Is It Legal To Test A Patient For Alcohol Misuse Without Telling Them?

I moved to a new state and noticed on my bill that he doctor had tested for alcohol misuse. Is this legal?

You signed papers giving the dr permission to test and treat you. So yes it is legal. You may not remember signing these papers because they are all together with the new patient forms when you see a dr for the first time. Even if you started seeing this drs yrs ago the permission to treat forms don't expire.

Doctors do whatever they want. They gave millions of addictive meds like candy for years and NOW they just take 'em away. You hear all about these "addicts" but never about the responsibility of the doctors who made this happen...? Why? I'd like to take all these doctors, give them 2 months worth of "opioids"(GOD I'M SICK OF HEARING THAT WORD), tell them to take 6 a day, and then put 'em all in a big field and announce, "THAT'S IT! NO MORE!" AND watch the desperation they encounter. ESPECIALLY those who ACTUALLY hurt so bad they feel like popping their eyeballs out. BUT these self righteous docs, that received extra goodies for prescribing all these evil drugs.. guess the oath they took is as valid as a 3 dollar bill. I just don't understand why,in the media, NONE of the blame is put on these COLLEGE EDUCATED DOCTORS THAT KNEW DAMN GOOD AND WELL WHAT THEY WERE DOING. Also, has anyone but me noticed that, ALTHOUGH YOU'RE PAYING THEM, that MOST doctors (not ALL) ACT LIKE THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR JUST BY SEEING YOU AT A APPOINTMENT!? Wth? HELLO DOC...I AM PAYING FOR YOUR SERVICE- not the other way around. Should I tell my type 1 diabetic sister "So what that you are a brittle diabetic....QUIT pumping insulin into you via "the pump"...JUST EXERCISE! ? ALOT OF people suffer horribly from chronic pain and DON'T CARE IF IT SHORTENS THEIR LIFE BY 5 YEARS... THEY WANT SOME "QUALITY OF LIFE" NOW!! NOT WHEN THEY ARE ON THEIR DEATHBED. I was told when I was 9 or 10 ,BY A DOCTOR, that all people are made differently..that "nobody is made exactly the same as another" BUT now those same hypocrites tell patients "oh 43 is too young for crippling arthritis "...like that person is gonna jump up and say "OH really! Well hell...thank you. That healed me right up! I feel great just because you said that!" Hmmm..hypocrisy... hypocritical oath..?? Even if I am spelling that wrong...YOU GET THE POINT!
