Knoxville Pain Managment Raided By Fbi
UpdatedLast Tuesday my (along with a lot of others Im sure) pain management center was raided by the FBI (also other clinics) and the staff were always very strict (Current MRI's, Blood Work, UA's every time) and have always followed the rules. Also (local paper said) my primary care DR.'s office has been closed because he apparently was involved (local paper said he has got a target letter from the government) and Now I'm left with no primary DR. Or Pain Management Dr. it's also my understanding (local paper) that the FBI has all my records. I have multiple injuries (I almost died from a few years ago) from a auto accident. Extreme Back,Neck,Leg pain and have MRI's to prove this but I called the FBI and the lady who answered said someone would get back in touch but I have not heard any thing back yet. Can someone please help me on what I need to do and any Dr.s and Pain Management Clinics I can call?

I'm experiencing the same dilemma as you. CHC pain specialists managed my neuropathy. Prior to becoming their patient I was required to provide a referral from my primary care doctor, radiologist reports interpreting my imaging (MRI, X-rays, CT) findings, my pharmacy records for the last year, and other relevant health records substantiating my condition. The Dr that evaluated me at my first visit reviewed my medical history, performed manual muscle evaluations on affected muscles, measured relevant areas of my range of motion, and listened patiently while I described my trail bicycle crash & resulting injuries and treatment plan set by my orthoaepedic Doctor who eventually recommended pain management for the inoperable structural damage of my shoulder girdle & neck. I was a patient at CHC for 2 1/2 years and never had cause to question their legitimacy or legality. I never saw people loitering in the parking lot, didn't see a security guard, never saw impaired people or any other questionable practices or behavior. I underwent a UA every appointment, went to an independent lab that took samples of my blood to check my liver panel and other diagnostics to determine whether my liver & kidneys (the body's filters) remained healthy while my body metabolized the medications prescribed to me, every 2 years went to an independent imaging center to have follow up MRIs performed so my Dr, PA or GNP could review the radiologist's report which described in detail structurally damaged areas. I was shocked to learn someone's practices affiliated with this healthcare company were not above board or were potentially illegitimate or downright illegal. BTW I never saw the woman in the mug shot which was displayed in the news article.
This woman must've been a silent participant because the staff I encountered were professional & educated. They never prescribed the meds in question which were also reported in the news. They prescribed Neurontin for a bulging cervical disk that resulted in a chronic painful neuropathy, Meloxicam to treat inflammation in my affected joints & Tramadol to treat the unrelenting at times neuropathic pain. Oxycodone never came up in the 2.5 years I was their patient. I'm grateful to these compassionate hard working healthcare providers as they offered me relief from several years of intermittent unrelenting pain. I hope each staff member is holding their heads up proudly. It wasn't uncommon for onversation in the office to be about what the staff needed to do to fulfill Health Board rules & regulations, DEA bstandards of practice & compliance, HICFA guidelines for documentation & HIPPA compliance, and other required practices to list here. Suffice to say that as a healthcare provider myself, CHC appeared legitimate & legal and to fulfill any governing body's requirements. Also, they accepted my BCBS ins & processed it. I paid the difference with my credit union debit card. Sorry for the long post, my heart goes out to the employees that lost their jobs suddenly & without warning. YOU didn't know there was someone(s) behind the scenes that wasn't complying with the laws and governing bodies-HICFA, Health Boards, DEA, etc. I pray that the employees that helped me in so many ways and always kindly find suitable employment quickly and that the acts of the arrested woman who none of you ever met do not negatively impact your lives or your livelihoods. God bless you all!
I am very discouraged by the healthcare system here in Knoxville and Tennessee state. I have pain issues as well as anxiety disorder and Noone in area wants to do anything but wait. I was traveling to the city I lived in for a few years13hours each way and had legit reasons to be on the meds. I can't afford to go anymore out of state and every person I'm referred to basically doesn't do jack crap about anything and they constantly want to try to treat a person like a guinea pig here or not like a real person if you don't want great insurance. What can I do
