Trying To Delay Cycle

I just got two packs of lo loestrin fe from my gyno to delay my cycle. I am 43 & haven't been on birth control in over 3 yrs. My cycle is scheduled to start on 7/20 I would like to delay it for 6 days due to a water sport vacation. I am currently not on my cycle so how do I achieve delaying it by taking the pills and in what order?

Hello,

I'm not familiar with all brands of birth control, but unless there are certain medical reasons that may make it unsafe for you to skip your cycle, it is generally okay to do so. As long as it's fine with your doctor, what you would do is simply skip over the placebo pills (inactive tablets) that would normally induce your menstrual cycle by causing breakthrough bleeding.

However, since you are "new" to having it in your system, there is really no way to be 100% sure that breakthrough bleeding doesn't happen anyways. That said, I would think that you should be able to have much more control over your cycle once your body just gets used to having it in your system.
