Is there anything that anybody can tell me about Lexamil?

Lizelle, you are not supposed to take alcohol with antidrepressants. It can be lethal. A moderate glas of wine or a beer should not have such an impact. Alcolhol is also a depressant. He can not just stop taking Lexamil, he need to ween himselve in consultation with your GP. Good luck.

That is axactly how I feel. IT IS WORKING WONDERS but the loss of libodo and weightgain is a problem. What 2 do?! feel like crap and eat anyway or feel good and work on the side effects?

Was changed from Cilift to Lexamil - as I was battling to loose weight gained on Cilift - still battling but now find that even one glass of wine gives me a severe head ache which no painkiller takes away the following day - could this be a possible side effect of Lexamil as the timing co-incidess with when I started the Lexamil

MC, you are not supposed to mix alcohol with antidepresants. Be very careful.

I've startes with lexamil a week ago, with dormonoct but cannot sleep at night.both tablet I take at night. Can it be the lexamil? Can I take lexamil in the morning?I've been diagnose with post traumautic stress disorder!

I take my Lexamil in the morning. Give it 3 weeks to really start working.

Hi Lizelle,
My husband is also on Lexamil and even just one whisky makes him comatose. He has no appetite and no sex drive and has serious stomach problems (he has always been prone to stomach problems and I think the Lexamil has exacerbated it.) I struggle to understand how a pill that is supposed to make you feel better about life can take away all of life's pleasures. Have you found a solution for your hubby yet?

I have recently been perscribed the Lexamil 10mg and am petrified after reading about seizures, dizziness etc. I dont care about some weight gain or low sex drive... but seizures is another story. WIll I feel the difference immediately? Is it a good idea to take my first pil at work? I am sitting with it in my hand, staring, scared of what this thing is going to do.. can someone please calm this crazy mind down of mine.

Dear Bianca. It is not that bad. It will only start working after a few days. My GP let me took half the dose for a few days and then the full dose. My first side effect was clenched jaws but that went away after some time. Then I could not reach orgasm. Now after about a year my sex drive is down the drain. My dose was also doubled since then.

Jolet, I was perscribed Lexamil last week, and have taken one half tablet! That night, I felt sick to my stamch Knowing that I had a pill that was changing my way of thinking...or in the process there of. Anybody can argue, but I TRUELLY believe that ANTI DEPRESSANTS IS NOT A CURE...and NOT the best sollution to stress/depression etc. Find the problem, and start from there. I am too petrified. JUST the mere fact that they say you cannot just continue Lexamil, that you need to gradually stop...makes me question the safety of any anti depressant... WHY, what will happen if I just stop.. All medication has a negative side to them. I have a full box of Lexamil, and I am actually consering throwing it away. WHO wants to take pills to live? or to think properly..NOT ME...i want to LEARN to controll myself. WIll take long time...but better than popping a pil every morning.

Did u take the lexamil @ night or in the morning?? I'm taking it in the morning but feel so tired and not in the mood for anything.

I took that half tablet in the morning, and have not taken one again.
I have decided...Take a pil every morning for the rest of my life, that gone change ME...OR...find the problem, and solve it, still have sex drive, still be me....
My decision - BYE BYE LEXAMIL, but you will not take over me.

I am bipolar and started experiencing anxiety attacks for no apparant reason, the lexamil 5mg was then prescribed to me for the attacks, after the 2nd day i am finding it to cause rapid mood swings (more highs than lows). was then advised by Dr to discontinue use, is it possible that the body would need some time to adapt to the lexamil, or that it just clashes with the other bipolar meds (Epilim and Seroquel)

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say that being on Lexamil has been a true boon for me. I was diagnosed with Major Depression only two years ago but under therapy found out that I have been suffering from the disease since I was 12. I am now 34. It has changed my life. Sure, there are side effects, but they can be overcome. In the 20 odd years that I was sick without knowing it, I had to learn to manage my emotions and only when it got really bad I went looking for help. As I said, the Lexamil will stabilize your moods and help you to function better. I have social anxiety disorder as well as a result of the depression and the Lexamil has helped with that too. If you are new to using Lexamil, don't fret, there isn't anything to be scared of. Being always aware of what your emotional state is and taking the drug in conjunction with some therapy can work wonders.

Lol lexamil 10 actually curbed my appetite severely. Now i never feel hungry anymore.

Hi there,

I am a Masters student of Landscape Architecture. It its only 3,5 months in and i am suffering from bad anxiety attacks. I can't stop crying and my mind races constantly, even when i'm out taking a break. My GP put me on to Lexamil to help me cope- I have been on it for 6 days and I feel even worse. Is this normal? Should I not listen to my body and discontinue the Masters as I feel like I am not coping emotionally? I don't know what to do....

Hallo Gina. You must first give the medication some time to start working. After about 3 weeks you wil see results. Don't stop your Masters - just take it easy. If you don't feel significantly better after a month, see a psychiatrist so that he can maybe work on your dopamine levels. You will get through this.

Dont worry about this. It take 4-6 weeks before you will see any change. Be patient, because you will feel ten times better. Hang in there.
