Lipitor Withdrawal Symptoms
(Newest replies first)

I stopped taking Lipitor, 40 mg daily, a week ago and am now experiencing some dizziness and my equilibrium seems effected. Are these effects to be expected? I'm currently waiting for my refill through express-scripts , but have yet to receive it. I am a 90 year old male and have been on Lipitor for approx. 4 years.

I was Atorvastatin for several years and stopped about 3 weeks ago because of side effects. I have withdrawal symptoms, depression, disturbed sleep, increased peripheral neuropathy, butterflies etc just as you have. But these will pass I have been told. Statins build up in your body over time so the longer you take it the longer it takes to eliminate it from your body, but it will get better.
I am feeling that Atorvastatin created a problem in my body that only keep taking is will solve it. but to continue taking it makes me feel damned if I do and damned if I don't. I only cut my dosage of 40mg to 20mg of Atorvastatin
I have some of the same issues. I had bypass surgery and was put on atorvastatin and have the same weakness shortness of breath and always fatigued. so I cut my dosage in half and now experiencing more head rushes.
I am a 60 year old male on 40 mg of Lipitor want to stop can I just stop is it safe

I haven't had my lipitor for the last 3 days and all of a sudden I feel like I have the flu, but it's not the flu. Sweating, dizzy, shaky are some symptoms. Could this be withdrawn symptoms?

I'm interested in the "beets, carrots, and half a red Apple daily",,, is this to lower cholesterol? Or reduce arterial inflammation?
Personally, my issue is that I'm feel like my body is getting weaker, and I'm getting short of breath after short exercise. I do have heart disease, three heart attacks in the last 15 years or so... last one being a quad bypass, 4 years ago.
I wanted to write Atorvastatin, thinking maybe that was the cause? My doctor talked me out of it, but I'm monitoring it more closely. Strange to be so weak.
I appreciate the contributors.
The symptoms you've listed are contraindications aka negative reactions, that can occur start make sense these reactions can occur on withdrawal. Look up "iHealthTube", they have tons of info. Use dietary natural food replacements. Use Beets, carrots, & 1/2 a red apple daily. That will reduce cholesterol 50%+ naturally. This i got from the aforementioned website.
I stopped atorvastatin a month ago cause of side effects to muscle pain which i still havei now get headaches and nausea is this normal.
Yes, some withdrawal effects can occur anytime you suddenly stop taking something that you have been on for a long period of time, because your body gets used to having the medication.
You may also experience some nausea and diarrhea.
