Klonopin Brand Name (Page 10)

Updated

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

If you go to the site I listed, go to the Last page, there it shows the Labels for the
0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg. Click on the label and it will enlarge it. It says at bottom of page it was revised Dec. 2013. The 1 and 2 mg say Made in Mexico, and the
0.5 mg says Made in Switzerland. Of course, this was as of 2013.

My new bottle of 0.5 mg now says: Made in Mexico.

I do not know about the New 1 and 2 mg. You could ask the pharmacy to look on the bottle they get.

Peg, I don't seem to have a problem with Klonopin after the reboot of production. I'm not arguing that some people might feel like it has changed though.

K was off the market for 4 plus months. I believe that when it came back the perception of what it might have worked like might of been skewed by because of the amount of time that had passed along with alternative drugs that where tried. It's very possible that people's bodies just might be interacting with it differently for whatever the reason.

Same thing some people went through when name brand Excedrin was taken off shelves for a long period of time not to long ago.

I cannot find nothing however that points toward K being made diff. People say some of K is being made in different places. Most likely to boost initial production. Could be permanent though. I dint know but that doesn't mean it's made different.

First thing I did and still do even as of yesterday, is go to Gens web site and check revision dates on the formulary sheets and unless Roche/Gentec are asking for a huge legal suit against them it hasn't changed. The one sheet has the exact amounts of every chemical that's in a Roche K tab.

Has anyone called the Jersey or San Francisco office of Gentec and asked a representative if it's changed. If so, let us know on here please.

Konopin is shipped in bottles of 100 tablets. The bottle the pharmacy gets has the official label from Genentech on it and states where it is made. (like the labels shown on the site I mentioned)

My prescription for the New brand Klonopin was for 100 tablets. Instead of switching these to a regular pharmacy prescription bottle, the pharmacy just gave me the original bottle it is shipped in from Genentech, which has the official label on it, and it says made in Mexico.

If you get a regular pharmacy prescription bottle then it will not say where it is made.

But, you can ask the pharmacy to look on their bottle to see where it is made.

Today is December 1st. and no Klonopin yet. Looks like either they are being investigated by the FDA or are under litigation from a consumer/s? The case is this brand name is horrific. Have also being to the ER with dizziness, headaches, anemia, low potassium. Have been cutting down on the dosage to see if I get some relief. Any suggestions? Don't want to go on Xanax. Good luck to us all.

Lotus, Klonopin is back in stock everywhere that I know of. Someone isn't telling you the truth or your pharmacy can't get them for some reason. I don't use a chain pharmacy and my privately owned can get them. As far as I know, all the chain pharmacies have Klonopin on stock also. You can call gentec and they will tell you its been back in production since Oct 31.

Good luck.

To usta etc.

It does NOT matter even if Claimed ingredients are the same.
The compounds form differently for any number of reasons.
See how your Mexican Ferrari works. (or Mexican Bourdeaux)

ergo, new Brand name is just another Generic - now Tijuana crap.

I'm going to be trying several more generics over the next few months, and have been suffering all the while so far: 6 months... 4 Fails since real 'K'.

Klon have you tried named brand? It was off production from January to July 2011 and it was still the same when they started production again. Has anyone who's been taking the named brand since it's been back this time had any issues? I honestly can't tell the difference with the named brand since I got it last month.

The new Mex-Klon is adequate, not as sedating, but missing it's original tranquilizer feel. Seems like Klon-light. If I have to pay extra for Brand, I would say Teva is possibly better in the sedation category. Make no mistake, you will not experience withdrawals with the new Klon, but it's anti-anxiety profile seems some flatter thatn from prior to temporary shortage.

Anyone have any experience with Xanax (brand) XR?

Good News: I got Brand Name Klonopin last week. Bad News: they are NOT the same as old ones. It's like a New Generic.
I took my last 'Old Stock' Klonopin the night before the I got the new ones. (after 20 yrs of taking it) NOT the same. It's a New formulation IMO despite same look.

