Taken this med for a year, just got the word from Dr I have type 2 diabetes. did any one else develop diabetes after taking Linzess? ## Interesting. I've been taking Linzess for about 2 yrs now (145 mcg) and it has worked great for my motility problem. About nine months ago, I started having symptoms of neuropathy in my hands & feet & have had lots of testing done to no avail. However, while my glucose tolerance test came back good, I was told that something called Hemoglobin A1C was 5.7 which may indicate prediabetes. After so much searching as for why I am experiencing nueropathiv pain, I'm afraid I might end up being diagnosed with diabetes. Because I love a healthy lifestyle and diabetes does not run in my family, i've been considering the medications that I have...
Today was the first day I took the Linzess. The Dr.gave it to me samples of the med to take for constipation. It worked with in a hour. But all it was, was water. I drank liquids to try to keep myself hydrated. Unfortunately I ended up with severe leg and rib cramps. I drank several bottles of Power Aide and lots of water. I must have been having fluid shifts. I'm was instructed to take it daily. I hope I don't have same problems tomorrow. ## Hello, Lynn! How are you feeling? Taking 290mg of Linzess 40 minutes before first meal on an empty stomach. Before I'm even finished eating I get severe cramps and run to the bathroom and have bad diarrhea. Should I be taking a lower dose? I only take the Linzess every other day. I have IBS with constipation and colitis. ## Hello, Shirley! How are you? Yes, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying to lower dosage, for awhile to see how it works for you. The cramping and diarrhea can be normal side effects, as listed by the FDA, but the lower dose may help mitigate them. Other side effects may possibly include nausea and dizziness. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hi, I've been taking Linzess about 1-2 times a week for about a year. Usually get several loose BMs when I take it, but sometimes I feel great and other times severe bloating, gas and heartburn. Also have gained 5 lbs in 6 months, could that be from the med? Is it really necessary to wait 30 mins after taking it to eat or drink coffee? Thanks!! ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Yes, those can be normal side effects of it, as listed by the FDA. Other users have reported experiencing them, as well. You may also experience abdominal cramping. After I feel really good until afternoon when the bloating comes and feel full in bowel. Taking Gas X seems to help. When does full effect of Linzess happen? If IBS-C is the reason is this a 24/7 365 day or will there be periods of relief? Don't want to be on meds forever!!! Does it get better??? Took Linzess intermittently for the last few months from doctor provided samples, didn't work great but no real issues. Filled my first 30 day supply on June 11th and have been in agony ever since. feel like I've been punched in the gut, kidney area pain, bloating, distention, and fatigue. Doc said it wasn't from Linzess, so I kept taking it. Tested liver, pancreas, everything is normal but these stomach pains will not go away. Only thing that helps is sticking to a clear liquid diet, but I can't do that forever. Last 2 nights woke up around 4am and ran, literally ran to terlet and experienced a Dumb and Dumber type "evacuation". This morning I decided to stop the Linzess. Rather be constipated. I'll post an update. May not be the Linzess causing the issues b...
although I do not eat anything for at least 30 minutes before taking the medication, I do drink a few cups of coffee. Is this okay? Also, the Linzess worked the first day I took it and then 2 days later but has not worked for the last 7 days. Any ideas why? ## Hello, Troubled! How are you? No, you shouldn't drink coffee, either. I have Gastroparesis, pelvic floor dysnersia, and chronic ideopathic constipation. I had been taking 4 capfuls of miralax daily (which stopped working), amitiza (never worked) and now Linzess. The very first day it caused severe pain and I had pretty severe diarrhea. The next few days & nights I had severe abdominal pain, but now just cramping and lots of bloating. I have not had ANY movements at all since the diarhea on day 1. Is this normal? ## I hope your seeing a gastroenterologist and if so CALL the doctor. ## Hi GPcrusader, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I've read on other related threads, the time it takes for Linzess to work actually varies greatly for each and every individual. However, I do agree with Amber in that it might be a good idea to touch base w...
I have been on Linzess for 2 days and no movement, I think I am going back to milk of magnesia, I was using this and it worked great until my doctor put me on a water pill, and I told her I could not take them, they dried me out so bad and was so weak that I stopped taking them. could the water pill dried me out so bad that my lower colon is twisted. How long should it take for linzess to start working. It is my second day and so far nothing. Also I see some people say it causes weight gain. I would have thought the opposite. Can you tell me about that? ## Hello, Bella! How are you? I'm sorry that it hasn't worked for you, yet. Has there been any change? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating and diarrhea. Is it still working well for you? ## Hi, I've had terrible bloating along with the constipation for a while and I started up on lizness about 4 days ago. I was curious if you had bloating when starting out and then it got better after the 2 weeks or was it just good since you started? (Sorry for writing so much)
This is only day 3. the first two days made me have loose bowels but only on time a day. Now today I took it at 9am then waited to eat at almost 10. I still haven't used the bathroom. I have tried twice to no avail. Its very frustrating. I feel a little rumbling and a bit of gas but that's about it. I thought this medication was supposed to relieve you of constipation not team up with it. ## Hi Eve, Sorry to hear about the Linzess not working. Your not alone though, as I have stumbled upon several reviews reporting similar issues in that regard. Some medications just don't work well for certain people and it may just come down to trying a number of different options until you find one that works best. Some remedies I've had success with in the past for alleviating consti...
