i AM 29, FEMAL I HAVE BEEN TAKING LEVOTHYROXIN 25 MIICGRAM PER DAY, i ALSO TAKE ANTIDEPRESSANT AT NIGT TIME , IF ANY ONE TELL ME WHEN i CAN FEEL BETTER FOR MY HYPOTHROISIM ## I would question why you are taking an antidepressant as well. Dr's put me on those BEFORE i was diagnosed with hypothryroidism. They said i was clinically depressed. Not until the severe exhaustion, hair falling out by the handfuls, nails brittle and breaking all the time, periods like you would not believe, did they diagnose me correctly .hypothryoid. Depression comes along with hypothroidism. Once you are on the pills, your moods will be stabalized. I had a total thyroidectomy a little over a year ago followed by radioactive iodine just to be sure it was all dead and gone. Before my thyroid cancer I was in pretty good shape as I am a college athlete. Since the surgery I have gained 20 to 30 pounds. People said once I got my tsh levels right I would lose the weight but I only stopped gaining, not losing. My doctor sais they are where they need to be and I am done going up but I do not feel much better than I did before. I still have the fatigue, constipation, extreme heartburn, and brain fog. Is this permanent or are my levels really off and just not showing? HELP! I'm still in college and my grades are really taking a hit from all this! ## Well, you did not say what dosage you were on and this site is not medical professionals,...

I've been taking Levothyroxine for a bout a month and a half because I had a hyper thyroid and had to have radation to stop my thyroid. I feel much better, but I'm scared of becoming fat. My container says, Take medication on an empty stomach 1HR before or 2-3 hours after a meal. Does this mean it's okay if I take it at 5:30 am and then go back to sleep 'til 9am? Or do I HAVE to eat exactly an hour afterwards. It's very hard to gage when I'm going to be eating or not. Often after a meal, I might still have a snack within an hour. I've never been a meal kind of person. I like to graze throughout the day. It's not like I'm as big as a cow. I'm 5'1 and 3/4'' and 101 lbs. It's very strange to go from 84 lbs. to 101 in just 2 months. I&...

I was on .175 of Levothyroxine. I had a test done and the Dr. said my thyroid was too low and said I had to go up to 0.25. Is this a lower dose or a higher dose? Would it be due to high T4 levels or low T3 levels? I am confused. I've been steadly going up to the next dose each time I test. I've been at .175 for about 5 to 6 months. ## Yes, 0.25 is a higher dose than 0.175. As to which levels your doctor is referring to, I have no idea, you would really need to ask them. It is normal to try a certain dosage for several months and then make adjustments as needed, this is done with virtually any kind of medication. Have you asked your doctor your questions?

I have been on Levothyroxine (100mcg) for over a year and half. Recently my doctor had me tested to see where my thyriod level was. Aparently I tested a little hyperthyroid (although I didn't notice any symptoms) so she reduced the dosage to 75mcg. That was about 5 weeks ago. Since then I have been gaining weight and struggling to have energy to workout, although I'm forcing myself to keep my same workout routine. I didn't have to force myself before. Has anyone experienced this? I'm supposed to get tested again after being on the 75mcg for 8 weeks. Is the 25mcg difference that big a difference? I ## Yes, it can make a big difference. Your body was used to the prior dosage and you suddenly switched to a lower one, so basically your are experiencing some mild withdrawal s...

I have a tiny white pill, just off white, really, but you could call it white. It's just a little bigger than a birth control pill. One side appears to be completely blank. The other side appears to have a Roman letter capital A that covers most of the pill. In the open underside of the A there appears to be a lower case i. Below that there appears to be a very small capital T and D, separated by a slight space. There is a remote possibility that the A is a V, but then the TD is at the top and printed upside down. ## The marking is ATD, what you thought was an I is a stylized logo of a mortar and pestle. This tablet contains 19mgs of Levothyroxine and 4.5mgs of Liothyronine, commonly sold under the brand name Armour Thyroid. These are Thyroid hormones.
