hours later may not require that, either. But you should consult your doctor to be certain.

I started my cycle before I finished my blue pills is this normal ## Hi, Teetee! How are you? How long have you been taking it? If it's been less than 3 months, then such irregularities can be normal, while your body is adjusting to the hormones in them. However, it's always best to consult your doctor to be sure that nothing untoward is going on.

I have beent aking this pil for about two months to stop my period while on vacation. The first month I was taking I missed ONE day and then my period started the next day. I continued to take the pill for about a week after as I was unsure if I should stop. I finally stopped taking that week later and let my period finish up. The Sunday after my period stopped I started a new pack. I stopped taking that pill on the last day of taking ( 3 week pills) as I was ready to get my period started. I should have started my period two days later but here I am a FULL WEEK later and no period. Pregnancy tests are coming up negative but no period in site! I am getting nervous! Is this normal? Meanwhile I am just exhausted, moody and my breasts are sore! ## Hi, Erin! How are you? Some women do skip ...

If it was just nausea, that wouldn't affect it and there'd be no reason to take an extra pill. Even with vomiting, if it was after several hours, there's a good chance that you already absorbed the medication, since it usually only takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start breaking down. What did your doctor tell you to do?

I started lo.loestrine fe on august 22 and it is sept 1 and my period has not stopped....is that normal. This is a new birth control pill i had never used. ## Omg I started the pills on Aug 22 also and I'm still on my period too. Its getting on my nerves. I was reading the pamphlets that came with it, and its says little to no bleeding at all, but that's a lie! I've been bleeding so much. My regular periods normally only lasts 4 days max. Omg and now its 2 wks. Hopefully it'll be over soon. ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so they can mess with your cycle for the first 3 months or so, while your body is getting used to them. However, if you're experiencing a full flow that's been going on that long, then this may not be the right oral contraceptive for...

I usually take my pill at 11 pm and I remembered this morning that I forgot to take it. I took the one I was supposed to take last night (the fifth pill) this morning at 7 am (8 hrs late). I was wondering if I should have today's pill at 11pm as usual or change my times completely? ## Hello, Hannak! How are you? You can just continue taking them at your regular time. Taking one late isn't the same as missing a pill and you should still be protected from pregnancy, but you may want to find some type of reminder to use to make sure you don't repeat the error. You should check with your doctor to be certain, but this is the usual procedure. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just wondering if you can ovulate during breakthrough bleeding/periods on this pill. ## Hi, Tammie! How are you? No, as long as you haven't missed any active pills, then ovulation should not occur. The hormones in these tables suppress ovulation, that's how they help prevent pregnancy. Is there anything else I can help with? Any other questions or concerns? ## What if I forgot a blue pill but took 2 the next day about 5 hours appart? Am I still protected if I had intercourse the day I missed one. (I took one right after ad another 5 hours later at my normal time. The next my period/spotting stopped.

I normally take my pills at 10ish pm and on saturday night I forgot to take it. On sunday I had unprotected sex and he did finish inside me. Once this happened I remembered the one pill I forgot and took it right after, then at 10pm that day I took another one. The 3 days before the sex happened I was having a little breakthrough bleeding, but the day it happened it was bearly nothing like spotting. When I went to the bathroom after there was some blood but mostly clear and reddish and it stopped the next morning. I'm wondering if the bleeding was going to stop anyway and I'm ok or if because I missed a pill and had sex that day that I might be pregnant.

I have only had breakthrough bleeding once before. It was light and lasted two days with one day of no bleeding in between. No cramps. Then I got my regular period. In my sixth month (I just started my seventh, I'm still in the first week) I missed four pills - one the first day, one the second week, two the third a day apart - and took a few late. I had sex without a condom 5 times that month. Six days before my regular period, I started a medium flow bleeding that was irregular (spotting some days, medium flow others) for five days. I had dull achy cramps. I then missed my regular period. I've been feeling strange but I think it might just all be in my head. I'm a very paranoid person lol. Could I be pregnant? Could the bleeding be from the pill screw ups?

