I enjoy a drink nightly. Will this prevent the pill from doing its job with my blood pressure? (mixed drinks or amaretto).

You need to share this information with your doctor immediately. I made the same mistake; but even worse, when I stopped for three days straight I was diving back to New England from Texas! I had to wait a couple of hours in the morning to allow the dizziness to pass before even getting into the car!
I was told that at age 70 I can no longer be the lone cowboy I’ve been all of my life when it comes to ‘self medicating myself!
Has anyone had any reactions to Lisinopril after drinking alcohol? I've had it happen to me twice since my dosage increased. Both times I didn't drink enough to be drunk. Wake up the next morning throwing up then feel sick the whole day. Very sick. I cannot figure it out.
Have been taking 40mg per day of linisopril for 'slightly elevated bp; 130/80. (My physician actually increased my dosage from 20mg to 40mg two years ago.) Just one week ago I stopped taking my lisinopril, which I usually take before bed, now for the past two days I have been quite dizzy when I first wake up! It has taken two to three hours for most of the dizziness to pass. I loss 35 lbs 4 years ago, but have put about 12-15lbs back on over the last year. So I went from 230 to 195 and now I'm back up to 210. I am 70 years old, 6' tall and pre-diabetic. Wondering if I should continue to try to continue weaning my self off the linisopril or go back on continuously on the 40 MG dose per day? Any 'tips'?
Generally, you are warned not to take most medications with alcohol due to the possibility of it aggravating the side effects, such as the nausea and dizziness, because that can result in one drink actually affecting you like you had 2 and so on.
Learn more Prinzide details here.
With this combination, however, there are some additional concerns, if you are limiting yourself to just one or two drinks, it can actually cause some lowering of your blood pressure, as well, so you have to be careful to watch for signs of that, such as feeling severely dizzy, especially when moving or standing up.
The Hydrochlorothiazide is also a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body and the alcohol also acts as one, so you could end up dehydrated.
So no, alcohol doesn't stop the medication from working, but it can cause some problems, so you should be aware of it and know to proceed with caution. Unless your doctor has told you not to drink, at all, if they have you should follow their instructions.
You should also be made aware that this only applies to alcohol intake in moderation, which would be the equivalent of 2 servings a day for a man. There is a chance that anything over that, especially when you get into very high amounts, could result in cardiotoxicity.
