There are other medications you can try, many of them, actually. You just need to speak to your doctor about the problems you're having.
The dry cough usually necessitates a change of medication, because unlike other side effects that usually go away with time, it tends to stick around.
Other side effects, as reported by the FDA, may include dizziness and hypotension.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Thank you for your advice. however my doctor seems to think that Losartan is the tried and tested treatment for high BP.....it may well be but the side effects are not helping me in coping....I do not need a life with the horrendous side effects..
I have been on lisinaprill for some time and still had readings like your second readings but i found some articles on edta powder i have been useing it and it seems to be working as the articles said it is supposedly removing plaque from circulatory system thus less presure needed to move blood & supposedly also lowers cholesterol levels .... been using since bout thanksgiving my bp is down have not had new bloodwork yet ... do your research b4 trying this it is available @ bulksupplements
My doctor gave me Losartan after dropping Diovan, too expensive. Losartan let my BP hike up to 165/110. I called Walgreens to see where it was manufactured. China. It was them tested and found to be nothing more than a placebo, a sugar pill. I want no more generics from China, India or any Malaysian country. I am now on Valsartan, Teva brand. My BP dropped to 127/73. Find out who your manufacture is before you take any generic. Pharma just wants to make money.
With a systolic BP this high, you probably need to try adding a diuretic to Losartan. There are other drugs in this same classification, Angiotensin Blockers, that you could try, but your systolic BP is really high.
These class of drugs have been shown to be the better antihypertensives, but there are other classes. Try diuretic first.
