I was taking 120mg x daily and he had me stop taking it completely. Is a headache common after suddenly stopping? Also, will your BP increase? Will these go away? I'm also on cartigen. Thanks. ## Yes, a headache and elevated blood pressure can be a normal withdrawal effects, according to the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?
I have been prescribed both the drugs. What are the dander of taking both these drugs, since taking these I am constantly light headed, loss of appetite and weight loss along with blurred vision. ## Hello, Graham! How are you? Amiodarone can increase the levels of Digoxin in your body, so you may need a dosage adjustment, since those can be typical side effects, as reported by the U.S. FDA. Have you informed your doctor? How long have you been taking them? ## Now taken off both of these drugs due to side effects, feeling a lot better. Do you know how long these th drugs remain in your system.
I started taking flecainide in Aug after being diagnosed with a-fib. In September I noticed my jaw getting tight and popping while chewing. I had TMJ when I was younger, so I pulled out the mouth piece and wore it for a couple of weeks at night. This seems to help, but I've also noticed pain in my knee as if the muscles seem to not want to straighten out. Sometimes the pain radiates into my feet and toes. Icing helps some but it is very frustrating since I'm on my feet all the time. ## I was taking flecainide along with elequis and ached all over. I stopped the flecainide. However my jaws still ached and the top of my legs still ached including the knee pain. I have gone off the elequis (blood thinner) for short periods and problem goes away. I am looking for another blood thinn...
What's an effective combination as SSRIs are contra-indicated? Bupropion just isn't efficacious. Anyone have any experience with other drugs and what are they? ## Hello, Sdarcy! How are you? I've been searching, but so far, everything I've found and checked is contraindicated with the Tikosyn. Did your doctor suggest anything else you can try? I even researched some of the antipsychotics. Tikosyn is listed by the FDA as being used to treat irregular heartbeat and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and cough. Does anyone else know of anything? ## Paxil is safe to use with Tikosyn. I am on low does for anxiety that caused PACs. On longer have premature beats.
side effect of decilon forte ## I have recently started taking amiodarone for my heart condition which includes out of control heart beat of 200 a minute. However, it is making me very sick to my stomach and I cannot eat. I am 90, losing weight and getting depressed. Is there something to take for the nausea? ## Decilone Forte contains the active ingredient Dexamethasone, this is a steroid, it used to treat various conditions including inflammation and allergic reactions. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and dizziness. ## Amiodarone is an antiarryhythmic agent. Nausea is not listed as a common side effect. We are also NOT medical professionals, so we have no way of knowing your medical history or any possible interations with other medications you may be ...
Why is the 100 mg tablet of Amiodarone about $200 for a 30 day supply at retail, when the 200 and 400 mg tablets are about $20 and $30 respectively? I became aware of this when my father, who does not have Schedule D coverage, was prescribed Amiodarone. There seems to be price gouging going on. Some manufacturer must have a monopoly on the 100 mg size. Is it Usher Smith? Let's look into this! ## Hello, Otis! How are you? The only explanation I can provide you is supply and demand, or because they can. The U.S. is one of the few countries that does not regulate prescription drug prices, so it is very common for the drugs, or dosages, that are in high demand to cost more than others. Given that the higher doses are cheaper, it might be best to ask his doctor about prescribing one of t...
My doctor told me to stop my flecainide a couple weeks ago because I was having a hard time breathing and wanted to see if that was the problem. I don't think it was because I'm still having a hard time breathing and I was wondering if I can go back on it without having to consult the doctor ## Hello, Joan! How are you? I'd advise you not to do so, until you see your doctor to have this checked out in more depth. If you have been taking this for high blood pressure, or edema, trouble breathing could be a sign of congestive heart failure, according to the NIH. It is best to be very careful and safe. I had such an issue years ago and I ended up passing out in the ER, waking up later full of tubes, due to congestive heart failure. Is there any particular time of day that it hap...
I have been on flecainide 150mg twice daily since about 2008 and i have had an Ablation in 2010 which did not work. I have two questions first has any one had extreme almost abilatating fatique ? After complaining to my doctor he had me run on the treadmill and did other test but can not explain the source of the fatique. So I started researching it on my own. My other question has anyone had a second ablation and it did not work ? I have rhematiod arthritist but this suck so much worst than the pain. ## Hello, Phil! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, fatigue is a known side effect of this medication and it is known to be severe, almost debilitating in some people that take it. You may also experience abdominal pain, visual disturbances ...
I have been on Flecainide for 15 years. I have read that there have been studies saying that it can cause peripheral neuorpathy, but does does anyone know if it can cause the more insidious infiltration into the autonomic nervous system (ex- nerves that communicate with the heart thus causing cardiovagal failure or nerves that communicate with the bladder causing urinary inconinence...)? I just got back from Mayo Clinic where my sweat test and autonomic tilt table test were severely abnormal. The doctor said that it is not just sudomotor failure/peripheral neuropathy, but that the nerves that communicate with the organs are also damaged. I also have developed orthostatic hypotension so that I seem dizzy all the time and especially when I change positions. The ringing in my ears is so ba...
