Is there anything that anybody can tell me about Lexamil?

i have been on lexamil (different strength) for 9 months. past 5 months 20mg. it has had a life changing effect on me. i still tend to be premenopausal but not nearly as irratible en anxious as before. my anger has also subdued majorly. i was not in control of myself but since taking lexamil i actually feel normal. i was diagnosed with bipolar 2 and neglected depression. i have gained weight though, about 5kgs but have been stable for 3 months now. i also stopped excersizing about the same time because of a knee injury so cannot blame the meds. would not even consider stopping my meds again. tried before. big mistake. i would rather be a nice, happy overwieght(60 kg) person than an out of control witch!

forgot to say i have definitely got lower libido but on a previous drug, Cilift(Cipramil) it was even worse. i am married and obviously worried about low sex drive but honestly my sanity is more important. i also find that if i do allow myself to have intercourse it is wonderful, and the more i do the more i want, other way round also applies though!

I have been on leximil for 5 years, and it does help. I have picked up weight and my sexdrive is down. I have tried to stop but by the third day I get so depressed that it scares me. I really would like to stop taking these but it has become a routine in my life and it scares me to be without. Doc told me you cannot get hooked? Most of all, I need my sexdrive back urgently.

HI Stephanie. Thanks for the advice. I will try and get my hands on some Bio-strath, sounds like it really helped you. I will keep you posted and let you know if it worked for me. I need to get my sex drive back urgently and get rid of this access weight that I suddenly picked up. Can’t carry on like this as it’s not like me.

I have been on Lexamil for about 1 year now. In the beginning had the clenched jaw (this went away now) later started sweating profusely and have gained app 10kg in weight. Lexamil really is good, it's just the side effects that not so nice. I want to wean myself off it but I'm scared. I really think Lexamil and probably others are life (and marriage and family) savers. Is there some herbal something I can take that will help?

I've been on Lexamil for 1 year, I have terrible side-effects, clenched jaw, sinusitus, NO LABIDO, weight gain and head aches. I want to go off Lexamil. But I must say, it was a life saver when i needed it. The side effects is just too much for me.

Theresa, they say that John's Wort is good for depression. You can not use it in conjuction with other meds. I have not used it myself.

I have been on Lexamil for 4 years, for post-natal despression. i have tried on numerous occasions to go off it, but everytime i start feeling bad and become depressed, and then i start taking it again, jsut to feel semi-normal and be able to function properly. i don't know when i will be able to go without it, my doctor said i can stay on it indefinitely if it helps me. Lexamil does make a positive difference in my life, but since my sex-drive disappeared, my marriage has been suffering, my husband can't understand why i need the pills, and why i want to stay on them if it has had such a severe impact on our intimacy. i can't go without it. i have tried, i do not want to be depressed. but what about an alternative... is there something else for post-natal depression that could help with depression, but no have such a debilitating effect on libido.

Been on Lexamil for 5 days and feel better than I have in years. Had no libido anyway, so it can only improve! I do experience insomnia, but I have been for a long time. Took a sleeping pill last night and woke up feeling refreshed and happy. I haven't cried or felt like death for 3 days now - did not think it would work so quickly! Good luck to all of you.

I have been an Lexamil for 2 days now, i take it at night. Is it normal for me to feel tired, nauseas, off balance and disorientated? How long do these side effects last?

Hallo Tercia. My doctor prescribed haf a dosis for 6 days before taking the full dose. Maybe thats why you experience these side effects.

I have been on and off anti depressants for the past two years. The reason I I stiop taking them is because my sex drive dies down and for me its an improtant part of my well being. But I guess I cant have sex if Im dead now, can I. I started taking lexamil again, and the nausea wont leave me. But I know I will feel better after a few days..

I told my doc about my sex drive and he prescribed wellbutrin XL. I lost weight with this pill, and quit smoking as well, its very gud. Just might make you feel a bit suicidal in the beginning. Didnt do much for my sex drive but relieved me a bit. Now Im taking lexamil and wellbutrin

I realy agree about the weight gain!Iv gained 25kg in just over a year WITHOUT much effort!!Im no longer in bi polar state,but i dnt go anywhere,cz IM TOO FAT!!And another BAD thing about Lexamil is it causes excesive sweating..gosh,will i eva win??

If you really have a problem like i do, severe anxiety attacks, then putting on weight should be your last worry, you obviously dont really need to be on Lexamil then.

Well, I was prescribed Lexamil for depression. I am on it for almost 6 months. It worked well after about 2 weeks of use. Felt like a new person. The side effects on that stage was that I could not reach an orgasm and also clenched jaws. The clenched jaws later wore off and by now I can reach orgasm much easier. This must tell you that the drug is wearing off. I am again very tired and if I could sleep the whole day, I would. So I will go back to the doctor and either have the dose made bigger or try something else. Good luck.

Ima chronic depression patient and have been suffering from depression since i was 14 years old. I was on Prozac most of my life untill the Prozac just STOPped working. I tried sand tested lots of antidepressants, gosh, too many to actually remember them all, and ya i am NOT happy with Lexamil, NOT AT ALL!! I have gained sooooooooo much weight and i couldnt understand WHY, and i had to leave my job as a Beauty Consultant because of my outragous perspiration from the face, head and neck. Nah these pills have ruined my life and the worst part was that i "could'n care less..."

Been drinking lexamil 20mg for two and a halve years now. Look it makes me feel great. I am a superwoman and all that I wanted to be, but there's no sex drive, gained 21kg, and then there is this problem I exsperiencing an half an hour after I have taken it I am nauseas and my stomach is just not feeling well.

You cant say that. I suffer from severe depression. The medication I take for my asthma makes me gain weight and causes depression. I get really depressed when I see how much weight I have gained. Just because someone gets upset at gaining weight does not mean that they do not need their medication. Maybe you need to have your adjusted you seem to be passive aggressive.