Hey guys. So I take both Lo Loestrin Fe and Trileptal for my bipolar-ness. I know that theres an ingrediant in Trileptal that can make the pill less effective, however I take a low dose of it (300 mg). I dont know how effective it is with it being at such a low dosage. Any help would be great. ## HI, Faith! How are you? From what I can find, it doesn't matter what the dose if of the Trileptal, it affects the metabolism of the estrogen hormone in these types of contraceptives, which greatly reduces their effectiveness and means that you are most likely not protected against pregnancy. Learn more Trileptal details here. The recommendation is that you use a non-hormonal form of contraception. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Really I just wanted to know if at least some of...

I took my loestrin 8 hours late (should have taken at 10pm but took at 6 an) and then I took my next pill as well at the same time. Because of this I have gone from taking my pill at night to taking it in the morning during the same pill packet. I had intercourse 3 days later. Am I considered to be safe? (Late pill happened on day 4) ## Hi, Ann! The problems arise from missing pills, which would mean taking it 24hours or more late. As long as you still took it in that time frame, you should still be protected against pregnancy, but should check with your doctor to be certain. And taking two at once could cause a surge in hormones that may throw off your cycle, so you may get some breakthrough bleeding, or your period may be irregular this month. Is there anything else I can help with?

So, I was on the Lo loesterine fe for like 3 months and in those months I did not at all have my period. I was active and since I didn't get my period, I went to the gynocologist and she said I have sistsand that I should finish the pack and wait for my period. So like on the week or more before I finished my pack, I had intercourse with my partner, he had made contact with the wrong side, but noticed, cleaned it and put it on right, and, well you know what happens after. Could I be preg? I had done a pregno test before and came negative, after could I? ## If you were still taking the contraceptive, without missing any active tablets and he used a condom, regardless of the error, it isn't very likely that you're pregnant. Especially with the test being negative, but you may ...

I just got two packs of lo loestrin fe from my gyno to delay my cycle. I am 43 & haven't been on birth control in over 3 yrs. My cycle is scheduled to start on 7/20 I would like to delay it for 6 days due to a water sport vacation. I am currently not on my cycle so how do I achieve delaying it by taking the pills and in what order? ## Hello, I'm not familiar with all brands of birth control, but unless there are certain medical reasons that may make it unsafe for you to skip your cycle, it is generally okay to do so. As long as it's fine with your doctor, what you would do is simply skip over the placebo pills (inactive tablets) that would normally induce your menstrual cycle by causing breakthrough bleeding. However, since you are "new" to having it in your syst...

I've been taking my pills very regularly everyday but there was one night a threw up a few hours after taking my pill and am afraid I might have thrown it up. I have had intercourse once this month but can not remember if it was before or after throwing up the pill. Well I had extremely light spotting the days of when my period was supposed to come and two days after my "missed" period I took three first reponses and they all came back negative. It is my fourth month on this pill and the first three periods were regular. Could I be pregnant? Should I take another test? ## Hi, Emily! How are you? Such irregularities can be normal when you are taking hormonal contraceptives and after several months on them, they usually do make your periods much lighter. However, if you bled, ...

I started my first Lo Loestrin Fe pack last week due to long period of bleeding, it lasted about a month but not too heavy. When I had my first pill, the period did not lessen, so i had two pills a day and it finally lessened to a little spot everyday. Just last night, i took the pill two hours late, and today, I started bleeding again, pretty heavily too. What should I do now? I took the pill today though. ## Hi, Amy! Sorry about the problem that you're having. However, only your doctor is really going to be able to help you. In most cases, bleeding like that is caused by being low in Progesterone and your doctor can do tests to check your levels of it. If that's what's causing it, then simply supplementing it back may help, rather than taking a combined oral contraceptive....

I am 16 and in my first month of taking loestrin. i have been sick to my stomach on and off every day since i started. I only at the end of my first week and am considering stopping especially after reading about the side effects of others. How long does nausousness last? ## Hi, Nan! Sorry about the nausea that you're experiencing. However, it's difficult to say how long it will last, because it can vary from person to person, but side effects to hormonal contraceptives like this may linger for as long as 2 to 3 months, while your body is adjusting to it. Nausea and the other side effects you've read about are possible with any form of hormonal contraception, including the patches, shots and IUD. The best thing to do would be to contact your doctor to discuss your concerns, ...
