MiraLax is a laxative agent and really shouldn't be used for long of a time period, unless your doctor has recommend such and is monitoring your condition. Common side effects can include: nausea, gas and diarrhea. Did you have any other questions? ## I am 88 years of age and have had no problems with my bowels. I started taking Pristiq (not on it now) and ever since I have been constipated. I am trying mirolax (2nd day) and no results. Suppositories work fine--but I understand they shouldn't be used daily. Once I can get started to have a movement, it is normal. Just getting started is the problem. Have you an answer?

I have been taking two pills of Sulfameth Trimeth DS per day for the last 30 days. Can it cause constipation? ## Sulfameth/trimeth ds was prescribed to me for a staff infection in my right eye. I asked my doctor and pharmacist if it causes constipation. Their reply was no, but I am experiencing it. It makes my eyes sensitive to sunlight, and my left arm was twitching a little. I have head aches and I feel very fatigued. I just hope my bowels return to normal after this whole cycle is done with. ## Well, if you are taking the medication for 30days or more, you should not let the constipation last that long, it can be dangerous. You can try fiber tablets or stool softeners such as Dulcolax to get things moving again. In most cases, your doctor and pharmacist would be correct, antiobiotics...

The pharmacist said it was okay to add a teaspoon of Crystal Light or a few drops of lemon juice to the solution - but online instructions warn against adding any flavoring to the solution. How would the flavoring be harmful??? ## I'd like to hear a formal statement on this issue. The pharmacy is telling my patients they cannot add ANYTHING to their colyte solution... but I have always instructed them to add 1 packet of Crystal Light for flavoring if they prefer. I do not believe the sugar-free, flavoring w/ artificial sweetener changes the osmotic properties of the solution, which would be the concern if patients added sugar-containing or electrolyte-containing flavored solutions, which would make the solution less effective or potential harmful depending on the components added.

Do I have to take senna 5 pills everyday along with the bethals ## These are over the counter products, so I don't really know how they are recommended to be taken. However, you should know that using Senna is not a healthy way to try and lose weight. It is a laxative, so long-term use can cause many problems, including your body becoming dependent on having it, which could result in constipation when you stop using it. Bethel S 30 is also a supplement product, that is claimed, but not proven to help with weight loss. To properly loose weight, you should follow a good diet and exercise regimen. is there a substitute for liquid lactulose - pill form ? My son doesn't like taking it and would rather a pill ## LACTULOSE PILL FORM ? ## The only thing that I've found is Kristalose which comes in packets in powder form. If you mix it with chocolate milk you really can't taste it. It's pretty expensive, though.