Got it now? New ''Brand name" isn't even as good as Qualitest or Teva Generics. Anyone paying Retail/multiples/uninsured rates for 'brand' NOW is an i****. re-manfufactured 'brand' IS "Generic"

I now have a complaint/case-file with Genentech pending.

Roche's seem to work the same as they did before they stopped production for me.

Been on Klonopin for 10 years with a Name brand script necessary .

I will say during the shutdown Teva worked the best but its made to sedate faster and harder which in turn makes the dose not last as long as Roche's. Horrible trade off. You'll take more pills.

Mark in PA you seem to think 'same' formula makes same drug.

1. All generics Ostensibly have the same formula/active ingredient and all are Different.

2. 'Same' ingredients/compounds from different suppliers in different mfg machines and conditions could yield Vastly different effects.

3. Klonopin ceased mfg for app 8 Months (Feb -Oct, even tho available to app April) and moved from Switzerland to notorious Mexico.

3b. IOW, good luck with who you're getting the 'same' ingredients from now since most Generics are 40%-80% Third world (Mexico, China, India) 'stuff'. In fact ALL of Now-Mexican-made Brand name 'K' may now be 'Tijuana special.'

pt 1: ""..The formulation may also differ dramatically from the brand name. Many pharmacists may be unaware that the physical characteristics or release properties of a brand name drug often stay under patent even after the active ingredient becomes available generically. This is especially problematic for slow-release or LONG-ACTING medications. Generic manufacturers may have to come up with different technologies to deliver the active ingredients. This means that the products are NOT always “indistinguishable or one and the same.”

To see this for yourself, visit the FDA’s website and report on the antidepressant bupropion XL...."

pt 2, cont'd

">...If you look at the graph the FDA provides you will discover that the mean plasma concentration of the two drugs is certainly NOT identical! The generic formulation (which uses a matrix technology to release the active ingredients) produced peak blood levels in 1.5 to 2.5 hours, whereas the brand name product (using a membrane technology) produced peak blood levels around 5 hours.

This kind of information for other generic formulations is not always easy to access. Here is something else a pharmacist might not realize. According to the FDA, 80 PERCENT of the active and inactive ingredients in our pharmaceuticals come from abroad. It is estimated that 40 PERCENT of the finished pills come from abroad including countries such as India, China, Brazil and MEXICO. It is also very clear that the FDA does not have the resources to inspect all or even many of the manufacturing plants producing either the raw materials or finished products millions of Americans take every day. That means that there is NO verification system that the pills are exactly what they say they are.

We have seen manufacturing problems with some of the most prestigious drug companies in the U.S. (Johnson & Johnson and GSK). These problems occurred at plants where the FDA visits on a regular basis. Do we really believe that chemical companies in China that are not inspected are producing perfectly identical generic drugs at cutthroat prices?..."

again, you really think the New Mexican "Brand" name is the same as the old Swiss in every compound's strength/structure, combination, and mfg method?

Try making Bordeaux in Mexico City.

KLON,

1. I said that I don't notice a difference.

2. Your long rant proves absolutely nothing to me as you presented no evidence that Klonopin is made different now. You have a opinion and that is all. Each claim was not backed up with evidence.

Why don't you just call Gentec and ask them if it's different?

No one on here that claims the drug is different has made contact with Gentec. Then, reported back here to help others.

If people on here (including myself) are getting ripped off and paying name brand price for generic level Klonopin, I'm sure they like to know. I know I would.

I cannot accept a theory based on speculation that it's different just because of where its made.

Klon,

What are you taking Klonopin for? Seems like you may have OCD. Don't know but I don't appreciate being address like I'm ignorant. I spoke to the Pharmacist at Gene. and he told me that there has been NO formula change at all. That is was exactly the same. What makes you think the Swiss would do any better? Gene is in San Fran, it's a heck of a lot closer to Mexico, ( Just across the border) then Swiss.

So far, I haven't noticed a difference but if I obsess about it long enough I will.

I have OCD as part of my overall major anxiety issues and I don't need this kind of crap!