I have a difibulator due to an irregular heartbeat. Is it safe for me to tale this medication? ## Has it been prescribed for you? You should only take it, if your doctor approves. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and nervousness. Are you on any other medications?
I have been on this drug for the past 2 yrs. After being on various AF drugs, most only last 3-4 yrs. Also had 2 ablations. I am evaluated every 6 mos. liver, thyroid and x-rays of the chest. My very 1st drug for AF was Amiodarone, only lasted 2 yrs. I take 200ng a day. We have tried to cut down, but I will start having flutter etc. ## Hello, Finlander! How are you? There is really no time limit, some people need to take medications like this for the rest of their lives. It depends on whether or not it is helping you and your liver function remains normal. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and vision problems. With the evaluations you said you're having every 6 months, your doctor is doing the right thing and being very conscien...
Sotalol is keeping my husband out of afib. His pulse rate is low (47 to 55) 'gave it to him in emergency room. Didn't, even know he was in afib found out at doctor visit. I am very worried about size effects would. Like to know if other people are taking it and if they are comfortable with it ## Hello, Silver star! How are you and your husband? He should consult his doctor regarding his low heart rate, it may be indicative of a problem and is usually included in the warnings that come with this medication. As to whether or not others are comfortable with it, it varies from person to person and usually depends on whether or not they experience a lot of side effects. The FDA lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, blurred vision, sweating and weakness. What side effec...
Can I list all of dads meds to get some feedback on possible interactions that docs haven't explained to us or that we may not have fully understood? ## My dad, age 82 takes the following meds: Valsartan; Omeprazol; Adiro; Sutril; Trangorex; Amlodopino; Sintrom; Alupurinol & Bisoprolol. Had no probs until he started on the Sintron in Dec '15 - he's taking part in a hospital trial for this blood thinner. Starting dose of 10g over 7 days has been gradually reduced in an effort to achieve an INR of 2-3. Still not got there. Often 5+. Dark urine was evaluated at the clinic & was ok. Thought no more about it till it became very dark so we went to A & E. Admitted him. Blood work, X-rays OK. Catheterised & washed out bladder for 36 hrs. Further blood work. Then rele...
I have been put on verapamil 120 3 times a day plus flecaninde 50g twice a day. I have been on verapamil for a few months. My consultant has just added flecaninde for vt. Are these drugs safe together? ## Hello, Ang! How are you? Yes and they are often prescribed together to get better control of high blood pressure, congestive heart failure or edema. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with?
My usual dose of tikosyn is 3 0.125 capsules every 12 hours. By mistake I took 5 capsules instead of three. What should I do? ## @cnf, If this had happened to me I probably would've called my doctor and the American Association of Poison Control Centers, who can be reached 24/7 at: 1 (800) 222-1222. This extra step may not be necessary depending on your body's response/tolerance to the drug, but I'd prefer to be on the safe side when it comes to an overdose on any prescription drug, especially an anti-arrhythmic agent like this that works directly on the heart. I hope everything turned out to be fine since you last posted here.
Hi everyone, I have lone PAF diagnosed 10&1/2 years ago. I was started on flecainide intravenously in hospital and as it worked well and I tolerated it I was discharged with tablet form. I also take lansoprazole (for acid) and last 9 months Apixaban (blood thinner). My Afib has been very well controlled and flecainide has worked wonders. I had the occasional Afib breakthrough every couple years but that is all. I don't drink but over ate big time at Christmas. It's my usual treat as I go to weight watchers. On 27th December I went into Afib lasting 18&1/2 hours. Hadn't had it like that since being diagnosed and have only had about 7 breakthroughs since and not lasting more than 8 hours at the longest. It stopped on its own and 7 days later I went into Afib again but ...
I'm on 50 mg Flecanide 2x a day .i am experiencing constipation which I did not have before taking the medicine. Does Flecanide cause this? How? ## Yes, it has been known to cause constipation in some people that take it, as listed among the side effect profile provided by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness blurred vision and weight loss. I'm not a scientist, so I can't definitely explain why it does so, but in many cases it's due to the fact that many such medications remove fluid from the body, cause your stool to become more solid than usual. However, most side effects are transient and will improve after a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. If it continues past a month, or so, you should speak to your medical provider. Is there any...
In the last 6 months i've torn muscles in my arm and knee. could it be from the use of hexarone? ## Hello, Wayne! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you've experienced. This medication is listed as containing the active ingredient Amiodarone and I'm not seeing anything in the FDA reports that it has been known to cause that. However, it can cause some muscle weakness, spasms and cramping, so there's a chance that it did contribute to the problem, but it's hard to know for sure. Are you on any other medications?
Had afib since 2006. Had a cardiac ablation 1 week ago. Dr put me 50mg of flecainide a day. 5 days later started severe lower back pain and severe lower a dominant pain. So bad today I had to be taken to ER in ambulance. Blood work and CT scan were normal. Heart rate was 160 in ambulance. Was released and told the pain is muscle skeletal issue. Still in lots of pain. Is this related to the flecainide? ## Hello, Traci! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Yes, those symptoms could be due to the medication. It has been known to cause those side effects in some people that take it, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, headache, constipation, weakness and blurred vision. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to try a different medication.
