UpdatedI have used Enemas every since I was six years old. When constipated I will take a stool softener. If no bowel movement on third day I will resort to a two or three quart Enema. I almost always have good results. Sometime will follow with a second salt Enema. Is there any harm for enjoying the results achieved? I do this every two or three weeks. Is there anything wrong with this practice? Any suggestions?
UpdatedI have been on Linzess for over a year now, and happy enough with the results. I had been covered through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC. There was NO problem getting the rx filled. Now I am covered through BC/BS of Minnesota. I received a letter denying the rx stating that I am not eligible because I don't suffer from active cancer pain! What the heck are they talking about?!?! Has anyone else run into this kind of issue with their insurance?? ## Appeal it and they might. Your doctor may have to do a prior auth, but I would fight it. I have before with other meds and other insurance and it works. ## Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have already appealed and I have still been denied. ## That is very odd, since Linzess is used to treat IBS with constipation, and idiopathic chroni...

Is Rebamipide is best taken with meals or with out meals? ## Need to know if Rebamipide is Prescription Drug or an OTC? ## I didn't find any specific instructions listed, but since it is supposed to help GI problems, it is probably best to take it just before a meal, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. NIH studies list its typical side effects as possibly including constipation, bloating, nausea, and vomiting. Victior, it may vary depending on where you live. Can you post back with your general location? ## Should Rebamipide be taken before or after meals?

Active ingredient: - Methylcellulose Inactive Ingredients: - Adipic Acid - Calcium Carbonate - Crospovidone - FD&C Yellow No. 6 - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Polysorbate 80 - Silicon Dioxide Out of curiosity, were you just wondering exactly what your pill is? Anyone taking the 72mg dose of Linzess, and what are your experiences with it? I just filled the prescription and want to try, just worried. Thanks. ## Hello Drew, According to the NIH linzess has the following adverse reactions. For all of these only 10% of users experienced these symptoms. - Diarrhea - Abdominal pain - Flatulence - Abdominal distension - Viral Gastroenteritis - Headache It's smart and understandable to be cautious when taking new medications. If you feel that any of your symptoms are out of the ordinary or too severe for you to handle please consult your doctor as you may be having an allergic reaction. Have a wonderful day and I hope this helps.
I am looking for a manufacture coupon that will help me pay for my Suprep Bowel Prep Kit. I am 70 years old and can not afford this medication. Can you help me? ## I've done some searching, but I am sorry, I didn't find anything for patient assistance. Since this is a laxative that is used to to clean out the colon in preparation for certain tests and medical procedures, it is generally a once time purchase and most manufacturers of these products don't offer assistance by way of programs or coupons, because it isn't consider life sustaining and isn't something you are going to be using regularly. There are, however, other alternatives on the market, most doctors just prefer this one, because it is new and contains no sodium phosphate. Have you tried asking your doct...
I need to take my methadone and I just drank some miralax without thinking, who thinks it won't matter if I take it now? ## Hello, Based on my research from umm.edu, there are no drug interactions listed between Miralax (Polyethylene Glycol) and Methadone. So my theory is that you shouldn't experience any problems with taking the two together. However it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to still give your doctor a call for a second opinion, if you're looking for further validation. I hope this helps! ## Can I take Miralax while I'm on methadone càn someone help me ! Thank u ## Definitely. I'm on methadone but i take a double dose 2x a day. the regular dose is not for drug constipation. You may have to take it a few days for it to work.Good luck
My 8 yro son took miralax for 10 days for his constipation. He stopped taking it 2 days ago and is still having very loose bowel movements almost hourly. How long will this continue? I'm at my wits end, his bottom is getting very sore. ## In my opinion, it would be good for him to try and consume more binding foods, such as bananas, to help slow down and regulate his bowel movements. It's difficult to say how long one can experience loose bowel movements, since everyone reacts differently to these types of medications. Was the Miralax dose taken exactly as indicated on labeling (it says 'once each day' on Miralax's webpage)? I only ask because it does sound like he had a bit too much. I know this response is a day after your post, so I do hope that he is feeling bett...

IM LOOKING FOR THIS LAXITIVE CALLED GENTILAX IN IRVING TEXAS I KNOW ITS FROM MEXICO BUT I'M ASSUMING IT'S HERE TOO. ## Actually, it isn't regularly available here in the U.S. anymore. Gentilax contains the active ingredient Phenolphthalein and it is being removed from the market in over the counter products due to the fact that it has been found to be carcinogenic. Learn more Phenolphthalein details here. However, there are many available that are safer to use and really, the best one of all is just to increase your fiber intake, via your diet or the use of supplements. What others have you tried? ## Trying to locate a store in San Diego California that sells this laxative as it is the only laxative that I find work for my situation. ## Theres a store by my house here in Chi...
can i take gentilax if im pregnant for consipation? ## Hi miriam, According to a clinical trial posted on PubMed, "phenolphthalein treatment in pregnant women associates with a higher risk for Hirschsprung's disease in their children, but this finding is only a signal which needs confirmation or rejection in other studies." NOTE: this drug is labeled under Pregnancy "Category C" meaning - Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks. With all that said, I would probably consider some (natural) dietary options for treating constipation as opposed to any prescription medications. Just to p...
Can I take gentilax in the morning? ## Hi Maria, From what I could gather, Gentilax contains the active ingredient Phenolphthalein. Apparently there is no specified time frame that one should be taking this medication. So it sounds like you can just use it as needed. A recommended oral dose is 1 to 2 tablets, however its effects are said to be cumulative by increasing or decreasing the amount you take. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Phenolphthalein Details I hope this helps! ## Maria: The active ingredient of Gentilax is phenolphthalein. It usually produces a bowel movement in 6 to 8 hours. So if you were to take a dosage at say, for example, 8 am in the morning you could be having a bowel movement as soon as 2 pm or more likely around 4 pm in the afternoon. ## I tak...

I started taking Linzess in early August and around the end of August I broke out with a rash and had severe itching and had to go to a dermatologist. She thinks I had a allergic reaction so I am taking the linzess twice a week. Its not working as well as before, but I was miserable for a month with the itching. ## Hello, Lulu! How are you? The problem is that even just taking it twice a week may not be safe, if you are allergic to it, because such reactions tend to get worse with time. Have you consulted an allergist or immunologist? That might be a good idea, in order to get a better idea of what's going on. ## Thanks Verwon, I will talk to my doctor about seeing a allergist. I am allergic to aspirin, penicillin, so I need to check into this. again thanks! ## My body itches me and...
